If the lamp stays on afterstarting or illuminates duringa journey, stop immediately,switch off the engine and check theengine oil level. See Engine oil check(page 149). Top up straight away ifthe level is low.
Oil change indicator lamp
Vehicles with a dieselparticulate filter (DPF)
The oil change indicatorlamp will come on andremain on if the engine oilneeds to be changed outside of theregular service schedule. Have theengine oil changed as soon aspossible.
Your dealer will switch the oil changeindicator lamp off for you aftercompleting the oil change.

Stability control (ESP)indicator lamp
Note: If the it does not illuminatewhen the ignition is switched on or ifit stays illuminated whilst driving, itindicates a malfunction (unless thesystem has been switched offmanually when it will also illuminate).During a malfunction the system willbe switched off. Have the systemchecked by an expert.
Illuminates when stabilitycontrol is switched off andflashes when stability control(ESP) is activated.
AUDIBLE WARNINGS
AND INDICATORS
Frost
A warning tone will sound if theambient temperature falls below 4°C.
Lights on
A warning tone will sound if thedriver's door is opened when thelights are on.
Parking aid
A short tone will sound whenselecting reverse gear if the systemis operational. A continuous tone ora deep tone at three second intervalswill sound when selecting reversegear is the system has a malfunction.

If the engine stalls, repeat the fullstarting procedure.
At temperatures below –15 ºC it maybe necessary to operate the starterfor up to 30 seconds. If theseweather conditions persist, an engineblock heater is recommended.

Release the accelerator pedal. Waituntil the engine has reached idlespeed, then switch off.
If the engine is switched off at highspeed, the turbocharger will continuerunning after the engine oil pressurehas dropped to zero. This will lead topremature turbocharger bearingwear.

To open, turn anti-clockwise and pullup. Do not open the cap while theengine is running.
To close, turn the cap clockwise untilit clicks.
Engine oil change
Use Ford/Motorcraft Formula ESAE 5W-30 engine oil. Alternativeengine oils with the viscosity SAE5W-30 meeting the requirementsof Ford SpecificationWSS-M2C913-B may also beused.
Engine oil top-up
If you are unable to find an oil thatmeets any of these specifications,you must use an oil of the viscositySAE 5W-30, SAE 10W-40 or SAE5W-40, according to outsidetemperatures, meeting therequirements of either ACEA A1/B1or ACEA A3/B3 specifications. Useof these oils may result in longercranking periods, reduced engineperformance, reduced fuel economy,and increased emission levels.
