*1: These lights turn on when the power switch is turned to ON mode to indi-
cate that a system check is being performed. They will turn off after the
hybrid system is on, or after a few seconds. There may be a malfunction in
a system if a light does not come on, or turn off. Have the veh icle
inspected by your Toyota dealer.
*2: This light turns on when the system is off.
*3: This light flashes to indicate that the system is operating.

*4: These indicators will illuminate in the following situations to indicate thatthe system initial check is being performed:
• When the BSM function or RCTA function is enabled and the powe r
switch is turned to ON mode.
• When the power switch is ON mode and the BSM function is enabl ed.
• When the power switch is ON mode and the RCTA function is enabled. (At this time, a buzzer will also sound).
The indicators will turn off after a few seconds. If the indicators do not
illuminate or turn off, or if a buzzer does not sound when the RCTA func-
tion is enabled, the system may be malfunctioning. Have the vehicle
inspected by your Toyota dealer.
*5: This light illuminates on the outside rear view mirrors.
*6: This light illuminates on the center panel.
*7: When the outside temperature is approximately 37°F (3°C) or lo wer, this
indicator will flash for approximately 10 seconds, then stay on .
WARNING
■If a safety system warning light does not come on
Should a safety system light such as the ABS and SRS warning lights not
come on when you start the hybrid system, this could mean that these sys-
tems are not available to help protect you in an accident, which could result
in death or serious injury. Have the vehicle inspected by your Toyota dealer
immediately if this occurs.

Hybrid System Indicator
Displays hybrid system output or regeneration level (P. 102)
Shift position (P. 2 1 6 )
Outside temperature
Displays the outside temperature within the range of -40°F (-40 °C) to
122°F (50°C). Low outside temperat ure indicator comes on when the
ambient temperature is 37°F (3°C) or lower.
Multi-information display
Presents the driver with a variety of vehicle data ( P. 104, 117)
Displays warning messages in case of a malfunction ( P. 507)
Speedometer
Fuel gauge
Displays the fuel level. In the following situations, the actua l fuel level may
not be displayed correctly:
• After refueling only a small amount (approximately 5 L or less )
• When stopped on a hill or other slope
• When driving on a slope or around a curve

Engine coolant temperature gauge
Displays the engine coolant temperature
The brightness of the instrumen t panel lights can be adjusted.

●The brightness of the meters is changed between day mode and ni ght

• Day mode: When the tail lights are off or when the tail lights are on but
the surrounding area is bright
• Night mode: When the tail lights are on and the surrounding ar ea is dark
● When in night mode, the brightness will be reduced slightly unless the
meters are set to the maximum brightness level.
■ Hybrid System Indicator
●By keeping the indicator needle within Eco area, more Eco-frien dly driving
can be achieved.
● Charge area indicates “regeneration”
* status. Regenerated energy will be
used to charge the hybrid battery (traction battery).
*: When used in this manual, “regeneration” refers to the convers ion of
energy created by the movement of the vehicle into electrical e nergy.
The Hybrid System Indicator will not operate in the following s ituations:
● The “READY” indicator is not illuminated.
● The shift lever is in P, R or N position. READY OFF area
Shows that the hybrid system is not
operating.
Charge area
Shows regenerative charging.
Hybrid Eco area
Shows that gasoline engine power is
not being used very often.
The gasoline engine will automatically
stop and restart under various condi-
tions.
Eco area
Shows that the vehicle is being driven in
an Eco-friendly manner.
Power area
Shows that an Eco-friendly driving
range is being exceeded (during full
power driving etc.)

TRIP” switch.

power switch has been turned off, if the headlight switch is in the
“AUTO” position, a suggestion m essage will be displayed asking if
you wish to turn the headlights off. To turn the headlights off , select

If a front door is opened after the power switch is turned off, this sugges-
tion message will not be displayed.

Operation of each component
To take out the mechanical key,
slide the release lever and take
the key out.
The mechanical key can only be
inserted in one direction, as the
key only has grooves on one side.
If the key cannot be inserted in a
lock cylinder, turn it over and re-
attempt to insert it.
After using the mechanical key, store it in the electronic key. Carry the
mechanical key together with the electronic key. If the electro nic key bat-
tery is depleted or the entry function does not operate properl y, you will
need the mechanical key. ( P. 527)
■Panic mode
■ If you lose your keys
New genuine keys can be made by your Toyota dealer using the other
mechanical key and the key number stamped on your key number pl ate.
Keep the plate in a safe place such as your wallet, not in the vehicle.
Using the mechanical key
When is pressed for longer than
about one second, an alarm will sound
intermittently and the vehicle lights will
flash to deter any person from trying to
break into or damage your vehicle.
To stop the alarm, press any button on the
electronic key.
