Downloaded from www.Manualslib.com manuals search engine If there is no curb
when you’re parking
uphill, turn the wheels
to the right.
If there is no curb when you’re parking uphill on the left side of a
one-way street, your wheels should be turned to the left.
Torque Lock (Automatic Transaxle)
If you are parking on a hill and you don’t shift your transaxle into “P”
(Park) properly, the weight of the vehicle may put too much force on the
parking pawl in the transaxle. You may find it difficult to pull the shift
lever out
of “P” (Park). This is called “torque lock.’’ To prevent torque
lock, always be sure to shift into “P” (Park) properly before you leave the
driver’s seat. To find out how, see “Shifting Into
“P” (Park)” in the Index.
If “torque lock” does occur, you may need to have another vehicle push
yours
a little uphill to take some of the pressure from the transaxle, so
you can pull the shift lever out of “P” (Park).
Downloaded from www.Manualslib.com manuals search engine Tighten the wheel nuts firmly in a criss-cross sequence as shown.
A CAUTION:
Incorrect wheel nuts or improperly tightened wheel nuts can
cause the wheel to become loose and even come
off. This could
lead
to an accident. Be sure to use the correct wheel nuts. If you
have to replace them, be sure to get the right kind. Stop
somewhere
as soon as you can and have the nuts tightened with
a torque wrench to 140 N*m (100 ft. lbs.). I
Don’t try to put a wheel cover on your compact spare tire. It won’t fit.
Store the wheel cover in the trunk until you have the flat tire repaired or
replaced.

Downloaded from www.Manualslib.com manuals search engine How to Check Use a good quality pocket-type gage to check tire
pressure. Simply looking at the tires will not tell you the pressure,
especially if you have radial tires
-- which may look properly inflated even
if they’re underinflated.
If your tires have valve caps, be sure to put them back on. They help
prevent leaks by keeping out dirt and moisture.
Tire Inspection and Rotation
To make your tires last longer, have them inspected and rotated at the
mileages recommended in your Maintenance Schedule. See “Scheduled Maintenance Service” in the Index.
FRONT Use this rotation pattern.
After the tires have been rotated, adjust the front and rear inflation
pressure as shown on the Tire-Loading Information label. Make certain
that all wheel nuts are properly tightened.
See “Wheel Nut Torque” in the
Index.
