6. Af ter attaching the child restraint, test itbefore you place the child in it. Push it
from side to side while holding the child
restraint near the LATCH attachment
path. The child restraint should not
move more than 1 inch (25 mm), from
side to side. Try to tug it forward and
check to see if the LATCH attachment
holds the restraint in place. If the re-
straint is not secure, tighten the LATCH
attachment as necessary, or put the re-
straint in another seat and test it again.
You may need to try a different child
restraint. Not all child restraints fit in all
types of vehicles. 7. Check to make sure the child restraint is
properly secured prior to each use. If the
child restraint is loose, repeat steps 1

1. Remove the head restraint/headrestand store it in a secure place. Be sure to
reinstall the head restraint/headrest
when the child restraint is removed. For
additional information about head
restraint/headrest adjustment, removal
and installation, see “Head restraints/
headrests” (P. 1-13).
2. Position the top tether strap

3. Secure the tether strap to the tether an- chor point

the manufacturer’s instructions to re-
move any slack.

Follow these steps to install a forward-
facing child restraint using the vehicle seat
belt in the rear seats or in the front passen-
ger seat:
1.If you must install a child restraint in
the front seat, it should be placed in a
forward-facing direction only. Move
the seat to the rearmost position.
Child restraints for infants must be
used in the rear-facing direction and,
therefore, must not be used in the
front seat.
2. Position the child restraint on the seat. Always follow the child restraint manu-
facturer’s instructions.
The back of the child restraint should be
secured against the vehicle seatback.
If necessary, adjust or remove the head
restraint/headrest to obtain the correct
child restraint fit. If the head restraint/
headrest is removed, store it in a secure
place. Be sure to reinstall the head
restraint/headrest when the child re-
straint is removed. For additional infor-
mation about head restraint/headrest
adjustment, removal and installation,
see “Head restraints/headrests” (P. 1-13). If the seating position does not have an
adjustable head restraint/headrest and
it is interfering with the proper child re-
straint fit, try another seating position or
a different child restraint.
3. Route the seat belt tongue through thechild restraint and insert it into the
buckle until you hear and feel the latch
engage. Be sure to follow the child re-
straint manufacturer’s instructions for
belt routing.
If the child restraint is equipped with a
top tether strap, route the top tether
strap and secure the tether strap to the
tether anchor point (2nd row installation
only). For additional information, see “In-
stalling top tether strap” (P. 1-48).

CONTROL
Press the “+” button to increase the bright-
ness of instrument panel lights.
Press the “-” button to decrease the bright-
ness of instrument panel lights.
TURN SIGNAL SWITCH
Turn signal
1Move the lever up or down to signal the
turning direction. When the turn is com-
pleted, the turn signal cancels
automatically.
Lane change signal
2Move the lever up or down until the turn
signal begins to flash, but the lever
does not latch, to signal a lane change.
Hold the lever until the lane change is
completed. Move the lever up or down until the turn
signal begins to flash, but the lever does
not latch, and release the lever. The turn
signal will automatically flash three times.
Choose the appropriate method to signal
a lane change based on road and traffic
conditions.

GLOVE BOX
Open the glove box by pulling the handle.
Use the mechanical key when locking or
unlocking the glove box.
WARNING
Keep the glove box lid closed while
driving to help prevent injury in an ac-
cident or a sudden stop.
CONSOLE BOX
To open the console box, pull the lever up
O1and raise the lidO2.
To close, push the lid down until the lock
latches.
2ND ROW CONSOLE (if so
equipped)
The 2nd row console is removable. In order
to remove, locate the front panel opening
at the front of the center console.

1. Pull the hood lock release handleO1lo-
cated below the driver side instrument
panel. The hood will spring up slightly.

4. Remove the support rod and insert into the slot

When closing the hood, lower it slowly and
make sure it locks into place.
WARNING
• Make sure the hood is completely
closed and latched before driving.
Failure to do so could cause the hood
to fly open and result in an accident.
• If you see steam or smoke coming
from the engine compartment, to
avoid injury do not open the hood.
WARNING
• Always be sure the lif tgate has been
closed securely to prevent it from
opening while driving.
• Do not drive with the lif tgate open.
This could allow dangerous exhaust
gases to be drawn into the vehicle.

• To help avoid risk of injury or death
through unintended operation of the
vehicle and/or its systems, including
entrapment in windows or inadver-
tent door lock activation, do not
leave children, people who require
the assistance of others or pets unat-
tended in your vehicle. Additionally,
the temperature inside a closed ve-
hicle on a warm day can quickly be-
come high enough to cause a signifi-
cant risk of injury or death to people
and pets.
• Always be sure that hands and feet
are clear of the door frame to avoid
injury while closing the lif tgate.

cm) Type B” (P. 2-48).
A warning chime will sound if the shif t po-
sition is moved out of P (Park) position dur-
ing a power open operation. Power Close:
The power lif tgate automatically moves
from the fully open position to the second-
ary position. When the lif tgate reaches the
secondary position, the cinching motor en-
gages and pulls the lif tgate to its primary
latch position. Power close takes approxi-
matel
y7–10sec onds. The power close
feature can be activated by the button on
the Intelligent Key (if so equipped), the in-
strument panel, the lif tgate close switch
OC
and the lif tgate lock switchOD. A chime
sounds to indicate the power close se-
quence has been started. • If the lif tgate opener switch
OAis acti-
vated while the cinching motor is en-
gaged, the cinching motor will disengage
and release the latch.
• The Intelligent Key button (if so equipped) must be held for 1 second before the lif t-
gate closes.
• The lif tgate close switch
OCcan only be
used to close the lif tgate if the power
lif tgate main switch is in the ON position.
• If the lif tgate lock switch
ODis activated
the lif tgate will begin to close and all
doors will lock.
Stop - Reverse:
During an open/close movement, the lif t-
gate can be stopped, if the Intelligent Key
button (if so equipped), instrument panel or
lif tgate opener switch

Intelligent Key button (if so equipped), in-

Auto Reverse:
If an obstacle is detected during power
open or power close, a warning chime will
sound and the lif tgate will reverse direction
and return to the full open or full close
position.

WARNING
• Operating the engine with the air
cleaner filter off can cause you or
others to be burned. The air cleaner
filter not only cleans the intake air, it
also stops the flame if the engine
backfires. If the air cleaner is not in-
stalled and the engine backfires, you
could be burned. Never drive with the
air cleaner filter off. Be cautious
working on the engine when the air
cleaner is off. •
Never pour fuel into the throttle body
or attempt to start the engine with
the air cleaner removed. Doing so
could result in serious injury.
To remove the filter from the air cleaner,
push the tabs
OAand pull the cover
upward.
The dry paper type filter element may be
cleaned and reused. Replace the air filter
according to the maintenance log shown
in the "Maintenance and schedules" sec-
tion of this manual.
When replacing the air filter, wipe the inside
of the air cleaner housing and the cover
with a damp cloth.
NOTE:
Af ter installing a new air cleaner, make
sure the air cleaner cover is seated in
the housing and latch the clips
OA.
IN-CABIN MICROFILTER
The in-cabin microfilter restricts the entry
of airborne dust and pollen particles and
reduces some objectionable outside
odors. The filter is located behind the glove
box. For additional information, see "Main-
tenance and schedules" section of this
manual for change intervals.
If replacement is required, it is recom-
mended that you visit a NISSAN dealer for
this service.
