o Crankcase ventilation hoses
Inspect the surface of hoses for evi- dence of heat and/or mechanical dam- age. Hard and brittle rubber, cracking, tears, cuts, abrasions, and excessiveswelling indicate deterioration. Particu- lar attention should be paid to examin- ing those hose surfaces nearest tohigh heat sources, such as the ex- haust manifold. Inspect the hose routing to assure that the hoses do not come in contact with any heat source, sharp edges or mov-ing component which might cause heat damage or mechanical wear. Inspect all hose connections, such as clampsand couplings, to make sure they are secure, and that no leaks are present. Hoses should be replaced immedi-ately if there is any evidence of dete- rioration or damage. 6ZF060H1-A

A Genuine Hyundai air cleaner filter is
recommended when the filter is re-placed.

o Manual transaxle oil Inspect the manual transaxle oil ac- cording to the maintenance schedule. NOTE: If the oil level is low, check for possible leaks before adding oil. Do not overfill.

11CHANGING THE AIR CLEANER FILTER
G070A01E-AAT To change the filter, unsnap the clips around the cover. When this is done, the cover can be lifted off, the oldfilter removed and the new filter put in its place. Genuine Hyundai Replace- ment Parts are recommended.

! CAUTION:
o Operating your vehicle without a proper air cleaner filter in place can result in excessive engine wear.
o When removing the air cleaner filter, be careful that dust or dirtdoes not enter the air intake. These may result in damage tothe air cleaner filter.

!WARNING:
The cooling fan is controlled by engine coolant temperature and may sometimes operate even when theengine is not running. Use extreme caution when working near the blades of the cooling fan so thatyou are not injured by a rotating fan blade. As the engine coolant tem- perature decreases, the fan will au-tomatically shut off. This is a nor- mal condition.
5. Prepare a suitable quantity of new
engine coolant (refer to section 9) and pour this into the radiator.
6. Start the engine with the radiator
cap still removed and continue toadd coolant as the level decreases as air is expelled from the system. When the level remains constant,replace the radiator cap and re- plenish the coolant reservoir.
7. When the engine is hot, check to ensure that no coolant leaks arepresent.

Off Season Maintenance
The air conditioning must be run for
ten minutes or so weekly during peri- ods when the system would not nor- mally be used to ensure that thecompressor and seals are lubricated. If this precaution is not observed the compressor seals may become stuckto the compressor shaft and dam- aged when the system is next used resulting in a loss of refrigerant anddamage to the compressor.

Checking the Refrigerant
1. Start the engine and run at idle for
several minutes with the refrigera- tion system running at the coldest setting.
2. If the air coming out of the in-dash vents is not cold, have the air con-ditioning system inspected by your Hyundai authorised repairer.
CAUTION:
Running the air conditioning sys-tem for extended periods of time with a low refrigerant level maydamage the compressor.
CHANGING THE CLIMATE CONTROL AIR FILTER

The climate control air filter is located in front of the blower unit behind the glove box. It helps to decrease the amount of pollutants entering the car.

2. Open the glove box and remove the
mounting screws on the upside of the glove box. 4. Replace the climate control air filter
with a new one.
5. Installation is the reverse order of disassembly.
CAUTION:
Be sure to install the climate control air filter in the direction of the arrow sign. Otherwise, it may cause noise or deterioration.
