PEUGEOT SERVICING The maintenance cycle of your 307 SW is based onlevel A(including the replacement of the engine oil, the oil filter and a
set of checks) and level Cservices ( level Aservice + workshop operations carried out every 60 000 km) in accordance with
the tables on the following pages. So that the driving conditions and your style of driving may be taken into account, your 307 SW is fitted with a service indi-
cator which modulates the intervals for level A service:
¥ every 30 000 km maximum or 2 years for petrol engines,
¥ every 20 000 km maximum or 2 years for direct injection diesel engines.
The frequency of level Aservices specific to your vehicle will be determined by three parameters :
¥ the number of engine revolutions,
¥ the engine oil temperature,
¥ periods when the vehicle is not in use. Depending on these three elements, the service indicatorwill suggest a service interval which is more or less the same as
the initial programme. Depending on the conditions of use, one or more level Aservices may be carried out between two
level C services.
Depending on the total distance recorded, your dealer may offer to carry out the level Cservice to avoid the visits being too
close together.

The extension of the service intervals means that the engine oil must be checked regularly: topping up of the oil between two oil changes is normal. It is for this reason that the PEUGEOT network is offering you an intermediate visit between regular services.
The date of this visit is not shown by the service indicator. It is to be carried out between two services.
A PEUGEOT professional will carry out a quick check, and will top up the fluid levels if necessary (oil, coolant, screen wash up to 2 litres).
If the oil level is too low, there is a risk of significant damage to the engine: check the engine oil level at least every 5 000 km. The extended service intervals have been made possible by developments to our vehicles and to the lubricants:

Instrument panel display After switching on the ignition, three functions are shown in succession:
- service indicator (see corresponding section),
- engine oil level indicator,
- total distance recorder (total and trip distances).Note:the total and trip distances are displayed for 30 seconds when the ignition
is switched off, on opening the driver's door, as well as on locking and unlocking the vehicle. Engine oil level indicator When the ignition is switched on, the engine oil level is indicated for approxima- tely 10 seconds, after the servicing information.
Maximum Check the level using the dipstick to confirm whether the display is correct; a surplus of oil can cause damage to the engine.
Contact a PEUGEOT dealer without delay. Minimum
Check the level with the dipstick and top it up. The figure shown is only correct if the vehicle has been on stable, level ground, withthe engine stopped, for 10 minutes. Oil level gauge fault Flashing of the segments, the square or of "min" and "max" indi- cates a fault in the oil level gauge. There is a risk the engine will be damaged.
Contact a PEUGEOT dealer. Lighting rheostat With the lights on, press the button tovary the intensity ofthe lighting on theinstrument panel andthe multi-function dis-
play. When the ligh-
ting reaches the minimum (or maxi-mum) setting, release the buttonthen press it again to increase (orreduce) the brightness. As soon as the lighting is of the required brightness, release the but-ton.
Trip recorder zero reset With the ignition on, press the button.

CHECKING THE LEVELS Oil level Check the level regularly and top
up between changes. The maxi-mum consumption is 0.5 l per 1000 km. Check the level with the vehicle level, engine cold, using the oillevel gauge on the instrumentpanel or the dipstick.
Dipstick
There are two marks onthe dipstick : A= maximum
Never fill past this mark.B = minimum
To maintain the reliability of engines and emissioncontrol systems, the useof additives in engine oilis prohibited.
Oil change According to the information given in
"PEUGEOT SERVICING" .
WARNING: avoid used oil from
coming into prolonged contact withthe skin.Viscosity selection In all cases, the oil selected must meet the manufacturer's require-ments. Brake fluid level:
- The level must always be between the DANGER and MAXIMUM
marks in the reservoir.
- If the level drops substantially, contact a PEUGEOT dealer imme-
diately.
Fluid change:
- must be carried out according to the manufacturer's servicing sche- dule,
- use fluids approved by the manu- facturer, which fulfil DOT4 stan-dards.
WARNING: brake and clutch fluid is
harmful to health and very corrosive.
Avoid all contact with the skin. Cooling system Use the fluid approved by the manu-
facturer. When the engine is warm, the tem- perature of the coolant is controlled
by the engine fan. As this fan canoperate with the ignition key remo-ved and because the cooling systemis pressurised, wait for at least onehour after the engine has stoppedbefore carrying out any work. Slacken the cap to the first notch torelease the pressure to prevent anyrisk of scalding. When the pressurehas dropped, remove the cap andtop up the level. Note :
the coolant does not need to
be changed. Used oil Do not dispose of used oil, brake fluid or coolant into drains or into theground. Power steering reservoir Open the reservoir, with the engine at ambient temperature.The level should always beabove the MIN. mark and closeto the MAX. mark.
Windscreen and headlampwash reservoirs For best quality cleaning and for your
safety, we recommend that you useproducts approved by PEUGEOT(reservoir capacity 3.5 litres or 6.5 litres with headlamp wash).

CHECKS Battery
At the start of winter, have your bat-
tery checked by a PEUGEOT dealer. Air filter and pollen filter Have the filter elements replaced
regularly. If you drive in dusty
conditions, change them twice asoften. Brake pads Brake pad wear depends on the style of driving, in particular forvehicles which are used in town,over short distances. It may benecessary to check the thickness ofthe pads, even between services. Handbrake Where the handbrake travel is too great or there is a reduction in theperformance of the system, thehandbrake should be adjusted, evenbetween services. Have the system checked by a
PEUGEOT dealer. Manual gearbox This does not need an oil change. Check the level, according to themanufacturer's servicing schedule. Automatic gearbox This does not need an oil change. Have the level checked by a
PEUGEOT dealer, according to themanufacturer's servicing schedule. Oil filter
Change the filter regularly, in accor- dance with the servicing schedule.
RUNNING OUT OF FUEL (DIESEL) If you should run out of fuel, it is necessary to re-prime the circuit:
- fill the fuel tank with at least five
litres of diesel,
- operate the manual re-priming pump, until you feel resistance during the manoeuvre,
- operate the starter until the engine starts.
