REMOVAL
WAR NIN G:
To avoid the danger of being scalded, never drain the engine oil when the engine is hot.
1. Remove engine under cover both side.
2. Drain engine oil. Refer toLU-8, "
Changing Engine Oil".
3. Remove lower oil pan bolts, Loosen bolts in the reverse order of
that shown in the figure.
4. Insert Tool Seal cutter between lower and upper oil pan.
5. Remove lower oil pan.

1. Remove coolant reservior tank.
2. Remove charge air cooler. Refer toEM-114, "
Removal and Installation".
3. Remove oil cleaner and air duct. Refer toEM-112, "
Removal and Installation".
4. Remove rocker cover. Refer toEM-147, "
Removal and Installation".
5. Remove RH engine mount insulator and bracket. Refer toEM-184, "
Removal and Installation".
6. Pull power steering reservoir tank out of brackets to move power steering piping.
CAUTION:
To avoid removing power steering reservoir tank out of brackets move it with power steering pip-
ing aside.
7. Remove oil pan. Refer toEM-125, "
Removal and Installation".
8. Remove oil filter bracket. Refer toLU-22, "
Removal and Installation".
9. Remove injection tube and fuel injector. Refer toEM-135, "
Removal and Installation".
10. Remove secondary timing chain and associated parts. Refer toEM-158, "
Removal and Installation".
11. When removing rear chain case, remove camshaft sprockets. Refer toEM-149, "
Removal and Installa-
tion".
12. Remove crankshaft pulley.
a. Hold crankshaft pulley with the pulley holder (SST).
b. Loosen crankshaft pulley fixing bolt and pull out the bolt approx-
imately 10 mm (0.39 in).
c. Using pulley puller (SST), remove crankshaft pulley.
lUse two M6 bolts with approx. 60 mm (2.36 in) shank length
for securing crankshaft pulley.

FUEL LEVEL SENSOR UNIT, FUEL FILTER AND FUEL PUMP ASSEMBLY
2. Disconnect fuel pump harness connector.
3. Separate the fuel filter and fuel level sensor unit.
a. Fit a used O-ring into space between fuel level sensor unit and
fuel filter. Undo catches and separate fuel level sensor unit and
fuel filter.
lFor reference when reassembling, put a mating mark on outer
edges of fuel level sensor unit and fuel filter with some means
which cannot be erased by fuel.
b. Insert blade end screwdriver to the gap between the fuel filter
and fuel level sensor unit to separate them.
CAUTION:
Put cloth or similar one on the edge of screwdriver not to
damage the inserted portion.
4. Remove pressure regulator from fuel filter.
a. Open and remove the clip.
b. Pull the pressure regulator straight out during removal.
CAUTION:
lAvoid impacts such as falling during removal.
lDo not disassemble or adjust.
ASSEMBLY
Install in the reverse order of removal paying attention to the following.
lInstall the fuel filter and fuel pump with the tabs aligned, Make sure a click sound of secure engagement
is heard.
lSecurely connect the harness connector of the fuel pump.
lInstall the pressure regulator O-ring as follows.
CAUTION:
lWhen replacing, always use a new O-ring.
lHandle it with bare hands. (Do not use gloves.)
lVisually check the O-ring, mounting parts and mating parts for foreign materials and flaws.
lBefore installing, apply new engine oil.
lTo avid damage, do not apply an excessive force (pulling or starching).
lInstall the pressure regulator as follows.
1. Insert the clip to the groove of the regulator.
2. With the clip installed, insert the regulator straight by matching
the fuel filter protrusion and the clip notch.
3. Make sure that the fuel filter protrusion and clip notch are
securely engaged.

PRECAUTIONS

HOSE CLAMPING
lIf old rubber hose is re-used, install hose clamp in its original
position (at the indentation where the old clamp was). If there is
a trace of tube bulging left on the old rubber hose, align rubber
hose at that position.
lDiscard old clamps; replace with new ones.
lAfter installing plate clamps, apply force to them in the direction
of the arrow, tightening rubber hose equally all around.
Precautions for Engine OilsEAS000FW
Prolonged and repeated contact with used engine oil may cause skin cancer. Try to avoid direct skin contact
with used oil.
If skin contact is made, wash thoroughly with soap or hand cleaner as soon as possible.
HEALTH PROTECTION PRECAUTIONS
lAvoid prolonged and repeated contact with oils, particularly used engine oils.
lWear protective clothing, including impervious gloves where practicable.
lDo not put oily rags in pockets.
lAvoid contaminating clothes, particularly underpants, with oil.
lHeavily soiled clothing and oil-impregnated footwear should not be worn. Overalls must be cleaned regu-
larly.
lFirst aid treatment should be obtained immediately for open cuts and wounds.
lUse barrier creams, applying them before each work period, to help the removal of oil from the skin.
lWash with soap and water to ensure all oil is removed (skin cleansers and nail brushes will help). Prepa-
rations containing lanolin replace the natural skin oils which have been removed.
lDo not use gasoline, kerosine, diesel fuel, gas oil, thinners or solvents for cleaning skin.
lIf skin disorders develop, obtain medical advice without delay.
lWhere practical, degrease components prior to handling.
lWhere there is a risk of eye contact, eye protection should be worn, for example, chemical goggles or face
shields; in addition an eye wash facility should be provided.
ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION PRECAUTIONS
Dispose of used oil and used oil filters through authorized waste disposal contractors to licensed waste dis-
posal sites, or to the waste oil reclamation trade. If in doubt, contact the local authority for advice on disposal
facilities.
It is illegal to pour used oil on to the ground, down sewers or drains, or into water sources.
The regulations concerning pollution vary between regions.
