Your radio can store home and away presets. Home and
away presets allow you to use one set of preset radio
settings in the area where you live, and another set when
you go out of town. That way, you will not need to
reprogram your presets every time you travel. With the
radio off and the clock displayed, use fast forward and
reverse to select home or away presets. To select the
away presets, press and hold FF for five seconds until
you hear a beep. The next time the radio comes on, the
away presets will be active. To select the home presets,
press and hold RW or REV for five seconds until you
hear a beep. The next time the radio comes on, the home
presets will be active.
When battery power is removed and later applied, you
will not have to reset your home radio presets because
the radio remembers them. However, you will have to
reset your away radio presets.Theft-Deterrent Feature
THEFTLOCK is designed to discourage theft of your
radio. Your vehicle has a ªbuilt
-inº theft-deterrent
feature on each radio that is automatic
-- there is no
programming required. The radio in your vehicle cannot
be used in any other vehicle. When the radio was
originally installed in your vehicle at the factory, it
stored the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN). Each
time the ignition is turned on, the VIN is verified. If the
vehicle's VIN does not match the VIN stored in the
radio, THEFTLOCK will be activated and the audio
system will not play. If the radio is removed from your
vehicle, the original VIN in the radio can be used to
trace the radio back to your vehicle.
6-24 How to Add Fluid
Refer to the Maintenance Schedule to determine what
kind of transaxle fluid to use. See ªRecommended
Fluids and Lubricantsº in the Index.
If the fluid level is low, add only enough of the proper
fluid to bring the level into the cross
-hatched area on
the dipstick.
1. Pull out the dipstick.
2. Using a long
-neck funnel, add enough fluid at the
dipstick hole to bring it to the proper level.
It doesn't take much fluid, generally less than
one pint (0.5 L). Don't overfill.
NOTICE:
We recommend you use only fluid labeled
DEXRON-III, because fluid with that label is
made especially for your automatic transaxle.
Damage caused by fluid other than
DEXRON
-III is not covered by your new
vehicle warranty.
3. After adding fluid, recheck the fluid level as
described under ªHow to Check.º
4. When the correct fluid level is obtained, push
the dipstick back in all the way and turn the
handle clockwise.
How to Reset the Transaxle Fluid Indicator
After the transaxle fluid has been changed, the transaxle
fluid change indicator must be reset. To reset the
indicator, do the following:
1. Press the INFO button on the Driver
Information Center (DIC) until TRANS FLUID
LIFE is displayed.
2. Press and hold the RESET button until 100% is
displayed. This resets the transaxle fluid
change indicator.
The percentage of transaxle fluid life remaining may be
checked at any time by pressing the INFO on the DIC
until the TRANS FLUID LIFE message appears.
