Low coolant level warning light* Linked to the central STOPwarning light.
This comes on for approximately 3 seconds each time the ignition is switched on. This warning light is accompanied by an audible signal and the messa-
ge "Top up coolan" t on the multifunction display.
Stop immediately.
Warning: Allow the engine to cool before topping up.
The cooling system is pressurised. Central STOP warning light This is linked to the "engine oil pressure", ''oil temperature''*, ''coolant level low'', ''brake fluid level'', electronic brake force distribution fault'',and ''coolant temperature gauge'' warning lights, as well as warnings
of openings, indicated by a diagram on the multifunction display. This light comes on each time the ignition is switched on.Stop immediately if it flashes with the engine running.

Engine oil pressure warning light Linked with the central STOPwarning light.
If it comes on with the engine running, it is accompanied by an audible signal and the message "Oil pressure low"or "Top up engine oil" on
the multifunction display.
Stop immediately.If there is a lack of oil in the lubrication circuit, top up the level.
Contact a PEUGEOT dealer without delay.

A permanently lit warning light or one that flashes with the engine running, indicates an operating fault in the relevant unit. Some warning lights may
be linked to buzzers and a message on the multifunction display. Do notignore this warning: contact a PEUGEOT dealer as soon as possible.
If the Central STOP warning light comes on when you are driving, stop immediately where it is safe to do so.
To prevent the risk of scalding, uns-crew the cap by two turns to allowthe pressure to drop. Once the pressure has dropped, remove the cap and topup the level.

Handbrake and low brake fluid levelwarning light Linked to the central STOP
warning light. This comes on each time the ignition is switched on. Illumination of this light is accompa- nied by an audible signal and a mes-sage on the multifunction displayindicating the cause of the warning: - ''Handbrake on'' ,if the handbrake
is applied or has not been released
correctly,
- ''Low brake fluid level'' if there is
an excessive drop in the brakefluid (if the light remains on evenwith the handbrake released),
- ''Brake system problem'' is dis-
played simultaneously with theABS light, indicating a malfunctionof the electronic brake force distri-bution.

Instrument panel display After switching on the ignition, three functions are shown in succession :
- service indicator (see corresponding section),
- engine oil level indicator,
- total distance recorder/total and trip distances.Note:the total and trip distances are displayed for 30 seconds when the ignition
is switched off, on opening the driver's door, as well as on locking and unlocking the vehicle. Engine oil level When the ignition is switched on, the engine oil level is indicated for approxi- mately 10 seconds, after the servicing information.
Maximum Check the level using the dipstick to confirm whether the messa- ge is correct; a surplus of oil can cause damage to the engine.

CHECKING THE LEVELS Oil level Check the level regularly and top
up between changes. The maxi-mum consumption is 0.5 l per 600miles (1000 km). Check the level with the vehicle level, engine cold, using the oil levelgauge on the instrument panel orthe dipstick.
Dipstick There are two marks onthe dipstick : A= maximum
Never fill past this mark.B = minimum
To maintain the reliability of engines and emissioncontrol systems, the useof additives in engine oilis prohibited.
Oil change According to the information given in
"PEUGEOT SERVICING" .
WARNING: avoid used oil from
coming into prolonged contact withthe skin.Viscosity selection In all cases, the oil selected must meet the manufacturer's require-ments. Brake fluid level:
- The level must always be between the DANGER and MAXIMUM
marks in the reservoir.
- If the level drops substantially, contact a PEUGEOT dealer imme-
diately.
Fluid change:
- must be carried out according to the manufacturer's servicing sche- dule,
- use fluids approved by the manu- facturer, which fulfil DOT4 stan-dards.
WARNING: brake and clutch fluid is
harmful to health and very corrosive.
Avoid all contact with the skin. Cooling system Use the fluid approved by the manu-
facturer. When the engine is warm, the tem- perature of the coolant is controlled
by the engine fan. As this fan canoperate with the ignition key remo-ved and because the cooling systemis pressurised, wait for at least onehour after the engine has stoppedbefore carrying out any work. Slacken the cap to the first notch torelease the pressure to prevent anyrisk of scalding. When the pressurehas dropped, remove the cap andtop up the level. Note :
the coolant does not need to
be changed. Used oil Do not dispose of used oil, brake fluid or coolant into drains or into theground. Power steering reservoir Open the reservoir, with the engi-
ne at ambient temperature. Thelevel should always be above theMIN. mark and close to the MAX.mark.
Windscreen and headlampwash reservoir* For best quality cleaning and for your
safety, we recommend that you useproducts approved by PEUGEOT(reservoir capacity 3.5 litres or 6.5litres with headlamp wash).

It may benecessary to check the thickness ofthe pads, even between services. RUNNING OUT OF FUEL (DIESEL) If you should run out of fuel, it is necessary to re-prime* the circuit: 2 litre HDI engine
- fill the fuel tank with at least five
litres of diesel,
- operate the manual re-priming pump, until you feel resistance during the manoeuvre,
- operate the starter until the engine starts.
