Engine Coolant
Temperature Gauge
Displays the engine coolant
temperature. The blue range of the
gauge indicates that the engine coolant
temperature is low, and the red range
of the gauge indicates that the engine
coolant temperature is high and
overheating.
CAUTION
If the engine coolant temperature
gauge needle is in the red range, there
is the possibility of overheating. Drive
slowly to reduce engine load.
Refer to Taking Action with
Overheating on page 8-20.
High Voltage Battery Powe r G au ge
The remaining power of the high
voltage battery is indicated when the
vehicle power is switched ON.
When the high voltage battery is fully
charged, F is indicated. As the level
lowers, the needle approaches E.
NOTE
After charging, it may require some
time for the needle to stabilize.
The arrow indicates that the
charging port is on the right side.

i-ACTIV AWD
AWD demonstrates superior driving
performance on slippery surfaces such
as snow-covered roads, sandy areas,
mud, and steep slopes.
Warnings and Cautionsfor Using the i-ACTIV AWD
WARNING
Do not rotate wheels that have left
the ground due to the vehicle being
stuck or in a ditch.
The drive component can be seriously
damaged, resulting in an accident. It
can also lead to overheating, oil
leakage, and fire.
CAUTION
This vehicle is not designed for
off-road and rally driving. Do not drive
over rough rocky roads and river beds.

Warnings and Cautionsfor Using the Emission Control System
WARNING
Never park over or near anything
flammable.
Parking over or near anything
flammable, such as dry grass, is
dangerous. Even with the engine
turned off, the exhaust system remains
very hot after normal use and could
ignite anything flammable. A resulting
fire could cause serious injury or death.
CAUTION
Ignoring the following precautions
could cause lead to accumulate on the
catalyst inside the converter or cause
the converter to get very hot. Either
condition will dama
ge the converter
and cause poor performance.
USE ONLY UNLEADED FUEL.
Do not drive your Mazda with any
sign of engine malfunction.
Do not coast if the vehicle power is
switched OFF.
Do not descend steep grades in gear
if the vehicle power is switched OFF.
Do not operate the engine at high
idle for more than 2 minutes.
Do not tamper with the emission
control system. All inspections and
adjustments must be made by a
qualified technician.
Do not push-start or pull-start this
vehicle.
Warnings and Cautions
for Engine Exhaust
(Carbon monoxide)
WARNING
Do not drive your vehicle if you smell
exhaust gas inside the vehicle:
Engine exhaust gas is dangerous. This
gas contains carbon monoxide (CO),
which is colorless, odorless, and
poisonous. When inhaled, it can cause
loss of consciousness and death. If you
smell exhaust gas inside the vehicle,
keep all windows fully open and
contact an Authorized Mazda Dealer
immediately.
Do not run the engine when inside an
enclosed area:
Running the engine inside an enclosed
area, such as a garage, is dangerous.
Exhaust gas, which contains poisonous
carbon monoxide, could easily enter
the cabin. Loss of consciousness or
even death could occur.
Open the windows or adjust the
heating or cooling system to draw
fresh air when idling the engine:
Exhaust gas is dangerous. When the
vehicle is stopped with the windows
closed and the engine running for a
long time even in an open area,
exhaust gas, which contains poisonous
carbon monoxide, could enter the
cabin. Loss of consciousness or even
death could occur.

Climate control timer
The climate control timer is a function
which operates the cooling or heating
system automatically according to a
preset time. The power consumption
of the air conditioner after starting to
drive the vehicle is reduced by
operating the air conditioner and
providing a comfortable temperature
in the cabin before driving.
Refer to Convenient Ways to Use the
Fully Automatic Air-Conditioning on
page 6-12.
Charge Connector Lock
The charge connector lock is a function
which locks the charge connector con-
nected to the vehicle so that it cannot
be pulled out. You can also select the
lock conditions for the charge connec-
tor according to locations and situa-
tions.
1. Select Settings from the homescreen on Mazda Connect.
2. Select EV Settings from the setting screen.
3. Select Charge Connector Lock from the selection screen.
4. Set the lock condition from the se- lection screen.
Available setting changes
Locked When Charging
Unlocks connector when charging is complete
or vehicle is unlocked.
Locked When Connected
Unlocks connector only when vehicle is un-
locked.
Available setting changes
Off
Charge connector remains unlocked at all
times.
Functions using a Smartphone
You can check the remaining high
voltage battery power, operate the
charging, and operate the air
conditioner remotely by a Smartphone
remote control operation using the
Connected Service. For details, consult
an Authorized Mazda Dealer.

NOTE
The recommended set temperature
is 22 °C (72 °F). If you set an
extremely high or low temperature,
power consumption will increase
and the charging time will take
longer.
If you operate the cabin
preconditioning while the charge
connector is connected, you can
reduce the electric power
consumption of the high voltage
battery.
While the cabin preconditioning is
operating , the indicator light for the
climate control power switch turns
on.
The cabin preconditioning operates
for 20 minutes. If you set the
departure time using the climate
control timer, set it 20 minutes or
later from the current time and if you
want to make several settings, space
them out at intervals of 30 minutes
or longer.
How to set the Climate Control Timer
1. Select “Settings” from the Mazda Connect home screen.
2. Select “EV Settings”.
3. Select “Climate Control Timer”.
