UTIONS:
Replacement of nuts and bolts: Various thread-locking de vices are used on nuts and bolts throughout the vehicle.
These devices restrict the number of times a nut or bolt can be used. See section 100-00 for information.
Remove brake fluid spilla ge immediately from paint work, with clean water.
In
stallation

Position vehicl
e on a four-post lift.
2. Open hood and fit suitable pa intwork protection equipment.
3. Disconnect battery ground cabl e. (IMPORTANT, see 86.15.19
for further information).
4. Remove engine compartment rear cover. Refer to operation
76.11.35.
5. Remove pedal housing, brake booster and master cylinder
assembly. Refer to operation 70.35.39.
6. Remove brake booster and master cylinder assembly. Refer to
operation 70.50.18.
7. Remove brake wa
rning-light switch.

t and bolt.
Slide sw
itch forward to release from locating tag.
8. Re
move throttle pedal assembly.
1. Remove and discard retaining wire.
2. Remove pivot pins.
3. Remove throttle pedal assembly.
4. Remove return spring.
9. Clean components and mating surfaces.
1. Apply grease to pivot pins.
2. Install throttle pedal assembly.
1. Align throttle assembly.

Heating and Ventilation - Heater Core and Evaporator Core Housing
Removal and Installation
Removal
1. Disconnect battery ground cable (IMPORTANT, see SRO
86.15.19 for further information).
2. Recover refrigerant from air co nditioning system; refer to
82.30.30.
3. Drain radiator coolant only; refer to 26.10.01 or (SC)
26.10.01.
4. Remove instrument panel for access, refer to 76.46.01.
5. From under the hood: Disconnect air conditioning pipes at the
evaporator.
1. Remove bolts.
2. Discard O-rings.
3. Install suitable blanking plugs.
6. Disconnect heater hoses from heater matrix pipes.
1. Release spring band clips and disconnect heater hoses.
2. Install suitable blanking plugs.
7. From inside the vehicle: re move driver footwell duct.
Remove screw.
Remove duct.
8. Remove upper steering column lower fixings.
1. Remove nut.
2. Remove bolt.

Air Conditioning - Condenser Core
Removal and Installation
Removal
1. Disconnect battery ground cable (IMPORTANT, see SRO
86.15.19 for further information).
2. Drain radiator coolant only; refer to 26.10.01 or (SC)
26.10.01.
3. Recover refrigerant from air co nditioning system; refer to
82.30.30.
4. Release both gas struts, set the engine cover fully forward to
the service access position an d support with a wooden (or
similar) strut.
5. CAUTION: Take care not to damage hood or radiator
grille.
Remove twin fan and motor as sembly; refer to 26.25.12.
6. Disconnect radiator bleed hose.
Release connection.
7. Remove retaining clip which secures transmission oil cooler
upper and lower pipes.
8. Disconnect transmission oil cooler lower pipe from radiator.
1. Release union nut and disconne ct pipe.
Discard O-ring seal.
2. Install suitable blanking plugs.
9. From above the vehicle, discon nect transmission oil cooler
upper pipe from radiator.
1. Release union nut and disconne ct pipe.
Discard O-ring seal.
2. Install suitable blanking plugs.

Exterior Lighting - High Beam Headlamp Bulb

Installation
1.
Open hood and install fender cover.
2. Release headlamp bulb holder locking tangs and remove holder from headlamp.
3. CAUTION: If the bulb is to be re-fitted, the glass must
not be touched with the bare hand . Failure to observe this caution
will result in premature bulb failure
Position bulb holder for access and remove bulb.
1. CAUTION: Headlamp bulbs are of the halogen type and
must not be handled with bare hands. Failure to observe this
caution will result in premature bulb failure.
Install headlamp bulb in holder.
2. Install bulb holder in headlamp ensuring that securing tangs
are fully seated.
3. Remove fender cover and close hood.

1.
Open hood and install fender cover.
2. Release headlamp bulb holder locking tangs and remove holder from headlamp.

Front End Body Panels - Radiator Grille Opening Panel Reinforcement Removal and Installation

Installation
1.
Remove radiator grilles. Refer to 76.55.03.
2. Remove radiator grille surround. (Refer to 76.55.15)
3. Open hood.
4. Fit front fender cover.
5. Slacken headlamp trim panel to headlamp securing screw.
6. Carefully release headlamp trim panel fir tree fastener from BIW
and remove panel from vehicle.
7. Remove securing screw from trim panel and remove and discard fir
tree fastener.
1. Fit new fir tree fastener to headlamp trim panel.
2. Fit but do not tighten securing screw to headlamp trim panel.
3. Position headlamp trim panel on BIW front panel, locating securing
screw in headlamp slot.
4. Fully seat fir tree fastener in BIW front panel.
5. Finally tighten headlamp trim panel securing screw.
6. Close hood and remove fender cover.
7. Fit radiator grill surround. Refer to 76.55.15
8. Fit radiator grilles. Refer to 76.55.03.

Body Closures - Hood
Removal and Installation
Removal
1. CAUTION: The hood assembly must be fully supported
throughout the following procedure.
Fit fender covers.
2. Open hood and apply protective masking tape to forward edge
of hood. at rear of ra diator grill surround.
3. Ensure that the hood is adequately supported.
4. Slacken the six hood to hinge securing bolts.
5. Disconnect upper end of each gas strut from hood pivot.
6. With the hood fully supported , remove the securing bolts
and position ground strap clear of hood.
7. Remove hood from vehicle.
8. Release hood front seal securi ng pegs and remove seal from
hood.

Removal
Installation
1.
Open hood and fit fender covers.
2. Install suitable supports for hood.
3. Release retaining clip in stru t upper end and disconnect end
from pivot.
4. Release retaining clip at stru t lower end and disconnect end
from pivot.
5. Remove strut from vehicle.
1. Fit strut body end to lower pivot ensuring that clip fully seats.
2. Fit strut rod end to upper pivot en suring that clip fully seats.
3. Remove hood supports and check that hood closes correctly.
4. Remove fender covers.
