DTC P0998 SHIFT SOLENOID ”F” CONTROL CIRCUIT
LOW (SHIFT SOLENOID VALVE SB)
DTC P0999 SHIFT SOLENOID ”F” CONTROL CIRCUIT HIGH (SHIFT SOLENOID VALVE SB)
CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION
Shift solenoid valve SB controls the 2nd brake (B1) and 1st and reverse brake pressures and performs the
1st and 2nd engine brake control.
Fail safe function:
S shift control prohibition.
On activating the fail–safe function during S shift, the driving mode\
turns to the normal D position.
DTC No.DTC Detection ConditionTrouble Area
P0998ECM detects short in solenoid valve SB circuit 2 times when
solenoid valve SB is operated (1–trip detection logic) Short in shift solenoid valve SB circuit
Shift solenoid valve SB
ECM
P0999ECM detects open in solenoid valve SB circuit 2 times when
solenoid valve SB is not operated (1–trip detection logic)Open in shift solenoid valve SB circuit
Shift solenoid valve SB
ECM
MONITOR DESCRIPTION
The ECM commands gear shifts by turning the shift solenoid valves ”ON/OF\
F”. When there is an open or
short circuit in any shift solenoid valve circuit, the ECM detects the problem and illuminates the MIL and
stores the DTC. And the ECM performs the fail–safe function and turns the o\
ther shift solenoid valves in good
condition ”ON/OFF” (In case of an open or short circuit, the ECM stops sen\
ding current to the circuit.)
(see page 05–241 ).

DTC P0976 SHIFT SOLENOID ”B” CONTROL CIRCUIT LOW (SHIFT SOLENOID VALVE S2)
DTC P0977 SHIFT SOLENOID ”B” CONTROL CIRCUIT HIGH (SHIFT SOLENOID VALVE S2)
CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION
Shifting from 1st to 4th is performed in combination with ”ON” and ”OFF\
” operation of the shift solenoid valves
S1 and S2 which is controlled by the ECM. If an open or short circuit occu\

valves, the ECM controls the remaining normal shift solenoid valve to allow the\
vehicle to be operated
smoothly (Fail safe function).
