!WARNING:
o Do not install a child restraint seat at the center of the rear seat using the vehicle's ISOFIX an-chors. The ISOFIX anchors areonly provided for the left andright outboard rear seating posi-tions. Do not misuse the ISOFIX anchors by attempting to attach a child restraint seat in the middleof the rear seat to the ISOFIXanchors. In a crash, the childrestraint seat ISOFIX attachmentsmay not be strong enough to secure the child restraint seat properly in the center of the rearseat and may break, causing se-rious injury or death.
NOTE: An ISOFIX-child-seat can only be installed if the seat has a vehicle-specific approval according to ECE-R44. Before using the ISOFIX-child-seat, which was bought for an othercar, ask your Hyundai-dealer whether this seat-type is approved and recommended for yourHyundai. To secure the child restraint seat

1. To engage the child restraint seat to the ISOFIX anchor, insert the child restraint seat latch into the ISOFIXanchor. Listen for the audible "click"sound. 2. Connect the tether strap hook to the
child restraint hook holder andtighten to secure the seat. Refer to"Securing a Child Restraint SystemWith Tether Anchorage System" on page 1-26. o Do not mount more than one
child restraint to a child restraint lower anchorage point. The im-proper increased load may causethe anchorage points or tetheranchor to break, causing seriousinjury or death.
o Attach the ISOFIX or ISOFIX-com-
patible child restraint seat onlyto the appropriate locationsshown in the illustration.
o Always follow the installation and
use instructions provided by the manufacturer of the child re- straint.

B180B01HP-GAT Pre-tensioner Seat Belt Your Hyundai vehicle is equipped with driver's and front passenger's pre-tensioner seat belts. The purpose ofthe pre-tensioner is to make sure that the seat belts fit tightly against the occupant's body in certain frontal col-lisions.The pre-tensioner seat belts can beactivated alone or, where the frontalcollision is severe enough, together with the airbags. The pre-tensioner seat belt operatesin a similar way as an Emergency Locking Retractor (ELR) type of seatbelt. When the vehicle stops suddenly,or if the occupant tries to lean forwardtoo quickly, the seat belt retractor willlock into position. However, in certain frontal collisions, the pre-tensioner will activate and pull the seat belt intotighter contact against the occupant'sbody.

B240B02A-GAT SRS Components and Functions
B240B01L
The SRS consists of the following com- ponents:
- Driver's Airbag Module
- Passenger's Airbag Module
- SRS Service Reminder Indicator (SRI)
- SRS Control Module (SRSCM) The SRSCM continually monitors all elements while the ignition is "ON" todetermine if a frontal or near-frontalimpact is severe enough to requireairbag deployment.
o For maximum safety protection
in all types of crashes, all occu-pants including the driver shouldalways wear their seat beltswhether or not an airbag is alsoprovided at their seating posi-tion to minimize the risk of se- vere injury or death in the event of a crash. Do not sit or leanunnecessarily close to the airbagwhile the vehicle is in motion.
o The SRS airbag system must de- ploy very rapidly to provide pro- tection in a crash. If an occupant is out of position because of notwearing a seat belt, the airbagmay forcefully contact the occu-pant causing serious or fatal in-juries.o Do not tamper with or discon-nect SRS wiring, or other com- ponents of the SRS system. Do-ing so could result in injury, dueto accidental firing of the airbagsor by rendering the SRS inopera-tive.
o Do not install a child restraint
system in the front passengerseat position. A child restraintsystem must never be placed inthe front seat. The infant or childcould be severely injured or killed by an airbag deployment in case of an accident.
o Do not allow children to ride in
the front passenger seat. If olderchildren (teenagers and older)must ride in the front seat, make sure they are always properly belted and that the seat is movedback as far as possible.

WARNING:
o The side impact airbag is supple- mental to the driver's and the passenger's three point seat beltsystems and is not a substitutefor them. Therefore your seatbelts must be worn at all timeswhile the vehicle is in motion. The airbags deploy only in cer- tain side impact conditions se-vere enough to cause significantinjury to the vehicle occupants. HXGS261

B990B04Y-GAT Side Impact Airbag (If installed)
Your Hyundai is equipped with a side airbag in each front seat. The purposeof the airbag is to provide the vehicle'sdriver and/or the front passenger with additional protection than that offered by the seatbelt alone. The side impactairbags are designed to deploy onlyduring certain side impact collisions, depending on the crash severity, angle, speed and point of impact. The air bags are not designed to deploy in all side impact situations. B990B02Y
!
WARNING:
The Passenger Presence Detection system is not intended to preventairbag deployment while a child isin the front passenger's seat. It is intended only as a means to reduce unnecessary collision damage re-pair expense by preventing airbagand seat belt pretensioner deploy-ment when the right front passen-ger seat is unoccupied. Deployment is still possible if only a few pounds are placed upon the seat. There-fore, children must not be trans-ported in the front seat. All childrenmust be seated in the rear seat andproperly restrained with the vehicle's restraint system or a child restraint system appropriate for thechild's size and weight.!

o Modification to SRS components
or wiring, including the addition of any kind of badges to the pad covers or modifications to the body structure, can adverselyaffect SRS performance and leadto possible injury.
o For cleaning the airbag pad cov- ers, use only a soft, dry cloth or one which has been moistened with plain water. Solvents orcleaners could adversely affectthe airbag covers and properdeployment of the system.
o No objects should be placed over
or near the airbag modules onthe steering wheel, instrumentpanel, and the front passenger'spanel above the glove box, be-cause any such object could cause harm if the vehicle is in a crash severe enough to causethe airbags to inflate.
o If the airbags inflate, they must be replaced by an authorizedHyundai dealer. o Do not tamper with or discon-
nect SRS wiring, or other com-ponents of the SRS system. Do- ing so could result in injury, due to accidental firing of the airbagsor by rendering the SRS inopera-tive.
o If components of the airbag sys- tem must be discarded, or if the vehicle must be scrapped, cer- tain safety precautions must beobserved. Your Hyundai dealerknows these precautions and cangive you the necessary informa- tion. Failure to follow these pre- cautions and procedures couldincrease the risk of personal in-jury.
o If you sell your vehicle, make certain that this manual is trans- ferred to the new owner.
o If your car was flooded and has
soaked carpeting or water on flooring, you shouldn't try to startengine; have the car towed toauthorized Hyundai dealer.
