Protecting Children

Small Children
Placing a forward-facing child seat in the front seat of a vehicle equipped
with a passenger's front airbag can

be hazardous. If the vehicle seat is
too far forward, or the child's head is
thrown forward during a collision, an inflating front airbag can strike the
child with enough force to kill orvery seriously injure a small child.

Larger Children Children who have outgrown child
seats are also at risk of being injured
or killed by an inflating passenger's

front airbag. Whenever possible,

larger children should sit in the back seat, properly restrained with a seat
belt. (See page 34 for important information about protecting larger
children.)
U.S. Models

To remind you of the passenger's front airbag hazards, and thatchildren must be properly restrained
in the back seat, your car has
warning labels on the dashboard and on the driver's and front passenger's
visors. Please read and follow the instructions on these labels.

Additional Information About Your Airbags

SRS Components

Your Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) includes:
Two front airbags. The driver'sairbag is stored in the center of
the steering wheel; the front
passenger's airbag is stored in the dashboard. Both are marked "SRS

AIRBAG."

Automatic seat belt tensioners
(see page 41).

Sensors that can detect a
moderate to severe frontal
collision.
A sophisticated electronic system
that continually monitors andrecords information about thesensors, the control unit, the
airbag activators, and driver and
passenger seat belt use when the ignition is ON (II).
An indicator light on the instrument panel that alerts you toa possible problem with the

system (see page 44).

Emergency backup power in case

your car's electrical system is
disconnected in a crash.
How Your Front Airbags Work
If you ever have a moderate to
severe frontal collision, the sensors

will detect the vehicle's rapid deceleration. If the rate of
deceleration is high enough, the

control unit will instantly inflate the

front airbags.

Power Windows, Moonroof

The master control panel also con- tains these extra features:
AUTO — To open the driver's window fully, push the window switch firmly down and release it.
The window automatically goes all the way down. To stop the windowfrom going all the way down, pull
back on the window switch briefly.
To open the driver's window only partially, push the window switchdown lightly and hold it. The window
will stop as soon as you release the
switch.

The AUTO function only works to lower the driver's window. To raise
the window, you must pull back on
the window switch and hold it until
the window reaches the desired

position.
The MAIN switch controls power to
the passengers' windows. With thisswitch off, the passengers' windows
cannot be raised or lowered. The
MAIN switch does not affect thedriver's window. Keep the MAIN
switch off when you have children in
the car so they do not injure them- selves by operating the windows
unintentionally.
The power window system has a key- off delay function. The windows willstill operate for up to ten minutes
after you turn off the ignition.
Opening either front door cancels
the delay function. You must turn
the ignition switch ON (II) again
before you can raise or lower the
windows. Moonroof
MOONROOF SWITCH

On EX and EX V-6 models

The moonroof has two positions: it can be tilted up in the back for
ventilation, or it can be slid back into the roof. Use the switch under theleft dashboard vent to operate the
moonroof. The ignition switch must
be ON (II).

Mode Buttons
Use the MODE buttons to select the
vents the air flows from. Some air
will flow from the dashboard corner
vents in all modes. Air flows from the center
and corner vents in the dashboard. Air flow is divided between
the vents in the dashboard and the floor vents. Air flows from the floor
vents. Air flow is divided between
the floor vents and the defroster
vents at the base of the windshield. Air flows from the defroster
vents at the base of the windshield. When you select or
the system automatically switches toFresh Air mode and turns on the

A/C.

Vent Controls
The direction of air flow from thevents in the center and each side ofthe dashboard is adjustable.
To adjust the air flow from the center vent, move the tab up-and-down and side-to-side.
DRIVER'S-SIDE VENT

On the driver's-side vent, move the
vent up-and-down and move the tab side-to-side. On the passenger's-side
vent, move the tab up-and-down and move the vent side-to-side.
PASSENGER'S-SIDE VENT

The vents in the corners of the dashboard can be opened and closed
with the dials underneath them.

CENTER VENT

Climate Control System
Only on EX-V6 model

The automatic climate control system in your Honda picks the
proper combination of air condi-
tioning, heating, and ventilation to maintain the interior temperature
you select. The system also adjusts the fan speed and air flow levels.
The direction of air flow from the vents in the center and each side ofthe dashboard is adjustable.
The climate control system draws air through the exterior vents at the
bottom of the windshield. Keep
these vents clear of leaves and other debris.
For the climate control system to
provide heating and cooling, the
engine must be running. CENTER VENTS
To adjust the air flow from the center vent, move the tab up-and-down and side-to-side. DRIVER'S-SIDE VENT
On the driver's-side vent, move the
vent up-and-down and move the tab side-to-side. On the passenger's-side
vent, move the tab up-and-down and move the vent side-to-side.
The side vents can be opened and closed with the dials underneath
them.

Climate Control System

Recirculation Button
This button controls the source of the air going into the system. When
the indicator above this button is lit, air from the car's interior is sent
through the system again (Recircula-
tion mode). When the indicator is off, air is brought in from outside the car
(Fresh Air mode).
You can, for example, manually put the system in recirculation mode
when driving through an area of smoke or fumes.

Fan Control Dial

You can manually select the fan speed by turning the fan control dial.
When you turn the dial clockwise, the fan is taken out of automatic
mode and starts to run at its lowestspeed. Turning the dial fully
clockwise increases the fan's speed,
which increases air flow. MODE BUTTON

vents in all modes. Each time you press the MODE button, the displayshows the mode selected. Press the
button four times to see all the
