headrests removed as injury tothe occupants may occur in the event of an accident. Headrests may provide protection againstneck injuries when properly ad- justed. B110A01MC-GAT Folding Rear Seatbacks (4Door) (If Installed) The rear seatbacks may be folded to facilitate carrying long items or to in-crease the luggage capacity of the vehicle.
WARNING:
The purpose of the fold-down rearseatbacks is to allow you to carry longer objects than could otherwise be accommodated. Never allow passengers to sit on topof the folded down seat back while the car is moving as this is not a proper seating position and no seatbelts are available for use. This could result in serious injury or death in case of an accident or sudden stop.Objects carried on the folded down seatback should not extend higher than the top of the front seats. Thiscould allow cargo to slide forward and cause injury or damage during sudden stops.
To fold down the seatback :
1. Slide forward and upright the front seats before folding down.
2. Lower the headrests to the lowest position.

CAUTION:
o In order to prevent the center shoul- der belt from being damaged while folding the rear seat, disconnect the metal tab (A) from the buckle (B). To disconnect the metal tab(A) from the buckle (B) , insert a narrow-ended tool into the groove located on the buckle(B) (If in-stalled).

To fold down seatback and up seat cushion :
1. Slide forward and upright the front seats before folding down and up.

Before folding the seatback, insert the buckle in the pocket. This can prevent the buckle from being dam-aged by seatback.

2. Pull the strap of the seat cushion upward to fold up the seat cushion.

A seat belt cannot operate properly if the person is lying down inthe rear seat or if the front seat is in a reclined position.
WARNING:
Sitting in a reclined position or lyingdown when your vehicle is in motion can be dangerous. Even if you buckleup, your seat belts can't do their job when you're reclined. The shoulder belt can't do its jobbecause it won't be against your body. Instead, it will be in front of you. In a crash you could go into itwith great force, receiving serious neck or other injuries.
!The lap belt can't do its job either. In a crash the belt could go up over your abdomen. The belt forces would be applied there, not at your strong
pelvic bones. This could cause seri- ous internal injuries. For proper protection when the ve-hicle is in motion, have the seatback upright. B230A03A-EAT Children riding in the car should sit in the rear seat and must always be prop- erly restrained to minimize the risk of injury in an accident, sudden stop orsudden manoeuvre. According to acci- dent statistics, children are safer when properly restrained in the rear seatsthan in the front seat. Larger children should use one of the seat belts pro- vided.You are required by law to use safety restraints for children. If small children ride in your vehicle you must put themin a child restraint system (safety seat). Children could be injured or killed in a crash if their restraints are not properlysecured. For small children and babies, a child seat or infant seat must be used. Before buying a particular child restraintsystem, make sure it fits your car and seat belts, and fits your child. Follow all the instructions provided by the manu-facturer when installing the child re- straint system.

When you want to release the seat belt, press the button in the locking buckle. B220E01A
WARNING:
The centre belt latching mechanism is different from those for the rear seat shoulder belts. When fastening the rear seat shoulder belts or therear seat centre belt, make sure they are inserted into the correct buckles to obtain maximum protection fromthe seat belt system and assure proper operation.
!WARNING:
o When using the rear seat centre belt, you must lock all metal tabs and buckles. If any metal tab or buckle is not locked, it will in- crease the chance of injury in theevent of collision.
o Never unlock the metal tab (a) and
the buckle (b) with the followingexceptions.(1) In case of folding rear
seatbacks down.
(2) If transporting an object on the rear seat may cause damage tothe rear seat center belt.
o Lock the metal tab (a) and the buckle (b) immediately after fold-ing rear seatbacks up.
