Engine stop switch “ENG. STOP”
Make sure that the engine stop switch is in the
“RUN” position. The engine stop switch controls
ignition and can be used at all times to stop the en-
gine, especially in an emergency. The engine will
not start or run when the engine stop switch is
turned to “OFF”.

The starter motor cranks the engine when this
switch is pushed.CAUTION:
See starting instructions prior to starting en-
gine (see page 6-3 for details).

NOTE:If the starter switch is pushed with the main switch
“ON” and the engine stop switch “OFF”, the starter
motor will be activated but the engine will not start.
To start the engine, be sure to position the engine
stop switch at “RUN”.

Light switch “LIGHTS”
Turn the switch to the “LO” position to switch on
the low beam and the tail/brake light.
Turn the switch to the “HI” position to switch on the
high beam and the tail/brake light.
Turn the switch to the “OFF” position to switch off
the headlights and the tail/brake light.CAUTION:
Do not use the headlights with the engine
turned off for more than thirty minutes. The
battery may discharge to the point that the
starter motor will not operate properly. If this
should happen, remove the battery and re-
charge it.

Dépannage
Bien que les véhicules Yamaha subissent une inspection
rigoureuse au départ de l’usine, une panne peut toujours
survenir.
Un problème dans les systèmes d’alimentation, de com-
pression et d’allumage peut rendre les démarrages diffici-
les ou entraîner une perte de puissance. Le tableau de dé-
pannage permet un contrôle rapide et aisé de ces
systèmes. Si une réparation s’avère nécessaire, confier le
véhicule à un concessionnaire Yamaha.
Les techniciens qualifiés Yamaha disposent en effet des
connaissances, du savoir-faire et des outils requis pour
effectuer ce type de réparation. Lors de remplacements
de pièces, n’utiliser que des pièces Yamaha d’origine. En
effet, les pièces d’autres marques peuvent sembler identi-
ques mais, elles sont souvent de moindre qualité. Par
conséquent, leur durée de vie risque d’être plus courte, ce
qui pourrait endommager le véhicule et occasionner des
réparations très coûteuses.
AVERTISSEMENT
_ Ne pas fumer lors du contrôle du système d’alimenta-
tion. Le carburant pourrait s’enflammer ou exploser
et causer des blessures graves ou des dégâts matériels
importants. S’assurer qu’il n’y a ni flammes ni étin-
celles à proximité du véhicule, y compris les veilleuses
de chauffe-eau ou de chaudières. _

Localización de averías
Aunque las máquinas Yamaha son sometidas a ri-
gurosas inspecciones antes de salir de fábrica, pue-
den surgir fallos durante su funcionamiento.
Cualquier problema que se presente en los sistemas
de alimentación, comprensión o encendido, puede
dar lugar a dificultades de arranque y pérdidas de
potencia. En el diagrama de localización de averías
se describe un procedimiento fácil y rápido para
efectuar comprobaciones. Si la máquina necesita re-
paración, llevarla a un concesionario Yamaha.
Los técnicos cualificados de los concesionarios
Yamaha disponen de las herramientas, experiencia
y conocimientos necesarios para reparar correcta-
mente la máquina. Usar exclusivamente recambios
originales Yamaha en la máquina. Las imitaciones
parecen iguales pero con frecuencia son inferiores,
por lo que tienen una vida útil más corta y pueden
dar lugar a costosas reparaciones.
ADVERTENCIA
_ No fumar mientras se comprueba el sistema de
alimentación de combustible. El combustible
puede arder o explotar y causar graves lesiones
y daños materiales. Asegurarse de que no haya
llamas ni chispas en las proximidades, incluyen-
do la llama piloto de un calentador de agua o de
un horno. _
