Do not allow engine mounting insulator to be damage and careful no engine oil gets on it.
For a location with a positioning pin, insert it securely into hole of mating part.
For a part with a specified installation orientation, refer to component figure in EM-117, "Components
(AWD Model)" .
When installing engine mounting bracket (RH and LH) on cylin-
der block, tighten two upper bolts (shown as “A” in the figure)
first. Then tighten two lower bolts (shown as “B” in the figure).
Install engine mounting bracket (RH) (lower) as follows:
–Temporarily tighten mounting bolts (shown as “C”, “D” and “E” in
the figure).
–Tighten mounting bolts to the specified torque with following
mounting surfaces touched.
Engine mounting bracket (RH) to engine mounting bracket (RH) (lower) (shown as “C” and “D” in figure).
Front final drive to engine mounting bracket (RH) (lower) (shown as “E” in figure).
Make sure all engine mounting insulators are seated properly,
then tighten mounting nuts.
INSPECTION AFTER INSTALLATION
Inspection for Leaks
The following are procedures for checking fluids leak, lubricates leak and exhaust gases leak.
Before starting engine, check oil/fluid levels including engine coolant and engine oil. If less than required
quantity, fill to the specified level. Refer to MA-12, "
RECOMMENDED FLUIDS AND LUBRICANTS" .
Use procedure below to check for fuel leakage.
–Turn ignition switch “ON” (with engine stopped). With fuel pressure applied to fuel piping, check for fuel
leakage at connection points.
–Start engine. With engine speed increased, check again for fuel leakage at connection points.
Run engine to check for unusual noise and vibration.
Warm up engine thoroughly to make sure there is no leakage of fuel, exhaust gases, or any oil/fluids
including engine oil and engine coolant.
Bleed air from lines and hoses of applicable lines, such as in cooling system.
After cooling down engine, again check oil/fluid levels including engine oil and engine coolant. Refill to the
specified level, if necessary.
Summary of the inspection items:
* Transmission/transaxle/CVT fluid. power steering fluid, brake fluid, etc.

f. Further tighten by 90 degrees. (Angle tightening)
Check the tightening angle by referencing to the notches. The
angle between two notches is 90 degrees.
15. Rotate crankshaft pulley in normal direction (clockwise when viewed from engine front) to confirm it turns smoothly.
16. Install in the reverse order of removal after this step. NOTE:
If hydraulic pressure inside timing chain tensioner drops after removal/installation, slack in guide may gen-
erate a pounding noise during and just after engine start. However, this does not indicate an unusualness.
Noise will stop after hydraulic pressure rises.
INSPECTION AFTER INSTALLATION
Inspection for Leaks
The followings are procedures for checking fluids leak, lubricates leak and exhaust gases leak.

CYLINDER HEAD
Revision: 2005 July 2005 FX
If the engine speed is out of specified range, check battery liquid for proper gravity. Check engine
speed again with normal battery gravity.
If compression pressure is below minimum value, check valve clearances and parts associated with
combustion chamber (valve, valve seat, piston, piston ring, cylinder bore, cylinder head, cylinder head
gasket). After the checking, measure compression pressure again.
If some cylinders have low compression pressure, pour small amount of engine oil into the spark plug
hole of the cylinder to re-check it for compression.
–If the added engine oil improves the compression, piston rings may be worn out or damaged. Check the
piston rings and replace if necessary.
–If the compression pressure remains at low level despite the addition of engine oil, valves may be mal-
functioning. Check valves for damage. Replace valve or valve seat accordingly.
If two adjacent cylinders have respectively low compression pressure and their compression remains
low even after the addition of engine oil, cylinder head gaskets are leaking. In such a case, replace cyl-
inder head gaskets.
8. After inspection is completed, install removed parts in the reverse order of removal.
9. Start engine, and make sure that engine runs smoothly.
10. Perform trouble diagnosis. If DTC appears, erase it. Refer to EC-791, "
TROUBLE DIAGNOSIS" .

Aiming AdjustmentAKS00CHK
PREPARATION BEFORE ADJUSTING
For details, refer to the regulations in your own country.
Before performing aiming adjustment, check the following.
1. Keep all tires inflated to correct pressures.
2. Place vehicle on level ground.
3. Set that there is no-load in vehicle other than the driver (or equivalent weight placed in driver's position). Coolant, engine oil filled up to correct level and full fuel tank.
LOW BEAM AND HIGH BEAM
1. Turn headlamp low beam ON.
CAUTION:
Be sure aiming switch is set to “0” when performing aiming
adjustment.
2. Use adjusting screws to perform aiming adjustment.

Aiming AdjustmentAKS007CT
Front fog lamp is a semi-sealed beam type which uses a replaceable halogen bulb. Before performing aiming
adjustment, make sure of the following.
Keep all tires inflated to correct pressure.
Place vehicle on level ground.
See that vehicle is unloaded (except for full levels of coolant, engine oil and fuel, and spare tire, jack, and
tools). Have the driver or equivalent weight placed in driver seat.
Adjust aiming in the vertical direction by turning adjusting screw.
1. Set the distance between the screen and the center of front fog lamp lens as shown at left.
2. Turn front fog lamps ON.
3. Adjust front fog lamps using adjusting screw so that the top edge of the high intensity zone is 100 mm (3.94 in) below the height of
front fog lamp centers as shown at left.
When performing adjustment, if necessary, cover headlamps
and opposite front fog lamp.
