Winter driving
Do not exceed the maximum permissible
spee d of 50 km /h. Remove the snow
chains as soon as pos sible if you are no
longer driving on snow-covered roads.
i Youmay wish to deactivate ESP when pull-
ing away on snow chains ( =
page 70). This will
help you to achieve an effective cutting action.
If you are intending to fit snow chains,
please remember the follow ing:
! Snow chains cannot be fitted on all
whee l/tyre combinations.
! Fit snow chains only to the rear wheels.
Comply with the manufacturer's instal-
lat ion instructions.
! Mercedes-Benz recommends that, for
safety reasons, you only use snow
chains wh ich have been approved for
Mercedes-Benz.
! Youmust not fit snow chains to AMG tyres. You should drive particularly carefully on
icy roads. Avoid sudden accelerati
on,
steering mo vements and braking.
If the vehicle threatens to skid or cannot
be brought to a standstill at a low speed:
! shift in toneut ral
! move the selector lever to N
! try to keep the vehicle under control
using corrective steering G

Scratches, corrosive deposits, etching and
damage caused by neglect or inadequate
care cannot always be completely reme-
died. If this is the case, please consult a
qualified specialist workshop, e.g. a
Mercedes-Benz Service Centre. Repair damage caused by loose chippings
and remove the following substan
ces as
soon as possible:
! Insect re mains
! Bird droppings
! Tree resin
! Oils and grease
! Fuel
! Tar stains !
Under no circumstanc esshould you affix un-
suitable stickers, films, magnets or similar to
painted surfaces. Doing so could damage the
paintwork.
Additional care notes for AMG vehicles
with nubuck leather upholstery:
The nubuck leather isalready treated with
a protective coating. You sho uld not there-
fore use:

! MB stain remover
! other solvent-based cleaning agents
Avoid rubbing the leather upholster yvigor-

Display
messages
The operating system shows warnings or
malfunct ions in the multi-function display.
Certain messages are accompanied by an
audible warning signal or a continuous
tone.
High-priority messages are highlighted in
red in the display. These messages are
printed inred in the following tables.
Please respond inaccordance with the
messages and follow the additional notes
in this Owner's Manual.
! You can acknowledge low-priority mes-
sages by pressing the è,· ,
j ork buttons on the multi-
fun ction steering wheel or the reset
button on the left in the instrument
cluster. They will then be stored in the
malfunction memor y.
! Highest-priority messages cannot be
acknow ledged and are automatically
stored in the malfunction memory. If you select
the malfunction memory
menu in the operating system, the ac-
knowledged and unacknowledged mes-
sages will appear ( =page 116).
! Malfunctions and faults are only indicated
and dis play ed bycertain systems. The messages
se rve merelyto make sure that the vehicle oper-
ates safel y. i
Turning the key to position 2in the ignition
lock or pressing the KEYLESS GO* button twice
activates all the warni ngand indicator lamps
(except for the turn signal indicator lamps) and
the multi-function display. Please check that
the yare working properly before commencing a
journey.

sections to make it easier to find the rele-
va nt message:
