Engine - Intake Manifold Gasket LH
In-vehicle Repair
Removal
WARNING: BEFORE PROCEEDING, IT IS ESSENTIAL THAT THE WARNINGS GIVEN IN SECTION 100-00 (UNDER THE
HEADING 'SAFETY PRECAUTIONS') ARE READ AND UNDERSTOOD. 1.
Open the engine compartment and fit paintwork protection
sheets.
2. Disconnect the batt ery ground cable.
Remove the battery cover.
3. Depressurise the fuel system.
Ensure that the ignition is switched off and remove the
valve cap from the fuel cross-over pipe. Place a cloth
under the valve to collect any spillage.
Place a closed container, su itable for collecting fuel,
adjacent to the vehicle. Remove the lid.
4. Connect the fuel injection pres sure test equipment 310 - 058
(or other suitable type). Insert the drain / bleed tube into the
fuel container. Follow the ma nufacturer's instructions and
depressurise the fuel system.
5. Store the drained fuel safely and ensure that the lid is closed
securely. Remove the equipmen t and discard the cloth from
beneath the valve. refit the valve cap.
6. Drain the radiator coolant. Refer to Operation 26.10.01.
7. Disconnect the breather pipe fro m the A-Bank camshaft cover.
1. Disconnect the breather pipe from the stub pipe.
2. Remove and discard the O-ring seal from the breather

Remove the battery cover.

Installation
1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
Remove the battery cover.
2. Remove the engine compartment cover (bonnet) for improved
access to the fro nt of the engine. Refer to Operation 76.16.01.
3. Remove the Crankshaft Sprocket B-Bank. Refer to Operation
12.65.76.
4. Remove the oil pump.
1. Remove the four bolts which secure the oil pump to the cylinder block.
2. Remove the oil pump.
3. Remove the gasket.
5. Clean and inspect all compon ents and mating faces.
1. Fit the oil pump to the cylinder block.
1. Fit a new gasket to the block face.
2. Fit the oil pump onto the front of the crankshaft, to
the block face; ensure that the drive flats on the

Installation
1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
Remove the battery cover.
2. Remove the engine compartment cover (bonnet) for improved
access to the fro nt of the engine. Refer to Operation 76.16.01
(SC).
3. Remove the Crankshaft Sprocket B-Bank. Refer to Operation
12.65.76 (SC).
4. Remove the oil pump.
1. Remove the four bolts which secure the oil pump to the cylinder block.
2. Remove the oil pump.
3. Remove the gasket.
5. Clean and inspect all compon ents and mating faces.
1. Fit the oil pump to the cylinder block.
1. Fit a new gasket to the block face.
2. Fit the oil pump onto the front of the crankshaft, to

Removal
1. Open the engine compartment and fit paintwork protection
sheets.
2. Set the engine compartment cover to the service access
position.
3. Disconnect the batt ery ground cable.
Remove the battery cover.
4. Remove the Timing Co ver. Refer to Operation 12.65.01 in this
Section.
5. Remove the VVT Bush Carrier Assembly from the B-Bank.
Refer to Operation 12.65.52 in this Section.
6. Remove the Timing Chain Tens ioner - Primary, from the B-
Bank. Refer to Operation 12.65.55 in this Section.
7. Fit a Tie-Strap through the link s of the primary chain, just
above the crankshaft sprocket, to retain the chain to the
sprocket.
8. Rotate the inlet camshaft (and the exhaust camshaft), using a
spanner on the flats, to provide sufficient slack in the chain to
remove the chain tensioner blade.
9. Remove the chain tensioner blade.
1. Remove the pivot bolt which secures the tensioner blade.
