FRONT FOG LAMPS
Note: It is not possible to switch onthe front fog lamps when the lightingswitch is set to AUTO. To switch onthe front fog lamps, switch off theautolamps feature.
Switch on the headlamps 1 and pullout the control switch one position2.
The front fog lamps should be usedonly when visibility is considerablyrestricted by fog, snow or rain.
REAR FOG LAMPS
WARNING
The rear fog lamps may only beused when visibility is restrictedto less than 50 m and must not beused when it is raining or snowing.
Note: On vehicles not equipped withfront fog lamps the control switchcan be pulled out only one position.
Note: It is not possible to switch onthe rear fog lamps when the lightingswitch is set to AUTO. To switch onthe rear fog lamps, switch off theautolamps feature.
Switch on the exterior lamps 1 andpull out the control two positions 2.

On some models, with the switch inposition B, the interior lamps will stayon for a while after the doors areshut. They will switch off immediatelywhen the ignition is switched on.
When parking your vehicle with thedoors open for a long period of time,the interior lamps are switched offautomatically after 30 minutes.
To switch the lamps back on switchon the ignition (position II) for a shorttime.
Reading lamps
CHANGING A BULB
WARNINGS
On vehicles fitted with Xenonheadlamps, have the headlampbulbs changed by an expert. Thereis a risk of injury due to high voltage.
During operation, the bulbs andtheir surroundings get hot.Switch off the lights and let the bulbscool down before replacing them.
Note: Have the headlamp alignmentchecked after each replacement ofa bulb.
Always switch off lights and ignitionbefore replacing any bulb.
Never touch the glass of the bulbs.Fit only bulbs having a UV filter.Always replace a faulty bulb with anew one of the same type. Afterreplacing a bulb, check that the lightsoperate correctly.

WARNINGS
Anti-trap protection is not activewhile the electric windowmemory is being reset. Make surethat there are no obstacles in the wayof the closing window.
Careless closing of the electricwindows can override theanti-trap protection and causeinjuries.
All electric windows are equippedwith anti-trap protection. Thewindows will stop automatically whileclosing and reverse some distanceif there is an obstacle in the way.
To override anti-trap protection whenthere is a resistance, e. g. in thewinter, proceed as follows:
Close the window twice until itreaches the resistance and let itreverse. Close the window a thirdtime to the resistance. Briefly releasethe switch and press againimmediately. The window will overridethe resistance and can then beclosed fully.
Resetting the electricwindow memory
After the battery has beendisconnected from the vehicle it isnecessary to reset the memoryseparately for each window:
Press button B until the window isfully closed. Release the button andpress it again immediately.
The window will close automaticallyif the resetting procedure has beendone correctly. Repeat theprocedure if the window does notclose automatically.

Convex exterior mirrors
WARNING
Objects seen in these mirrorswill look smaller and appearfurther away than they actually are.Be careful not to over estimate thedistance of the objects seen in themirrors.
In both mirrors the rearward field ofvision is increased to minimise theso-called blind spot at the rearquarter of the vehicle.
Manual folding exteriormirrors
To return the mirror to its originalposition, push it into the mirrorsupport until engaged.

Odometer

If a warning or indicator lamp doesnot illuminate when the ignition isswitched on, it indicates amalfunction. Have the systemchecked by an expert.
ABS warning lamp
If the ABS warning lampilluminates when driving, itindicates a malfunction.Have this checked by an expert.Normal braking (without ABS) will bemaintained.
Airbag warning lamp
See Airbag warning lamp(page 31).
Brake system warning lamp
WARNING
If it illuminates after releasing theparking brake or when driving,have the braking system checked byan expert immediately.
Illuminates when the parkingbrake is applied.
Brake system and ABSwarning lamps
WARNING
Reduce vehicle speed gradually.Use the brake with great care.Do not step on the brake pedalabruptly.
If both warning lamps illuminate at thesame time, stop the vehicle as soonas it is safe to do so. Have thebraking system checked by anexpert before continuing yourjourney.
Direction indicator lamp
Flashes during operation. Asudden increase in the rateof flashing warns of a failedindicator bulb. If your vehicle hasbeen equipped with factory fittedtowing equipment, the control lampalso warns of failure of the indicatorbulbs on the trailer.
Doors open warning lamp
Illuminates if any door or theluggage compartment is notclosed properly.
