Turn the bulb base counter-
clockwise.
Remove the light bulb.
Install a new light bulb and
then install the bulb base to
the light unit by inserting it
and turning it clockwise.

Insert a small flathead screw-
driver between the front
bumper and fender liner at
the position marked with a
“ ” and then separate the
front bumper from the fender
liner.
To separate the front bumper
from the fender liner, pry up the
fender liner while pulling the
front bumper outward as shown
in the illustration.
Pull back the fender liner and
turn the bulb base counter-
clockwise.
Remove the light bulb.
Install a new light bulb and
then install the bulb base to
the light unit by inserting it
and turning it clockwise.

remove the clips.
Partly remove the trunk lid
cover.
Disconnect the connector
while depressing the lock
release. (When replacing
right side bulb only.)
Turn the bulb base counter-
clockwise.

Remove the light unit.Attach a long piece of
packing tape to the light
unit and fold the excess in
half.
Hold the folded portion
and pull it toward the rear
of the vehicle to remove
the light unit.

Install the light unit.
Align the tabs and push the light
unit toward the front of the vehi-
cle to install it.
Install the 2 bolts.

WARNING
■Replacing light bulbs
● Turn off the lights. Do not attempt to replace the bulb immedia tely after
turning off the lights.
The bulbs become very hot and may cause burns.
● Do not touch the glass portion of the light bulb with bare hand s. When it is
unavoidable to hold the glass portion, use and hold with a clea n dry cloth
to avoid getting moisture and oils on the bulb.
Also, if the bulb is scratched or dropped, it may blow out or crack.
● Fully install light bulbs and any parts used to secure them. Failure to do so
may result in heat damage, fire, or water entering the headligh t unit. This
may damage the headlights or cause condensation to build up on the lens.
■ To prevent damage or fire
Make sure bulbs are fully seated and locked.

This message may be displayed when driving under severe operati ng condi-
tions. (For example, when driving up a long steep hill.)

■ If “Maintenance Required for Traction Battery Cooling Parts See Owner’s
Manual” is shown
The filter may be clogged, the air intake vent may be blocked or there may be
a gap in the duct.
● If the air intake vent or filter is dirty, refer to P. 465 for cleaning the air intake
vent and filter.
● If the message is being displayed and the air intake vent and f ilter are not
dirty, have the vehicle inspected at your Toyota dealer.
■ If “Traction Battery Needs to Be Protected. Refrain from the Us e of N
Position.” is shown
This message may be displayed when the shift lever is in N.
As the hybrid battery (traction battery) cannot be charged when the shift lever
is in N, shift the shift lever to P when the vehicle is stopped .
■ If “Traction Battery Needs to Be Protected. Shift into P to Res tart.” is
shown
This message is displayed when the hybrid battery (traction battery) charge
has become extremely low because the shift lever has been left in N for a cer-
tain amount of time.
When operating the vehicle, shift to P and restart the hybrid s ystem.
■ If “Shift to P Before Exiting Vehicle” is shown
Message is displayed when the driver’s door is opened without t urning the
power switch off with the shift lever in any position other tha n P.
Shift the shift lever to P.
■ If “Shift Is in N Release Accelerat or Before Shifting” is shown
Message is displayed when the accelerator pedal has been depressed and
the shift lever is in N. Release the accelerator pedal and shif t the shift lever to
D or R.
■ If “Press Brake When Vehicle Is Stopped Hybrid System May Overh eat”
is shown
Message is displayed when the accelerator pedal is depressed to maintain
the vehicle position when stopped on a upward slope, etc.
If this continues, the hybrid system may overheat.
Release the accelerator pedal and depress the brake pedal.
