• If the door handle becomes wet, suchas rain, the door may delay or prevent
lock operation. In this case, try to touch
firmly the sensor for at least 1 second.
WARNING
Af ter locking the doors using the lock
sensor, make sure that the doors have
been securely locked by operating the
door handles. Failure to follow these in-
structions may result in inadvertently
unlocking the doors, which may de-
crease the safety and security of your
vehicle.
CAUTION
• When locking the doors using the
lock sensor, make sure to have the
Intelligent Key in your possession
before operating the lock sensor to
prevent the Intelligent Key from be-
ing lef t in the vehicle.
• The lock sensor is operational only
when the Intelligent Key has been
detected by the Intelligent Key
system.
Lockout protection
To prevent the Intelligent Key from being
accidentally locked in the vehicle, lockout
protection is equipped with the Intelligent
Key system.
When any door is open, the doors are
locked, and then the Intelligent Key is put
inside the vehicle and all the doors are
closed; a chime will sound and the lock will
automatically unlock.
NOTE:
The doors may not lock when the Intelli-
gent Key is in the same hand that is op-
erating the lock sensor to lock the door.
Put the Intelligent Key in a purse, pocket
or your other hand.
CAUTION
The lockout protection may not func-
tion under the following conditions:
• When the Intelligent Key is placed on
top of the instrument panel.
• When the Intelligent Key is placed in-
side the glove box or a storage bin.
• When the Intelligent Key is placed in-
side the door pockets.
• When the Intelligent Key is placed in-
side or near metallic materials.

OPERATING RANGE
The Intelligent Key functions can only be
used when the Intelligent Key is within the
specified operating range.
When the Intelligent Key battery is almost
discharged or strong radio waves, noises
are present near the operating location,
the Intelligent Key system’s operating
range becomes narrower and may not
function properly.
If the Intelligent Key is within the operating
range, it is possible for anyone, even some-one who does not carry the Intelligent Key,
to push the ignition switch to start the
engine.
The operating range of the engine start
function is inside of the vehicle
O1.
• The luggage area is not included in the operating range, but the Intelligent Key
may function.
• If the Intelligent Key is placed on the in- strument panel or inside the glove box,
storage bin or door pocket, the Intelligent
Key may not function.
• If the Intelligent Key is placed near the door or window outside the vehicle, the
Intelligent Key may function.
PUSH-BUTTON IGNITION SWITCH
POSITIONS
LOCK (Normal parking position)
The ignition switch can only be locked in
this position.
The ignition switch will be unlocked when it
is pushed to the ON position while carrying
the Intelligent Key.
The ignition switch will lock when any door
is opened or closed with the ignition
switched off. ON (Normal operating position)
This position turns on the ignition system
and electrical accessories.
ON has a battery saver feature that will
place the ignition switch in the OFF posi-
tion, if the vehicle is not running, af ter some
time.
The battery saver feature will be canceled if
the engine is started.
CAUTION
Do not leave the vehicle with the igni-
tion switch in the ON position when the
engine is not running for an extended
period. This can discharge the battery.
OFF
The ignition switch is in the OFF position
when the engine is turned off using the
ignition switch. No lights will illuminate on
the ignition switch.
AUTO ACC:
With the vehicle in the P (Park) position, the
Intelligent Key with you and the ignition
placed from ON to OFF, the radio can still be
used for a period of time, or until the driver’s
door is opened.

WARNING
• Operating the engine with the air
cleaner filter off can cause you or
others to be burned. The air cleaner
filter not only cleans the intake air, it
also stops the flame if the engine
backfires. If the air cleaner is not in-
stalled and the engine backfires, you
could be burned. Never drive with the
air cleaner filter off. Be cautious
working on the engine when the air
cleaner is off. •
Never pour fuel into the throttle body
or attempt to start the engine with
the air cleaner removed. Doing so
could result in serious injury.
To remove the filter from the air cleaner,
push the tabs
OAand pull the cover
upward.
The dry paper type filter element may be
cleaned and reused. Replace the air filter
according to the maintenance log shown
in the "Maintenance and schedules" sec-
tion of this manual.
When replacing the air filter, wipe the inside
of the air cleaner housing and the cover
with a damp cloth.
NOTE:
Af ter installing a new air cleaner, make
sure the air cleaner cover is seated in
the housing and latch the clips
OA.
IN-CABIN MICROFILTER
The in-cabin microfilter restricts the entry
of airborne dust and pollen particles and
reduces some objectionable outside
odors. The filter is located behind the glove
box. For additional information, see "Main-
tenance and schedules" section of this
manual for change intervals.
If replacement is required, it is recom-
mended that you visit a NISSAN dealer for
this service.
