1. Turn the key counterclockwise to unlock the
back door.
2. Pull the opener handle to open the back
door.
3. To lock the back door, push it down firmly
and turn the key clockwise.
IAlways check the back door has been
closed securely to prevent it from
opening while driving.
IDo not drive with the back door open.This could allow dangerous exhaust
gases to be drawn into the vehicle.
To open the rear window, turn the key fully
clockwise and pull the opener handle. To
close, lower and push the rear window down
securely.
Do not drive with the rear window open.
This could allow dangerous exhaust
gases to be drawn into the vehicle.

Open the rear window after the wiper
returns to the STOP position.
1. Pull the hood lock release handle located
below the instrument panel; the hood will
then spring up slightly.
2. Raise the lever at the front of the hood with
your fingertips and raise the hood.3. Insert the assist bar into the slot in the front
edge of the hood.
4. When closing the hood, reset the assist bar
to its original position, then slowly close the
hood and make sure it locks into place.
Always check that the hood is closed
and locked securely to prevent it from
opening while driving. The vehicle
should only ever be operated with the

hood securely closed.
The glove box may be opened by turning the
key as shown.
Keep glove box lid closed while driving
to prevent injury in an accident or during
a sudden stop.
Opener lever
To open the fuel filler lid, push the opener lever
down. To lock, close the fuel filler lid securely.

SEAT ADJUSTMENT
IDo not adjust the driver's seat while
driving. The seat may move suddenly
and could cause loss of control of the
vehicle.
IAfter adjustment, gently rock in the
seat to make sure it is securely
locked.
IThe seatback should not be reclined
any more than needed for comfort.
Seat belts are most effective when
the passenger sits well back and
straight up in the seat. If the seat is
reclined, the risk of sliding under the
lap belt and being injured is in-
creased.
Forward and backward
Pull the lever up while you slide the seat
forward or backward to the desired position.Release the lever to lock the seat in position.
Reclining
Pull the lever up and lean back until the
desired angle is obtained. To bring the seat
back forward again, pull the lever and move
your body forward. The seat back will move
forward.

Folding
1. Remove the head restraints.
2. Pull the strap forward and fold the seat
cushion up.
3. Pull the lever and pull the seat back forward
to fold it down.
4. When resetting the seat, be sure to install
the head restraints.INever allow anyone to ride in the
luggage area or on the rear seat when
it is in the fold-down position.
IIt is extremely dangerous to ride in a
cargo area inside of a vehicle. In a
collision, people riding in these areas
are more likely to be seriously injured
or killed.
IDo not allow people to ride in any
area of your vehicle that is notequipped with seats and seat belts.
IBe sure everyone in your vehicle is in
a seat and using a seat belt properly.
IHead restraints should be adjusted
properly as they may provide signifi-
cant protection against whiplash in-
jury. Always replace and adjust them
properly if they have been removed
for any reason.
IIf the head restraints are removed for
any reason, they should be securely
stored to prevent them from causing
damage to passengers or the vehicle
in case of sudden braking or
collision.

back at the desired angle. Release the reclin-
ing lever after positioning the seat at the
desired angle.

PRECAUTIONS ON SEAT BELT
USAGE
Your chances of being injured or killed in an
accident and/or the severity of injury may be
greatly reduced if you are wearing your seat
belt and it is properly adjusted. NISSAN
strongly encourages you and all of your pas-
sengers to buckle up every time you drive,
even if your seating position includes a supple-
mental air bag.
Some states, provinces or territories re-
quire that seat belts be worn at all times
when a vehicle is being driven.
IEvery person who drives or rides in
this vehicle should use a seat belt at
all times. Children should be in ap-
propriate child restraints.
IThe belt should be adjusted properly
and to a snug fit. Failure to do so will
reduce the effectiveness of the entire
restraint system and increase the
chance or severity of injury in an
accident.
IDo not wear the belt inside out ortwisted. Be sure the seat belt tongue
is securely fastened to the proper
buckle.
IDo not allow more than one person to
use the same belt.
IAll seat belt assemblies including re-
tractors and attaching hardware
should be inspected by your NISSAN
dealer after any collision. NISSAN
recommends that all seat belt assem-
blies in use during a collision be
replaced unless the collision was mi-
nor and the belts show no damage
and continue to operate properly.
Seat belt assemblies not in use dur-
ing a collision should also be in-
spected and replaced if either dam-
age or improper operation is noted.
INever carry more people in the ve-
hicle than there are seat belts.
If the seat belt warning lamp glows con-
tinuously while the ignition is turned
ªONº with all doors closed and all seat
belts fastened, it may indicate a mal-
function in the system. Have the system
checked by your NISSAN dealer.Be sure to observe the following cau-
tions when using seat belts. Failure to
do so could increase the chance and/or
severity of injury in an accident.
IAlways route the shoulder belt over
your shoulder and across your chest.
Never run the belt under your arm or
across your neck. The belt should be
away from your face and neck, but
not falling off your shoulder.
IPosition the lap belt as low as pos-
sible AROUND THE HIPS, NOT THE
WAIST.
ISerious injury or death can occur if
the seat belt is not worn properly.
CHILD SAFETY
Children need adults to help protect them.
All U.S. states and provinces of Canada re-
quire the use of approved child restraints for
infants and small children. (See ªChild re-
straints for infants and small childrenº later in
this section.)
In addition, there are many types of child
restraints available for larger children which
should be used for maximum protection.

IGrasp the shoulder belt and pull quickly
forward. The retractor should lock and re-
strict further belt movement.
If the retractor does not lock during this check
or if you have any question about belt opera-
tion, see your NISSAN dealer.
Shoulder belt height adjustment
The shoulder belt anchor height should be
adjusted to the position best suited for you
(see ªPrecautions on Seat Belt Usageº). To
adjust, push the release button, then move it to
the desired position so that the belt passes
over the shoulder.
After adjustment, release the button and
check that it does not move it up and
down to make sure the shoulder beltanchor is securely fixed in position.
