!WARNING:
o When the SRS is activated, there may be a loud noise and fine dust will be released throughout the vehicle. These conditions are nor-mal and are not hazardous. How- ever, the fine dust generated dur- ing airbag deployment may causeskin irritation. Wash your hands and face thoroughly with lukewarm water and a mild soap after anaccident in which the airbags were deployed.
Passenger's Airbag
B240B05Lo The SRS can function only when
the ignition key is in the "ON" position. If the SRS SRI does notcome on, or continuously remains on, after flashing for about 6 sec- onds when the ignition key isturned to the "ON" position or after the engine is started, comes on while driving, the SRS is notworking properly. If this occurs, have your vehicle immediately in- spected by your Hyundai dealer.
o Before you replace a fuse or dis- connect a battery terminal, turnthe ignition key to the "LOCK" position or remove the ignition key. Never remove or replace theair bag related fuse(s) when the ignition key is in the "ON" posi- tion. Failure to heed this warningwill cause the SRS SRI to illumi- nate.
CAUTION:
When installing a container of liquid air freshener inside the vehicle, do not place it near the instrument clus- ter nor on the instrument panel sur-face. If there is any leakage from the air freshener onto these areas (in- strument cluster, instrument panelor air ventilator), it may damage these parts. If the liquid from the air fresh- ener does leak onto these areas, wash them with water immediately.

FEATURES OF YOUR HYUNDAI
45SIDE IMPACT AIRBAG
B990B04Y-AAT (If Installed) Your Hyundai is equipped with a side impact airbag in each front seat. The purpose of the airbag is to provide thevehicle's driver and/or the front passen- ger with additional protection than that offered by the seat belt alone. The sideimpact airbags are designed to deploy only during certain side impact colli- sions, depending on the crash severity, angle, speed and point of impact. The side impact airbags are not designed to deploy in all side impact situations.
B990B02Y!
o For best protection from the side impact airbag system and to avoid being injured by the deployingside impact airbag, both front seat occupants should sit in an up- right position with the seat beltproperly fastened. The driver's hands should be placed on the steering wheel at the 9:00 and 3:00o'clock positions. The passenger's arms and hands should be placed on their laps.
o Do not use any accessory seat covers.
o Use of seat covers could reduce or
prevent the effectiveness of the system.
o Do not install any accessories on
the side or near the side impactairbag.
o Do not use excessive force on the
side of the seat.
o Do not place any objects over the
airbag or between the airbag and yourself.
WARNING:
o The side impact airbag is supple- mental to the driver's and thepassenger's seat belt systems andis not a substitute for them. There- fore your seat belts must be worn at all times while the vehicle is inmotion. The airbags deploy only in certain side impact conditions severe enough to cause signifi-cant injury to the vehicle occu- pants.

!WARNING:
o Extreme Hazard! Do not use a rear- ward facing child restraint on a seat protected by an airbag in frontof it!
o Do not install a child restraint sys-
tem in the front passenger seatposition.
o A child restraint system must
never be placed in the front seat. The infant or child could be se- verely injured by an airbag de- ployment in case of an accident. B240C01HP
B240C02Y-GAT SRS Care The SRS is virtually maintenance-free and there are no parts you can safelyservice by yourself. The entire SRS system must be inspected by an autho- rized Hyundai dealer 10 years after thedate that the vehicle was manufac- tured. Any work on the SRS system, such as removing, installing, repairing, or any work on the steering wheel must beperformed by a qualified Hyundai tech- nician. Improper handling of the SRS system may result in serious personalinjury.
o Do not place any objects (an um-
brella, bag, etc.) between the front door and the front seat. Such ob- jects may become dangerous pro- jectiles and cause injury if thesupplemental side impact airbag inflates.
o To prevent unexpected deploy-
ment of the side impact air bagthat may result in personal injury, avoid impact to the side impactairbag sensor when the ignition key is on.

o Modification to SRS components
or wiring, including the addition of any kind of badges to the padcovers or modifications to the body structure, can adversely affect SRS performance and lead to possibleinjury.
o For cleaning the airbag pad cov-
ers, use only a soft, dry cloth orone which has been moistened with plain water. Solvents or clean- ers could adversely affect theairbag covers and proper deploy- ment of the system.
o No objects should be placed over or near the airbag modules on the steering wheel, instrument panel, and the front passenger's panel above the glove box, because any such object could cause harm ifthe vehicle is in a crash severe enough to cause the airbags to inflate.
o If the airbags inflate, they must be replaced by an authorized Hyundaidealer.o Do not tamper with or disconnect
SRS wiring, or other components of the SRS system. Doing so could result in injury, due to accidentalfiring of the airbags or by render- ing the SRS inoperative.
o If components of the airbag sys- tem must be discarded, or if thevehicle must be scrapped, certain safety precautions must be ob-served. Your Hyundai dealer knows these precautions and can give you the necessary informa-tion. Failure to follow these pre- cautions and procedures could increase the risk of personal in-jury.
o If you sell your vehicle, be sure to
inform the new owner of theseimportant points and make cer- tain that this manual is transferred to the new owner.
o If your car was flooded and has soaked carpeting or water on floor-ing, you shouldn't try to start en-gine; have the car towed to autho- rized Hyundai dealer.

This light also comes on when the SRS is not working properly. If the SRI does not come on, or continuously remainson after flashing for about 6 seconds with a blink when you truned the ignition key to the "ON" position or started theengine, or if it comes on while driving, have the SRS inspected by an autho- rized Hyundai Dealer. B260P02Y-GAT
ABS Service Reminder Indicator (SRI)
(If Installed)
When the key is turned to the "ON" position, the Anti-Lock Brake System SRI will come on and then go off in a fewseconds. If the ABS SRI remains on, comes on while driving, or does not come on when the key is turned to the"ON" position, this indicates that there may be a problem with the ABS. If this occurs, have your vehiclechecked by your Hyundai dealer as soon as possible. The normal braking system will still be operational, butwithout the assistance of the anti-lock brake system. B260C01A-AAT
