Instrument panel display After switching on the ignition, three functions are shown in succession :
- service indicator (see corresponding section),
- engine oil level indicator,
- total distance recorder/total and trip distances.Note:the total and trip distances are displayed for 30 seconds when the ignition
is switched off, on opening the driver's door, as well as on locking and unlocking the vehicle. Engine oil level When the ignition is switched on, the engine oil level is indicated for approxi- mately 10 seconds, after the servicing information.
Maximum Check the level using the dipstick to confirm whether the messa- ge is correct; a surplus of oil can cause damage to the engine.

With the engine running,pressing the button oncedemists the rear screenand the mirrors*.
This switches off automatically afterapproximately twelve minutes.Pressing again activates demistingfor a further twelve minutes. It is possible to stop demisting by pressing the button again before theend of the twelve minutes.

AIR CONDITIONING*
1. Air conditioning The air conditioning is designed to
operate in all seasons. In summer, itenables the temperature to be lowe-
red and in winter, above 0 ¡C, it
increases the effectiveness of thedemisting. Press the switch, the indi-cator light comes on. The air conditioning does not ope-rate while the air flow adjustmentcontrol is in the "OFF" position. NoteIt is quite normal that the condensa- tion created by the air conditioningresults in a flow of water under the
vehicle when it is stationary.

in the outside air position, to prevent
deterioration of the air quality. The

SEAT BELTS
To adjust the height of the front seat belts To lower the attachment point, squeeze control 1and slide it
downwards.
To raise the attachment point,squeeze control 1and slide it
upwards.
To lock the seat belts Pull the strap, then insert the buckle into the stalk. Pre-tensioning and force- limiting front seat belts* Safety in the event of a frontal impact has been improved by the introduc-tion of pre-tensioning and force-limi-ting front seat belts. Depending onthe seriousness of the impact, thepre-tensioning system instantly tigh-tens the seat belt firmly against thebody of the occupant. The pre-tensioning seat belts are armed when the ignition is on. The force-limiting device reduces the pressure of the seat belt against thebody of the occupant in the event ofan accident. Rear seat belts The three rear seats are all fitted with three-point inertia reel seat belts.The side seats are fitted with force-limiting devices.
To be effective, a seat beltmust be tightened asclose to the body as pos-sible.
Depending on the nature and theseriousness of the impact, thepre-tensioners may be triggeredbefore and independently of theair bags. In all cases of an air bag being triggered, the air bag warning lighton the instrument panel comeson. After an impact, have the system
checked by a PEUGEOT dealer. The system has been designed to be fully operational for ten years. Have it replaced after this period.

THE KEYS The keys allow you to switch on the ignition and to independently opera-te the locks on the front doors, thefuel filler cap, the glove box and thepassenger air bag disarming switch. Central locking
From the driver's door, the keys allow you to lock, deadlock* or unlock thedoors and tailgate, as well as fold backthe exterior mirrors*. If one of the doors or the boot is open, the central locking does not work; ableep indicates this when locking byremote control. The remote control performs the same functions at a distance.The remote control LockingPress button
Ato lock the vehicle.
This is confirmed by fixed lighting of the direction indicators for approxi-mately two seconds. Note : a long press on button A, in
addition to locking, automatically closes the windows* and the sun-roof*.
Vehicles fitted with deadlocking*
Warning: deadlocking* renders the
internal and external door locking controls inoperative. Pressing button Adeadlocks the
vehicle. This is confirmed by fixed lighting of the direction indicators forapproximately two seconds. Note: a long press on button Aper-
mits automatic closing of the win- dows* and the sunroof*, in additionto deadlocking.
A second press on button Awithin

this to normal locking. This is confir-med by fixed lighting of the directionindicators for two seconds, followedby a brief sound from the horn.

This is confirmed by rapid flashing of the direction indicators. Note: if the vehicle is locked and
unlocking is activated inadvertently without the doors being openedwithin 30 seconds, the vehicle will
lock automatically. Do not repeatedly press the buttons of your remote control out of range
of your vehicle. You risk causing itnot to work and the remote controlwould have to be reprogrammed. Locating your car
To locate your car, if you have loc- ked it, in a car park: press button A(the courtesy
lights come on and the direction indicators flash for a fewseconds).

Confidential card The confidential card contains the identification code necessary for anywork carried out by a PEUGEOT
dealer on the system. This code ishidden by a film which should be
removed only if necessary. Keep your card in a safe place, never inside the vehicle. Key in ignition
A buzzer sounds on opening the dri-
ver's door, if the key has been left inthe ignition.Changing the battery of the remote control The information
"battery flat"is given
by an audible signal accompanied by the message "Remote control batte-
ry low" on the multifunction display.
To replace the battery, remove the boltthen unclip the casing using a coin atthe ring (CR2016/3 volt battery). If the remote control does not work after the battery has been changed,reprogramme the remote control. Programming the remote control Switch off the ignition.
Switch the ignition on again.
Immediately press button A.
Switch off the ignition and remo- ve the remote control key from
the ignition lock. The remotecontrol is now working again.

Electronic engine immobiliser This locks the engine control system as soon as the ignition has been
switched off and therefore preventsstarting of the vehicle by anyone who
does not have the key. The ignition key has an electronic chip which has a special code.When the ignition is switched on, thecode is recognised and starting ispossible. If the system does not function correctly , the central locking button
indicator light, situated in the centreof the instrument panel, flashesrapidly when the ignition is switched
on (2nd notch on the ignition key,accompanied by an audible signaland the message "Anti-theft device
faulty" on the multifunction display.
