You can make the following settings:
Activating the easy-entry feature*
You may activate or dea ctivat ethe easy-
entry feature using this function. Depend-
ing on your setting, the steering wheel
moves up and the dri ver's seat moves back
to help you to get out of the vehi cle when
you: !
remove the key from the ignition lock
! open the driv er's door and the key is in
position 0or 1in the ignition lock
On ce you have got into the vehicle, the
steering wheel and the seat return to the
last position set (
= page 97) when you: !
close the driver's door and
! insert the key into th eignition lock

the Thermatic /Thermotronic* control
panel lights up or flashes when you press
the button. The air-condi tioning system
cannot be switched on. The cooling system is losing refri
gerant. 6
Have the climate control system
checked at a qualified specialist work-
shop, e.g. a Mercedes-Benz Service
Centre. The PASSEN
GER AIRBAG OFF warning
lamp is lit on the centre console. A ch
ild seat is fitted to the front-passen-
ger seat. The front-passenger airbag has
been dea ctivat ed. There is no child seat fitted to the front-
pas
senger seat. The child seat recognition
system has malfunctioned. 6
Have the child seat recognition checked
at a qualified specialist worksho pwhi ch
has the necessary specialist kno wledge
and tools to carry out the work required.
Mercedes-Benz recommends that you
use a Mercedes-Benz Service Centre for
this purpose.
In particular, work relevant to safety or
on safety-related systems must be car-
ried out at a qualified specialist work-
shop.

Us es vehicle or environmental factors
to control certain functions of your ve-
hicle, such as central locking or the
wi ndscreen wipers, and transmits this
information to the ->operating system.
Th is system works through the inter-
connection of all the electronic sys-
tems in the vehicle.
CDI (C ommon Rail D ir
ec t I njection)
Diesel injection technology, inwhich all
cylinder shave a common feed line.
Fine injection nozzles al lowv ery pre-
cise dosage s,which reduces diesel
consumption.
Centring pin Threade dmetal pin. Tool for precise
positioning of the wheel on the wheel
hub when changing a tyre. Chassis number
Number determined by the manufac-
turerand affixed to the body, by which
each vehicle can be clearly identified.
Child seat rec ognition
Special child seats are available for ve-
hicles with automatic child seat recog-
nition on the front-passenger seat. If
you have fitted a child seat of this kind
to the front-passenger seat, the front-
passenger airbag is automatically disa-
bled (thePASSENGER AIRBAG OFF/7
warning lamp on the centre console
lights up).
Cockpit All the instruments, switches, buttons
and warning and indicator lamps within
the driver's reach, which are necessary
for monitoring and controlling the vehi-

Parktronic* System wh ich makes parking easier by
giving the driver visual and audible sig-
nals.
Partial load mode Engine operating status in which only
part of the maximum engine output or
maximum torque isused, e.g. in ->over-
run mo de.
Program selector switch In vehicles wit h->automatic transmis-
sion*, switch used to shift between
"sport mode" and "comfort mode" or
to select the "manual gear shift pro-
gram"*. This aff ects the gearshift ing
characteristics of the transmission.

nition is fitted, the sensor system pre-
ve nts the front-passenger airbag from
being triggered.

Seat bel ts,belt tensioners, belt force

Floormats with anti-slip rubber surface.

Roll-o ver ba rs
Occupant prote ction system consisting
of plastic-coated stee lpipes. The roll-
over bars are retracted in the bodywork
under normal driving conditions.
! The roll-over bars are raised auto-
matically in critic al driving situa-
tions.
! You can raise and lower the roll-
over bars manually.
RON (R esearch O ctane N umber)
Indicates the petrol octane num ber de-
ter mined bystan dard methods. RONis
a measure of the ->knock resistance of
the petrol. The RON is approximately
