The auxiliary heater aids in warmingthe engine and the interiorcompartment. It is integrated into thecooling system and is automaticallyswitched on or off depending uponthe coolant temperature.
It is possible that when theprogrammable auxiliary heater isactivated, exhaust fumes may comefrom under the sides of the vehicle. This is normal.
ELECTRIC SUNROOF
WARNING
Before operating the electricsunroof you should verify it isfree of obstructions and ensure thatchildren and/or pets are not in theproximity of the sunroof opening.Failure to do so could result in seriouspersonal injury. It is the primaryresponsibility of the supervising adultsto never leave a child unattended ina vehicle and to never leave the keysin an unattended vehicle.
Note: When the switches areoperated often during a short periodof time, the system might becomeinoperable for a certain time toprevent damage due to overheating.
Note: The electric sunroof isconnected to the vehicle’s globalopening and closing feature. SeeGlobal opening and closing (page 40).
There are two ways of opening thesunroof – the rear of the sunroof liftsopen or the sunroof opens from thefront, sliding back under the roof. Thesunroof opens and closes whilst theswitch is pressed.

The number ofilluminated lights beside the buttonindicates the selected step. Theheater setting is indicated in red, thecooler setting in blue. When no lightis illuminated, the ventilation of theseat is switched off.
Recommended settings
Use step 1 or 2 for ventilation of theseat with a comfortable temperaturefor longer periods. The steps 4 and5 are only recommended for shortperiods with a high difference intemperature.
When the seat is being ventilated, theheater may be switched onautomatically. This is to prevent theflow of air becoming uncomfortablycool.
The air in the vehicle interior is usedto ventilate the seats. The coolingeffect therefore depends on thetemperature of the vehicle interior.Switch on the air conditioning ifnecessary and set the air distributionto the footwell. See Climate control(page 80).

If the engine stalls, repeat the fullstarting procedure.
At temperatures below –15 ºC it maybe necessary to operate the starterfor up to 30 seconds. If theseweather conditions persist, an engineblock heater is recommended.
SWITCHING OFF THE
ENGINE
Vehicles with a dieselengine
Release the accelerator pedal. Waituntil the engine has reached idlespeed, then switch off.
If the engine is switched off at highspeed, the turbocharger will continuerunning after the engine oil pressurehas dropped to zero. This will lead topremature turbocharger bearingwear.
