Checking voltage supply
If voltage tester does not light up: - Disconnect intake manifold change-over valve harness connector.
- Connect VAG 1527B voltage tester between harness connector
terminal 1 and Ground (GND) using jumper wires from connector test
kit VW 1594.
- Use scan tool "Output Diagnostic Test Mode" function 03 to trigger fuel
pump relay -J17- page 01

Voltage tester must light up
- Check fuse for intake manifold change-over valve.
- Check wiring for continuity between intake manifold change-over valve
harness connector terminal 1 and fuse, using wiring diagram.
Specified value: max. 1.0 - Check fuel pump relay and triggering page 24

Checking triggering
If voltage tester does not flash, or lights up constantly:
If voltage tester lights constantly:
If voltage tester does not flash: - Connect VAG 1527B voltage tester between intake manifold change-
over valve connector terminal 1 (B+) and 2 using jumper wires from
connector test kit VW 1594.
- Use scan tool "Output Diagnostic Test Mode" function 03 to trigger

Voltage tester must flash
- Connect VAG 1598/19 test box to ECM page 01

- Check wiring from intake manifold change-over valve connector
terminal 2 to test box socket B4 to Ground (GND).
- Check wiring for continuity between terminal 2 of intake manifold
change-over valve connector and socket B4 of test box.
Specified value: max. 1.0
If wiring is OK: - If necessary eliminate break in wiring or short to Ground.
