Cargo Lamps
You can use the cargo lamps if you need more light in
the cargo area of your vehicle or in the Top
-Box
Storage units.
Press this button, located
on the instrument panel to
turn the cargo lamps on.
Press the button again to
turn it off.
A message in the message
center will come on and
display CARGO LAMP ON
when the cargo lamps are
turned on and the ignition
key is turned to RUN.
Interior Lamps
Instrument Panel Brightness Control
The instrument panel intensity control is located to the
right of the exterior lamps knob.
Turn the thumbwheel up or down to brighten or dim
the instrument panel lights. To turn on the dome lamps
(with the vehicle doors closed) turn the thumbwheel all
the way up.
Exit Lighting
With exit lighting, the interior lamps will come on when
you remove the key from the ignition. The lights will
not come on if the DOME OVERRIDE button is
pressed in.
Illuminated Entry
Your vehicle is equipped with an illuminated
entry feature.
When the doors are opened, the dome lamps will come
on if the DOME OVERRIDE button is in the out
position. If the DOME OVERRIDE button is pressed in,
the lamps will not come on.

Dome Lamps
The dome lamps will come on when you open a door.
You can also turn the dome lamps on by turning the
thumbwheel, located next to the exterior lamps control,
all the way up. In this position, the dome lamps will
remain on whether the doors are opened or closed.
You can use the DOME OVERRIDE button, located
below the exterior lamps control, to set the dome lamps
to come on automatically when the doors are opened, or
to remain off. To turn the lamps off, press the button
into the in position. With the button in this position,
the dome lamps will remain off when the doors are
open. To return the lamps to automatic operation,
press the button again and return it to the out position.
With the button in this position, the dome lamps will
come on when you open a door.
Battery Run-Down Protection
This feature shuts off the dome, reading, glove box,
cargo and underhood lamps if they are left on for more
than 20 minutes when the ignition is off. This will keep
your battery from running down.
Mirrors
Electrochromic Inside Rearview Mirror
with Compass and Temperature Display
When on, an electrochromic mirror automatically dims
to the proper level to minimize glare from lights behind
you after dark.
The mirror also includes a display in the upper right
corner of the mirror face. The compass reading and the
outside temperature will both appear in the display at the
same time. The dual display can be turned on or off by
briefly pressing either the TEMP or the COMP button.

Temperature Display
The temperature can be displayed by pressing the TEMP
button. Pressing the TEMP button once briefly, will
toggle the temperature reading on and off. To alternate
the temperature reading between Fahrenheit and Celsius,
press and hold the TEMP button for three seconds until
the display blinks F and C. Press and release the
TEMP button to toggle between the Fahrenheit and
Celsius readings. After five seconds of inactivity,
the display will stop blinking and display the last
selection made.
Press and release the TEMP button to toggle the
temperature display between Fahrenheit or Celsius.
If an abnormal reading is displayed, please consult
your dealer.Electrochromic Mirror Operation
The right button, labeled TEMP and located at the
bottom of the mirror, turns the electrochromic mirror
on and off. Press and hold the TEMP button for
six seconds to turn the electrochromic feature on or off.
The indicator light to the right of the TEMP button will
turn on or off to show you when the electrochromic
feature is activated.

Top-Box Storage
Your vehicle is equipped with Top-Box Storage units on
both sides of the vehicle. The passenger side top box
contains the tools you will need to change a flat tire.
Use the ignition/door key to unlock the top box lid if it
is locked. Press the key cylinder button and swing the
lid open. Turn on the cargo lamps if you need more light
inside the top boxes. See ªCargo Lampsº in the Index
for more information on cargo lamps. Use the
ignition/door key to lock the top boxes.
Cargo Cover Panels
CAUTION:
An improperly stored cargo cover could be
thrown about the vehicle during a collision or
sudden maneuver. You or others could be
injured. If you remove the cover, always store it
in its proper position in the cargo panel storage
bag with the bag securely attached to the cargo
tie downs. When you put it back, always be sure
that it is securely reattached.

Luggage Carrier
You can load things on top of your vehicle with
this feature.
The luggage carrier has slats and siderails attached to
the roof and crossrails which can be moved back and
forth to help secure cargo. Tie the load to the siderails or
siderail supports.
NOTICE:
Loading cargo that weighs more than 200 lbs.
(90.6 kg) on the luggage carrier may damage
your vehicle. When you carry large things, never
let them hang over the rear or the sides of your
vehicle. Load your cargo so that it rests on the
slats and does not scratch or damage the vehicle.
Put the cargo against the siderails and fasten it
securely to the luggage carrier.
Don't exceed the maximum vehicle capacity when
loading your vehicle. For more information on vehicle
capacity and loading, see ªLoading Your Vehicleº in
the Index.To prevent damage or loss of cargo as you're leaving,
check now and then to make sure the luggage and cargo
are still securely fastened.
Be sure the cargo is properly loaded.
If small heavy objects are placed on the roof cut a
piece of 3/8 inch plywood to fit inside the crossrails
and siderails to spread the load. If plywood is used,
tie it to the siderail supports.
Tie the load to the crossrails or the siderail supports.
Use the crossrails only to keep the load from sliding.
To move a crossrail, turn the release knobs, on both
sides of the rail, counterclockwise to loosen it. Slide
the crossrail to the desired position balancing the
force side to side. Turn the release knobs, on both
sides of the rail, clockwise to tighten it and try to
slide the crossrail back and forth slightly to be sure
it is tight
If you need to carry long items, move the crossrails
as far apart as they will go. Tie the load to the
crossrails and the siderails or siderail supports. Also
tie the load to the bumpers. Do not tie the load so
tightly that the crossrails or siderails are damaged.
After moving a crossrail, be sure it is securely locked
into the siderail.

Your vehicle has a Center High-Mounted Stoplamp
(CHMSL) located above the rear glass.
If items are loaded on the roof of the vehicle, care should
be taken not to block or damage the CHMSL unit.
Ashtray and Cigarette Lighter
The ashtray is located in the center console. Press the
raised area on the access door to use the ashtray.
NOTICE:
If you store paper or other things that burn in
your ashtray, they could be set on fire by
cigarettes or other smoking materials. That could
cause a fire and possibly damage your vehicle.
Do not store papers and other things that burn
in your ashtray.
To remove the ashtray, first locate the indentation on the
right side of the ashtray. Then place your fingertip in the
indentation and pry the ashtray out.
To use the cigarette lighter, push it in all the way, and let
go. When it's ready, it will pop back out by itself.
NOTICE:
Holding a cigarette lighter in with your hand
while it's heating can make it overload, damaging
the lighter and the heating element. Just push the
lighter all the way in and let go. When it's done,
it will pop back by itself.

OnStar System (If Equipped)
OnStar is a vehicle communications system that offers a
variety of services and provides a one
-touch hands-free
communication link between you and the OnStar Center.
To receive OnStar services, a service subscription
agreement is required and an additional fee may be
required. Services are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a
week. For more information, call 1

-888-667-8277).
OnStar Services Button: Press this button once
to contact an advisor who will be able to assist you with
these services. If you are not quickly connected, the
system will automatically reset and redial. This ensures
connection to the center; there is no additional action
required. Press the Communication button to cancel the
automatic redial.
Emergency Button: In an emergency situation,
press the emergency service button. Upon receiving the
call, an advisor at the center will locate your vehicle and
assess the situation. If necessary, the advisor will alert
the nearest emergency service provider.
Communication Button: Press this button at
the end of a call. Also press this button to answer a call
from the center, or cancel a call if one of the other
buttons is accidentally pressed. This button is also used
to access OnStar Personal Calling and Virtual Advisor
services. See the OnStar owner package for more
information.
Volume Control: You can control the volume of the
OnStar System using either the volume knob on the
radio or using the steering wheel controls.
Telltale Light: This light will indicate the status of
the system. A solid green light will come on when you
start the vehicle to let you know that the system is on
and is ready to make or receive calls.
If the light blinks green it means that an incoming or
outgoing call is in progress. Press the Communication
button if you notice the light blinking and you are not
on a call.

The light will be red in the event of an OnStar system
malfunction. If this occurs press the OnStar Services
button to attempt to contact an advisor. If the connection
is made, the advisor will assist you with steps to take to
make sure that the system is functioning properly. If you
cannot contact the advisor, take your vehicle to your
dealership as soon as possible for assistance.
Cellular Antenna: The cellular antenna on the outside
of your vehicle is critical to effective communications
using the OnStar system. Optimum cellular reception
can be obtained when the mast is straight up and down.
OnStar Services
The following services are available within OnStar
service plans. Your vehicle comes with a specific
one
-year service plan that allows use of some or all of
the following services.
Automatic Notification of Air Bag
Deployment: If an air bag deploys, a priority
emergency signal is sent automatically to the center.
An advisor will locate your vehicle's position, try to
contact you and assist you in the situation. If the
center is unable to contact you, an emergency service
provider will be contacted.Stolen Vehicle Tracking: Call the center at
1
-888-4-ONSTAR (1-888-466-7827) to report
your vehicle stolen. The system can then attempt to
locate and track your vehicle and the advisor will
assist the proper authorities.
Roadside Assistance with Location: For vehicle
breakdowns, press the OnStar Services button. An
advisor will contact the appropriate help.
Remote Diagnostics: If an instrument panel light
comes on, press the OnStar Services button. An
advisor can perform a check of the engine on
-board
computer, and recommend what action needs to
be taken.
OnStar MED
-NET: Med-Net can store your
personal medical history and provide it to emergency
personnel if necessary. (Requires activation and an
additional fee.)
Accident Assist: An advisor can provide
step
-by-step guidance following an accident.
