If objects in the vehicle interior are stowed
incorrectly, they can slide or be thrown around
and hit vehicle occupants. In addition, cup
holders, open storage spaces and mobile
phone brackets cannot always retain all
objects they contain.
There is a risk of injury, particularly in the
event of sudden braking or a sudden change
in direction.
Always stow objects in such a way that
they cannot be thrown around in such
situations.Always make sure that objects do not
protrude from storage spaces, parcel
nets or storage nets.Close the lockable storage spaces before
starting a journey.Always stow and secure heavy, hard,
pointed, sharp-edged, fragile or bulky
objects in the trunk.&WARNING Risk of accident from objects in
the driver\bs footwell and front-passenger
footwell
Objects in the driver\bs footwell and front-
passenger footwell may impede pedal travel or
block a depressed pedal.
This jeopardizes the operating and road safety
of the vehicle.
Stow all objects in the vehicle securely so that they cannot get into the driver\bs
footwell or front-passenger footwell.Always install the Ooor mats securely
and as prescribed in order to ensure that
there is always suPcient clearance for
the pedals.Do not use loose Ooor mats and do not
lay multiple Ooor mats on top of one
another.
Vehicles with automatic front-passenger air bag
shutoM: Objects trapped under the front-
passenger seat may interfere with the function of
the automatic front-passenger air bag shutoM or
damage the system. Please observe the notes on the function of the automatic front-passenger airbag shutoM ( page 46).

If you use a cup holder while the vehicle is
moving, the container may be Oung around
and liquids may be spilled. The vehicle occu-
pants may come into contact with the liquid
and if it is hot, they could be scalded. You
could be distracted from traPc conditions and
you may lose control of the vehicle.Only use the cup holder when the vehicle
is stationary.Only use the cup holder for containers of
the right size.Close the container, particularly if the
liquid is hot.*NOTE Damage to the cup holder
The cup holder can be damaged when folding
back the rear armrest. When open, the cup
holder can be damaged by body weight.
The rear armrest can only be folded back
when the cup holder is closed.Do not sit or support yourself on the cup
holder when it is open.*NOTE Damage to the rear armrest due to
body weight
When folded out, the rear armrest can be
damaged by body weight.
Do not sit or support yourself on the rear
seat armrest.*NOTE Damage to the handle in the trunk
Ooor
If the handle in the trunk is les protruding, the
handle may be damaged.
Before closing the trunk lid, detach the
handle and press it down closed again.*NOTE Damage to the stowage compart-
ment under the ashtray due to intense
heat
The stowage compartment under the ashtray is not heat resistant and could be damaged if
you rest a lit cigarette on it.
Make sure that the ashtray is fully
engaged.&WARNING Risk of Nre and injury from hot
cigarette lighter
You can suMer burns if you touch the hot heat-
ing element or the hot socket of the cigarette
lighter.
In addition, Oammable materials can catch Nre
if:
= you drop the hot cigarette lighter.
= children e.g. hold the hot cigarette lighter
to objects.
Always hold the cigarette lighter by the knob.Always make sure that the cigarette
lighter is out of the reach of children.Never leave children unattended in the vehicle.&WARNING Risk of burns from the tailpipe
and tailpipe trims
The exhaust tailpipe and tailpipe trims can
become very hot. If you come into contact

yourself.Always be particularly careful around the tailpipe and the tailpipe trims and super-
vise children especially closely in this
area.Allow vehicle parts to cool down before
touching them.\bLeather is a natural product. It exhibits natural
surface properties, e. g. diMerences in struc-
ture, marks caused by growth and injury or
subtle color diMerences. These surface prop-
erties are characteristics of leather and not material malfunctions. Leather is also subjectto a natural aging process during which the
surface properties change.
The driving characteristics of your vehicle are
dependent on the distribution of the load within the vehicle. You should bear the following in mindwhen loading the vehicle:
= Do not exceed the permissible total mass or
the gross axle weight rating of the vehicle
(including load and occupants). The values are
speciNed on the vehicle identiNcation plate on
the vehicle\bs B-pillar.
= The load must not protrude above the upper
edge of the seat backrests.
= Always place the load behind unoccupied
seats if possible.
= Secure the load using the cargo tie-down rings
and distribute the load evenly.
Notes on driving with a roof load = Distribute the roof load and the load inside the
vehicle evenly, placing heavy objects at the
bottom. Also comply with the notes on loading the vehicle ( page 105).
= Drive attentively, and avoid abrupt starts, brak-
ing and steering as well as rapid cornering.
= When transporting roof loads and when the
vehicle is fully loaded or fully occupied, select
drive programs and A . These are
