!WARNING:
o A child restraint system must be placed in the rear seat. Never in- stall a child or infant seat on the front passenger's seat. Should an accident occur andcause the passenger side airbag to deploy, it could severely injure or kill an infant or child seated inan infant or child seat. Thus, only use a child restraint in the rear seat of your vehicle.
o Since a safety belt or child re-
straint system can become veryhot if it is left in a closed vehicle, be sure to check the seat cover and buckles before placing a childthere.
o When the child restraint system is
not in use, store it in the boot orfasten it with a safety belt so that it will not be thrown forward in the case of a sudden stop or an acci-dent.
o Children who are too large to be in
a child restraint should sit in therear seat and be restrained with the available lap/shoulder belts.
Never allow children to ride in the front passenger seat.
o Always make sure that the shoul-
der belt portion of the outboardlap/shoulder belt is positioned midway over the shoulder, never across the neck or behind theback. Moving the child closer to the centre of the vehicle may help provide a good shoulder belt fit.The lap belt portion of the lap/ shoulder belt or the centre seat lap belt must always be positioned aslow as possible on the child's hips and as snug as possible.
o If the seat belt will not properly fit the child, Hyundai recommendsthe use of an approved booster seat in the rear seat in order toraise the child's seating height so that the seat belt will properly fit the child.
o Never allow a child to stand up or kneel on the seat.o Never use an infant carrier or child
safety seat that "hooks" over a seatback; it may not provide ad- equate security in an accident.
o Never allow a child to be held in a person's arms while they are in amoving vehicle, as this could re-sult in serious injury to the child in the event of an accident or a sudden stop. Holding a child in amoving vehicle does not provide the child with any means of pro- tection during an accident, even ifthe person holding the child is wearing a seat belt.
o If the child restraint seat is not anchored properly, the risk of achild being seriously injured or killed in a collision greatly in-creases.

If you need to tighten the belt, pull more webbing toward the retractor. When youunbuckle the seat belt and allow it to retract, the retractor will automatically revert back to its normal seated pas-senger emergency locking usage con- dition. NOTE:
o Before installing the child restraint
system, read the instructions sup- plied by the child restraint system manufacturer.
o If the seat belt does not operate as described, have the systemchecked immediately by your au-thorized Hyundai dealer.
WARNING:
Do not install any child restraint sys-tem in the front passenger seat.Should an accident occur and cause the passenger side airbag to deploy, it could severely injure or kill aninfant or child seated in an infant or child seat. Therefore, only use a child restraint system in the rear seat ofyour vehicle.
To install a child restraint system in the outboard rear seats, extend the shoul- der/lap belt from its retractor. Install thechild restraint system, buckle the seat belt and allow the seat belt to take up any slack. Make sure that the lap por-tion of the belt is tight around the child restraint system and the shoulder por- tion of the belt is positioned so that itcannot interfere with the child's head or neck. After installation of the child re- straint system, try to move it in alldirections to be sure the child restraint system is securely installed.

o Although it is harmless, the fine
dust may cause skin irritation and should not be breathed for pro- longed periods. Wash your hands and face thoroughly after an acci-dent in which the pre-tensioner seat belts were activated.
CAUTION:
o Because the sensor that activates the SRS airbag is connected with the pre-tensioner seat belt, the SRSairbag warning light on the instrument panel will blink for approximately 6 seconds after theignition key has been turned to the "ON" position, and then it should turn off.
o If the pre-tensioner seat belt is not working properly, this warninglight will illuminate even if there is no malfunction of the SRS airbag system. If the SRS airbag warning light does not illuminate when the igni- tion key is turned to "ON", or if itremains illuminated after blinking for approximately 6 seconds, or if

it illuminates whilst the vehicle is being driven, please have an au-thorized Hyundai dealer inspect the pre-tensioner seat belt or SRS airbag system as soon as pos-sible.
WARNING:
o Pre-tensioners are designed to op- erate only one time. After activa-tion, pre-tensioner seat belts mustbe replaced. All seat belts, of any type, should always be replaced after they have been worn during acollision.
o The pre-tensioner seat belt assem- bly mechanisms become hot dur- ing activation. Do not touch the pre-tensioner seat belt assembliesfor several minutes after they have been activated.
o Do not attempt to inspect or re- place the pre-tensioner seat belts yourself. This must be done by anauthorized Hyundai dealer.
o Do not strike the pre-tensioner seat belt assemblies.
!WARNING:
To obtain maximum benefit from a pre-tensioner seat belt:
1. The seat belt must be worn cor- rectly.
2. The seat belt must be adjusted to
the correct position.
NOTE:
o Both the driver's and front passenger's pre-tensioner seat belts will be activated in certain frontal collisions. The pre- tensioner seat belts can be acti- vated with the airbags. The pre-tensioners will be activated under these conditions even if the seat belts are not being worn at thetime of the collision.
o When the pre-tensioner seat belts are activated, a loud noise may be heard and fine dust, which may appear to be smoke, may be vis-ible in the passenger compart- ment. These are normal operating conditions and are not hazard-ous.

the pre-tensioner seat belt system in any manner.
o Improper handling of the pre- tensioner seat belt assemblies, and failure to heed the warnings to notstrike, modify, inspect, replace, service or repair the pre-tensioner seat belt assemblies may lead toimproper operation or inadvertent activation and serious injury.
o Always wear the seat belts when driving or travelling in a motor vehicle.
SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT (AIRBAG) SYSTEM (SRS)
!WARNING:
o As its name implies, the SRS is designed to work with, and be supplemental to, the driver's and the passenger's three point seat belt systems and is not a substi-tute for them. Therefore your seat belts must be worn at all times while the vehicle is in motion. Theairbags deploy only in certain fron- tal impact conditions severe enough to likely cause significantinjury to the vehicle occupants.

The purpose of the airbag is to provide thevehicle's driver and/or the front passen- ger with additional protection than that offered by the seat belt alone. The sideimpact airbags are designed to deploy only during certain side impact colli- sions, depending on the crash severity, angle, speed and point of impact. The side impact air bags are not designed to deploy in all side impact situations. B990B02Y-Do The SRS can function only when
the ignition key is in the "ON" position. If the SRS SRI does not come on, or continuously remains on, after flashing for about 6 sec-onds when the ignition key is turned to the "ON" position, or after the engine is started, or comeson whilst driving, the SRS is not working properly. If this occurs, have your vehicle immediately in-spected by your Hyundai dealer.
o Before you replace a fuse or dis-

o The side impact airbag is supple- mental to the driver's and the passenger's three point seat beltsystems and is not a substitute for them. Therefore your seat belts must be worn at all times whilstthe vehicle is in motion. The airbags deploy only in certain side impact conditions severe enoughto cause significant injury to the vehicle occupants. HLC2036-D
o For best protection from the side
impact airbag system and to avoid being injured is by the deploying side impact airbag, both front seatoccupants should sit in an upright position with the seat belt prop- erly fastened. The driver's handsshould be placed on the steering wheel at the 9:00 and 3:00 o'clock positions. The passenger's armsand hands should be placed in their laps.
o Do not use any accessory seat covers.
o Use of seat covers could reduce or prevent the effectiveness of the system.
o Do not install any accessories on the side or near the side impactairbag.
o Do not use excessive force on the side of the seat.
o Do not place any objects over the airbag or between the airbag and yourself.o Do not place any objects (an um-brella, bag, etc.) between the front door and the front seat. Such ob- jects may become dangerous pro-jectiles and cause injury if the supplemental side impact air bag inflates.
o To prevent unexpected deploy- ment of the side impact air bagthat may result in personal injury, avoid impact to the side airbag sensor when the ignition key ison.
