If a transmitter has been lost or if you would like to purchase additional
transmitters for your vehicle (up to four may be programmed into
memory), takeallyour vehicle's transmitters to your dealer or perform
the reprogramming procedure yourself. It will be necessary to reprogram
allthe transmitters to the vehicle at the same time while performing this
procedure.
Reprogramming transmitters
To reprogram the transmitters yourself, place the key in the ignition and
turn from LOCK to OFF and cycle between OFF and ON eight times in
rapid succession (within 10 seconds) ending in the ON position. After
doors lock/unlock, press any control on all transmitters (up to four).
With each control press of the transmitters, the door should cycle
(lock/unlock) to confirm programming. When completed, turn the
ignition to OFF. The door locks should cycle (lock/unlock) one last time
to confirm completion of programming.
Memory seat/mirrors/adjustable pedal feature (if equipped)
The memory feature allows automatic positioning of the driver seat, side
mirrors and adjustable pedals to two programmable positions.
²To program position one, move the driver seat, both side mirrors, and
adjustable pedals to the desired positions. Press the SET control. The
SET control indicator light will briefly illuminate. While the light is
illuminated, press control 1.

To program position two, repeat the previous procedure using control 2.
The memory feature also allows you to recall previously stored positions
with your remote transmitter(s).
Press the memory feature control to move to the previously stored
seat/mirror/adjustable pedal positions.

The system is ready to arm whenever the key is removed from the
ignition. Any of the following actions will prearm the alarm system:
²Press the remote entry lock control
²Press the interior power door lock control while the door is open
Twenty seconds after one of the above events occurs, any door/hood that
is closed is armed.
Any door/hood that still open is prearmed and waiting for the door/hood
to be closed.
Once that input is closed, the input will arm in 20 seconds and the
exterior lamps may flash.
Disarming the system
You can disarm the system by any of the following actions:
²Press the transmitter unlock control.
²Unlock the doors with a key.
²Turn a programmed SecuriLock key to RUN /START.
SECURILOCKYPASSIVE ANTI-THEFT SYSTEM
SecuriLockypassive anti-theft system is an engine immobilization
system. This system prevents the engine from being started unless a
coded key programmed to your vehicleis used.
The SecuriLockypassive anti-theft system is not compatible with
non-Ford aftermarket remote start systems. Use of these systems may
result in vehicle starting problems and a loss of security protection.
Automatic arming
The vehicle is armed immediately
after switching the ignition to the 3
(OFF) position. The
THEFTlight in
the instrument cluster will flash
every two seconds when the vehicle
is armed.3

Automatic disarming
Switching the ignition to the 4 (ON) position with acoded keydisarms
the vehicle. The
THEFTlight will illuminate for three seconds and then
go out. If the
THEFTlight stays on for an extended period of time or
flashes rapidly, have the system serviced by your dealership or a
qualified technician.
Key information
Your vehicle is supplied withtwo
coded keys.Only acoded keywill
start your vehicle. Spare coded keys
can be purchased from your
dealership. Your dealership can
program your key or you can ªdo it
yourselfº, refer toProgramming
spare keys.
The SecuriLockypassive anti-theft
system is not compatible with

result in vehicle starting problems

Large metallic objects, electronic
devices on the key chain that can be
used to purchase gasoline or similar
items, or a second key on the same
key ring as thecoded keyignition
key may cause vehicle starting
issues. If present, you need to keep
these objects from touching the
coded keyignition key while
starting the engine. These objects
and devices cannot damage the
coded keyignition key, but can cause a momentary issue if they are too
close to the key during engine start. If a problem occurs, turn ignition
OFF and restart the engine with all other objects on the key ring held
away from the ignition key. Check to make sure thecoded keyignition
key is an approved Fordcoded keyignition key.

Cargo Area Features
Cargo net (if equipped)
The cargo net secures lightweight objects in the cargo area. Attach the
net to the anchors provided. Do not put more than 22 kg (50 lbs.) in the
net. This net is not designed to restrain objects during a collision.
Utility hooks (if equipped)
The utility hooks can be used to
hang small items. Do not hang more
than 12 kg (20 lbs.) on each of the
hooks. The hooks are not designed
to restrain objects during a collision.

Always drive and ride with your seatback upright and the lap
belt snug and low across the hips.
Reclining the seatback can reduce the effectiveness of the seat's
safety belt in the event of a collision.
Press control to move front or rear
of seat up and down.
Press control to raise or lower the
seat, or to move the seat forward or
backward.
Heated seats (if equipped)
To operate the heated seats:
²Push the control located on the
seat to activate.
²Push again to deactivate.
The indicator light on the control will illuminate when activated.

Using the power lumbar support (if equipped)
The power lumbar control is located
on the inboard side of the seat.
Press one side of the control to
adjust firmness.
Press the other side of the control
to adjust softness.
Memory seats/rearview mirrors/adjustable pedals (if equipped)
This system allows automatic
positioning of the driver seat,
outside rearview mirrors, and
adjustable pedals to two
programmable positions.
The memory seat control is located
on the driver door.
²To program position one, move
the driver seat to the desired
position using the seat controls.

A position can only be recalled when the transmission gearshift is in
Park. A memory seat position may be programmed at any time.
The memory seat positions are also recalled when you press your remote

Rear seats
Head restraints
Your vehicle's seats may be equipped with head restraints which are
vertically adjustable. The purpose of these head restraints is to help limit
head motion in the event of a rear collision. To properly adjust your head
restraints, lift the head restraint so that it is located directly behind your
head or as close to that position as possible. Refer to the following to
raise and lower the head restraints.

SAFETY RESTRAINTS
Personal Safety System
The Personal Safety System provides an improved overall level of frontal
crash protection to front seat occupants and is designed to help further
reduce the risk of air bag-related injuries. The system is able to analyze
different occupant conditions and crash severity before activating the
appropriate safety devices to help better protect a range of occupants in
a variety of frontal crash situations.
Your vehicle's Personal Safety System consists of:
²Driver and passenger dual-stage air bag supplemental restraints.
²Front safety belts with pretensioners, energy management retractors,
and safety belt usage sensors.
²Driver's seat position sensor.
²Passenger occupant classification sensor (if equipped).
²Front crash severity sensor.
²Restraints Control Module (RCM) with impact and safing sensors.
²Restraint system warning light and back-up tone.
²The electrical wiring for the air bags, crash sensor(s), safety belt
pretensioners, front safety belt usage sensors, driver seat position
sensor, passenger occupant classification sensor (if equipped), and
indicator lights.
How does the personal safety system work?
The Personal Safety System can adapt the deployment strategy of your
vehicle's safety devices according to crash severity and occupant
conditions. A collection of crash and occupant sensors provides
information to the Restraints Control Module (RCM). During a crash, the
RCM activates the safety belt pretensioners and/or either one or both
stages of the dual-stage air bag supplemental restraints based on crash
severity and occupant conditions.
The fact that the pretensioners or air bags did not activate for both front
seat occupants in a collision does not mean that something is wrong with
the system. Rather, it means the Personal Safety System determined the
accident conditions (crash severity, belt usage, etc.) were not
appropriate to activate these safety devices. Front air bags and
pretensioners are designed to activate only in frontal and near-frontal

Determining if the Personal Safety System is operational
The Personal Safety System uses a warning light in the instrument
cluster or a back-up tone to indicate the condition of the system. Refer
to theRestraints Warning Lightsection in theInstrumentation
chapter. Routine maintenance of the Personal Safety System is not
required.
The Restraints Control Module (RCM) monitors its own internal circuits
and the circuits for the air bag supplemental restraints, crash sensor(s),
safety belt pretensioners, front safety belt buckle sensors, driver seat
position sensor, and passenger occupant classification sensor (if
equipped). In addition, the RCM also monitors the restraints warning
light in the instrument cluster. A difficulty with the system is indicated
by one or more of the following.
²The warning light will either flash or stay lit.
²The warning light will not illuminate immediately after ignition is
turned on.
²A series of five beeps will be heard. The tone pattern will repeat
periodically until the problem and warning light are repaired.
If any of these things happen, even intermittently, have the Personal
Safety System serviced at your dealership or by a qualified technician
immediately. Unless serviced, the system may not function properly in
the event of a collision.
Safety belt precautions
Always drive and ride with your seatback upright and the lap
belt snug and low across the hips.
To reduce the risk of injury, make sure children sit where they
can be properly restrained.
Never let a passenger hold a child on his or her lap while the
vehicle is moving. The passenger cannot protect the child from
injury in a collision.
