affected vehicle systems are dependent on
vehicle trim level, region, and optional
features.
If the vehicle is in Tour or AWD Mode, it
will stay in that mode through future
ignition cycles. If the vehicle is in any other
mode, it will return to Tour Mode when the
vehicle is restarted. When a mode is
selected, an indicator will come on in the
instrument cluster and stay on.
Driver Mode Control Switch
To activate each mode, press the MODE
button on the center console.
Tour Mode : Use for normal city and
highway driving to provide a smooth ride.
This setting provides balance between comfort and handling. This is the standard/
default mode. There is no persistent
indicator in the instrument cluster for
this mode.
AWD Mode :
AWD Mode provides torque to
all four wheels. Select AWD to improve
traction and control on slippery road
surfaces, such as gravel, sand, wet
pavement, snow, and ice. For more
information on AWD Mode, see All-Wheel
Drive 0186.
Sport Mode : Use where road conditions or
personal preference demand a more
controlled response. Sport Mode improves
vehicle handling and acceleration on dry
pavement. When active, Sport Mode
modifies steering efforts, transmission
shifting, and AWD torque, if equipped.
The Performance Algorithm Liftfoot (PAL)
feature is enabled in Sport Mode. PAL allows
the transmission to hold the current gear
after a quick release of a heavily applied
accelerator pedal. This provides greater
engine braking and enhanced vehicle control.
When PAL is activated, there may be an
additional gear symbol that appears in the
instrument cluster display. See Performance
Shifting Light 0105. Off-Road Mode :
Use this mode for off-road
recreational driving. When active, Off–Road
Mode should be used to improve driving at
moderate speeds, on grass, gravel, dirt,
unpaved roads, or snow-covered roads. The
accelerator pedal is tuned for off-road use.
This mode modifies pedal mapping, AWD,
ESC, and TCS Performance.
Snow/Ice Mode : Snow/Ice Mode improves
vehicle acceleration on snow and ice covered
roads. When active, Snow/Ice Mode will
adjust acceleration to optimize traction on
slippery surfaces. This can compromise the
acceleration on dry asphalt. This feature is
not intended for use when the vehicle is
stuck in sand, mud, ice, snow, or gravel.

qMy Mode : Use this mode to
personalize everyday driving. This mode
allows the driver to configure the vehicle
subsystem settings to their driving
preferences. My mode remains active across
on/off cycles.
Through the infotainment display, the
following vehicle subsystems may be
available for customization in this mode:
Acceleration Feel : Relaxed, Tour, Sport

.Press and hold the thumbwheel down to
SET−to decrease the set speed by 5 km/h
(5 mph). Release the thumbwheel when
the desired set speed is displayed in the
instrument cluster.
When using Speed Limiter in Auto mode,
there is a predefined minimum allowed
value of offset beyond which the set speed
cannot be decreased.
Accept or Decline Automatic Set Speed
Changes (Auto)
When Speed Limiter is in Auto mode, is
active, and a new speed limit sign is
detected, it will propose a new set speed
based on the detected speed limit sign. The
proposed new set speed will be displayed as
a message in the instrument cluster.
.To accept the new set speed, briefly
move the thumbwheel down to SET− and
release it.
.To decline the new set speed, briefly
move the thumbwheel up to RES+ and
release it.
If you do not accept or decline the new
proposed set speed, there is no change to
the set speed. Conditions Affecting Automatic Speed
Limiter (Auto)
.There are changes in brightness, such as
entering and exiting tunnels, bridges, and
overpasses.
.There are low sun angles.
.Ambient lighting is poor in the evening or
early morning.
.There are multiple changes in brightness
or there are shadows along the roadway.
.There are conditions associated with low
visibility such as fog, rain, snow, or road
spray.
.The on-board camera’s view of the road is
blocked by leaves, snow, or other debris.
If Automatic Speed Limiter becomes
temporarily unavailable, change to
Manual mode.
Resuming Speed Limiter
If Speed Limiter was active but then
*was
pressed, Speed Limiter can be resumed using
the previous set speed. Briefly move the
thumbwheel up to RES+ and release it to
activate Speed Limiter using the previous set
speed. If Speed Limiter was turned off because
cruise control, ACC, or Super Cruise was
turned on, to use Speed Limiter again:
1. Turn off cruise control, ACC, or Super Cruise.
2. On the infotainment home screen, touch Controls > Drive (Drive & Park) > Speed
Limiter.
3. Select Manual or Auto.
Overriding Speed Limiter
When Speed Limiter is active, the set speed
can be temporarily overridden only when
you fully apply the accelerator pedal. You
can control vehicle acceleration again when
the vehicle speed is below the set speed.
Turning Off Speed Limiter
To turn off Speed Limiter, from the
infotainment home screen, touch Controls >
Drive (Drive & Park) > Speed Limiter > Off.Adaptive Cruise Control
(Advanced)
If equipped with Adaptive Cruise Control
(ACC), it allows the driver to select the
cruise control set speed and following gap.

J:Press to turn the system on or off. The
indicator turns white on the instrument
cluster when ACC is turned on.
RES+ : Press briefly to resume the previous
set speed or to increase vehicle speed if ACC
is already activated. To increase speed by
1 km/h (1 mph), press RES+ to the first
detent. To increase speed to the next
5 km/h (5 mph) mark on the speedometer,
press RES+ to the second detent.
SET– :Press briefly to set the speed and
activate ACC or to decrease vehicle speed if
ACC is already activated. To decrease speed
by 1 km/h (1 mph), press SET− to the first
detent. To decrease speed to the next
5 km/h (5 mph) mark on the speedometer,
press SET− to the second detent.
*:Press to disengage ACC without erasing
the selected set speed.
[: Press to select a following gap time
(or distance) setting for ACC of Far, Medium,
or Near.
Switching Between ACC and Regular Cruise
Control
To switch between ACC and regular cruise
control, press and hold

Information Display (DIC) message displays.

Indicator
When ACC is engaged, a green
\
indicator will be lit on the instrument cluster
and the following gap will be displayed.
When the regular cruise control is engaged,
a green
Jindicator will be lit on the
instrument cluster; the following gap will
not display. It is recommended to switch from ACC to
regular Cruise Control when there are no
vehicles ahead of your vehicle.
When the vehicle is turned on, the cruise
control mode will be set to the last mode
used before the vehicle was turned off.
{Warning
Always check the cruise control indicator
on the instrument cluster to determine
which mode cruise control is in before
using the feature. If ACC is not active, the
vehicle will not automatically brake for
other vehicles, which could cause a crash
if the brakes are not applied manually.
You and others could be seriously injured
or killed.
Setting Adaptive Cruise Control
If
Jis on when not in use, it could get
pressed and go into cruise when not desired.
Keep
Joff when cruise is not being used.
Select the set speed desired for cruise. This
is the vehicle speed when no vehicle is
detected in its path.

objects when entering or exiting a curve.
This is normal operation. The vehicle does
not need service.
Other Vehicle Lane Changes
ACC will not detect a vehicle ahead until it
is completely in the lane. The brakes may
need to be manually applied.
Objects Not Directly in Front of Your Vehicle
The detection of objects in front of the
vehicle may not be possible if:
.The vehicle or object ahead is not within
your lane.
.The vehicle ahead is shifted, not centered,
or is shifted to one side of the lane.
Driving in Narrow Lanes
Vehicles in adjacent traffic lanes or roadside
objects may be incorrectly detected when
located along the roadway. Do Not Use ACC on Hills
Do not use ACC when driving on steep hills
as ACC may not detect a vehicle ahead.
Towing with ACC
If equipped when, towing a trailer, ACC
driving characteristics such as following gap,
acceleration rates and braking rates may be
modified to provide a better towing
experience.
ACC is not recommended with vehicles
equipped with aftermarket trailer brake
controllers. Aftermarket trailer brake
controllers may not activate the trailer
brakes while ACC is engaged. Aftermarket
trailer brake controller manual engagement
will not disable ACC.
ACC may be used when towing a trailer
when trailer attached is within GM-approved
allowable size and weight limits. See
Trailer
Towing 0253.
Use Tow/Haul mode when driving down
steep hills or mountain grades, or when
hauling heavy loads. See Driver Mode
Control 0190.
ACC maintains the set speed when driving
uphill and downhill while towing a trailer.
However, ACC may make a slight change to
the cruise speed while driving on moderate
hills if the combined vehicle and trailer
weight is close to the maximum Gross
Combined Weight Rating (GCWR). See Trailer
Towing 0253. This is normal ACC operation
and is necessary to maintain the set speed.
ACC may disengage if it detects that the
brake temperature exceeds the normal
range.
Disengaging ACC
There are three ways to disengage ACC:
.Step lightly on the brake pedal.
.Press*.
.PressJ.

Following Distance Indicator
The following distance to a moving vehicle
ahead in your path is indicated in following
time in seconds on the Driver Information
Center (DIC). SeeDriver Information Center
(DIC) 0111. The minimum following time is
0.5 seconds away. If there is no vehicle
detected ahead, or the vehicle ahead is out
of sensor range, dashes will be displayed.
Unnecessary Alerts
FCA may provide unnecessary alerts for
turning vehicles, vehicles in other lanes,
objects that are not vehicles, or shadows.
These alerts are normal operation and the
vehicle does not need service.
Cleaning the System
If the FCA system does not seem to operate
properly, this may correct the issue:
.Clean the outside of the windshield in
front of the rearview mirror.
.Clean the entire front of the vehicle.
.Clean the headlamps.
Automatic Emergency
Braking (AEB)
If equipped, the AEB system may help avoid
or reduce the harm caused by front-end
crashes. AEB also includes Intelligent Brake
Assist (IBA). When the system detects a
vehicle in the path ahead that is traveling in
the same direction, and that you may crash
into, it can provide a boost to braking,
or automatically brake the vehicle. This can
help avoid or lessen the severity of crashes
when driving in a forward gear. Depending
on the situation, the vehicle may
automatically brake moderately or hard. This
Automatic Emergency Braking can only
occur if a vehicle is detected. Vehicle
detection is shown by the Forward Collision
Alert (FCA) vehicle ahead indicator being lit.

The system works when driving in a forward
gear between 8 km/h (5 mph) and 80 km/h
(50 mph), or on vehicles with Adaptive
Cruise Control (ACC), above 4 km/h (2 mph).
It can detect vehicles up to approximately
60 m (197 ft).
{Warning
AEB is an emergency crash preparation
feature and is not designed to avoid
crashes. Do not rely on AEB to brake the
vehicle. AEB will not brake outside of its
operating speed range and only responds
to detected vehicles.
AEB may not:
.Detect a vehicle ahead on winding or
hilly roads.
.Detect all vehicles, especially vehicles
with a trailer, tractors, muddy
vehicles, etc.
.Detect a vehicle when weather limits
visibility, such as in fog, rain, or snow.
.Detect a vehicle ahead if it is partially
blocked by pedestrians or other
objects.
Complete attention is always required
while driving, and you should be ready to
take action and apply the brakes and/or
steer the vehicle to avoid crashes.
AEB may slow the vehicle to a complete
stop to try to avoid a potential crash. If this
happens, AEB may engage the Electric

Trailer Towing
General Towing Information
Only use towing equipment that has been
designed for the vehicle. Contact your dealer
or trailering dealer for assistance with
preparing the vehicle to tow a trailer. Read
the entire section before towing a trailer.
To tow a disabled vehicle, seeTransporting
a Disabled Vehicle 0317. To tow the vehicle
behind another vehicle such as a motor
home, see Recreational Vehicle Towing
0 318.
Only use unleaded gasoline with an octane
rating of 89 or higher. Using gasoline with a
lower octane rating while towing may
damage the engine and may not be covered
by the vehicle warranty. See Recommended
Fuel 0247.
Driving Characteristics and
Towing Tips
{Warning
You can lose control when towing a
trailer if the correct equipment is not
used or the vehicle is not driven properly.

For example, if the trailer is too heavy or
the trailer brakes are inadequate for the
load, the vehicle may not stop as
expected. You and others could be
seriously injured. The vehicle may also be
damaged, and the repairs would not be
covered by the vehicle warranty. Pull a
trailer only if all the steps in this section
have been followed. Ask your dealer for
advice and information about towing a
trailer with the vehicle.
Driving with a Trailer
Trailering is different than just driving the
vehicle by itself. Trailering means changes in
handling, acceleration, braking, durability,
and fuel economy. Successful, safe trailering
takes correct equipment, and it has to be
used properly.
The following information has many
time-tested, important trailering tips and
safety rules. Many of these are important
for your safety and that of your passengers.
Read this section carefully before pulling a
trailer. When towing a trailer:
.Become familiar with and follow all state
and local laws that apply to trailer
towing. These requirements vary from
state to state.
.State laws may require the use of
extended side view mirrors. If your
visibility is limited or restricted while
towing, install extended side view mirrors,
even if not required.
.Do not tow a trailer during the first
800 km (500 mi) of vehicle use to prevent
damage to the engine, axle, or other
parts.
.GM recommends performing an oil
change to the vehicle before heavy
towing.
.Do not drive over 80 km/h (50 mph) and
do not make starts at full throttle during
the first 800 km (500 mi) of trailer
towing.
.Vehicles can tow in D (Drive). If the
transmission downshifts too often, a
lower gear may be selected using Manual
Mode. See
Manual Mode 0185.

4. Turn the ignition to Service Mode. SeeIgnition Positions 0174.
5. Turn off the air conditioning.
6. Set the parking brake.
7. At the same time, press the accelerator and the brake for automatic transmission
vehicles for two seconds, then release.
At the end of the cycle, check the coolant
level in the surge tank and add coolant if it
is low. Turn off the vehicle, allow the
Electronic Control Module (ECM) to go to
sleep, about 2 minutes, and repeat Steps 3-7.
Listen for pump activation and movement of
the control valves while watching the level
of the coolant in the surge tank. If the tank
empties, turn the ignition off, carefully
remove the surge tank cap, refill to the
indicated mark, and repeat Steps 3-6. The fill
and air removal process will run for
approximately 10 minutes.
Engine Overheating
The vehicle has several indicators to warn of
the engine overheating. There is an engine coolant temperature
gauge on the instrument cluster. See
Engine
Coolant Temperature Gauge 099. The
vehicle may also display a message on the
Driver Information Center (DIC).
If the decision is made not to lift the hood
when this warning appears, get service help
right away. See Roadside Assistance Program
0 343.
If the decision is made to lift the hood,
make sure the vehicle is parked on a level
surface. Then check to see if the engine
cooling fan is running. If the engine is
overheating, the fan should be running. If it
is not, do not continue to run the engine.
Have the vehicle serviced.
Caution
Do not run the engine if there is a leak
in the engine cooling system. This can
cause a loss of all coolant and can
damage the system and vehicle. Have
any leaks fixed right away.
If Steam Is Coming from the Engine
Compartment
{Warning
Steam and scalding liquids from a hot
cooling system are under pressure.
Turning the pressure cap, even a little,
can cause them to come out at high
speed and you could be burned. Never
turn the cap when the cooling system,
including the pressure cap, is hot. Wait
for the cooling system and pressure cap
to cool.
If No Steam Is Coming from the Engine
Compartment
If an engine overheat warning is displayed
but no steam can be seen or heard, the
problem may not be too serious. Sometimes
the engine can get a little too hot when the
vehicle:
.Climbs a long hill on a hot day.
.Stops after high-speed driving.
.Idles for long periods in traffic.
If the overheat warning is displayed with no
sign of steam: 1. Turn the air conditioning off.

Cold Tire Pressure:The amount of air
pressure in a tire, measured in kPa
(kilopascal) or psi (pounds per square
inch) before a tire has built up heat
from driving. See Tire Pressure0292.
DOT Markings
:A code molded into the
sidewall of a tire signifying that the tire
is in compliance with the U.S.
Department of Transportation (DOT)
Motor Vehicle Safety Standards. The
DOT code includes the Tire Identification
Number (TIN), an alphanumeric
designator which can also identify the
tire manufacturer, production plant,
brand, and date of production.
GVWR
:Gross Vehicle Weight Rating.
See Vehicle Load Limits 0170.
GAWR FRT
:Gross Axle Weight Rating
for the front axle. See Vehicle Load
Limits 0170.
GAWR RR
:Gross Axle Weight Rating
for the rear axle. See Vehicle Load
Limits 0170. Intended Outboard Sidewall
:The side
of an asymmetrical tire, that must
always face outward when mounted on
a vehicle.
Kilopascal (kPa)
:The metric unit for air
pressure.
Light Truck (LT-Metric) Tire
:A tire used
on light duty trucks and some
multipurpose passenger vehicles.
Load Index
:An assigned number
ranging from 1 to 279 that corresponds
to the load carrying capacity of a tire.
Maximum Inflation Pressure
:The
maximum air pressure to which a cold
tire can be inflated. The maximum air
pressure is molded onto the sidewall.
Maximum Load Rating
:The load rating
for a tire at the maximum permissible
inflation pressure for that tire.
Occupant Distribution
:Designated
seating positions.
Outward Facing Sidewall
:The side of
an asymmetrical tire that has a
particular side that faces outward when
mounted on a vehicle. The side of the tire that contains a whitewall, bears
white lettering, or bears manufacturer,
brand, and/or model name molding
that is higher or deeper than the same
moldings on the other sidewall of
the tire.
Passenger (P-Metric) Tire
:A tire used
on passenger cars and some light duty
trucks and multipurpose vehicles.
Recommended Inflation Pressure
:
Vehicle manufacturer's recommended
tire inflation pressure as shown on the
tire placard. See Tire Pressure0292 and
Vehicle Load Limits 0170.
Radial Ply Tire
:A pneumatic tire in
which the ply cords that extend to the
beads are laid at 90 degrees to the
centerline of the tread.
Rim
:A metal support for a tire and
upon which the tire beads are seated.
Sidewall
:The portion of a tire between
the tread and the bead.
