Pedestrian Detection Limitations
Pedestrian detection is active at speeds upto 50 mph (80 km/h).
Pedestrian detection functions optimallywhen detected hazards are clearlyidentifiable. System performance may reducein situations where pedestrians are running,partly obscured, have a complexbackground, or cannot be distinguished froma group.

If a message regarding a blocked sensor orcamera appears in the information display,something is obstructing the radar signals orcamera images. The radar sensor is behindthe fascia cover in the center of the lowergrille. With a blocked sensor or camera, thesystem may not function, or performancemay reduce. See Pre-Collision Assist –Information Messages (page 292).
Note:Proper system operation requires aclear view of the road by the camera. Haveany windshield damage in the area of thecamera's field of view repaired.
Note:If something hits the front end of yourvehicle or damage occurs and your vehiclehas a radar sensor, the radar sensing zonecould change. This could cause missed orfalse vehicle detections. Have your vehicleserviced to have the radar checked forproper coverage and operation.
Note:If your vehicle detects excessive heatat the camera or a potential misalignmentcondition, a message could display in theinformation display indicating temporarysensor unavailability. When operationalconditions are correct, the messagedeactivates. For example, when the ambienttemperature around the sensor decreasesor the sensor recalibrates successfully.

WHAT IS DRIVER ALERT

The system alerts you if it determines thatyou are becoming drowsy or if your drivingdeteriorates.
HOW DOES DRIVER ALERT WORK
Driver Alert calculates your alertness levelbased on your driving behavior in relation tothe lane markings and other factors throughuse of the front camera sensor behind theinterior mirror.

WARNING: You are responsible forcontrolling your vehicle at all times. Thesystem is designed to be an aid and doesnot relieve you of your responsibility todrive with due care and attention. If you disconnect or replace the battery andyour vehicle has an automatic transmission,it must relearn its adaptive strategy. Becauseof this, the transmission may shift firmly whenfirst driven. This is normal operation whilethe transmission fully updates its operationto optimum shift feel.
Remove and Reinstall the Battery
To disconnect or remove the battery, do thefollowing:
1.Apply the parking brake and switch theignition off.
2.Switch all electrical equipment off, forexample lights and radio.
3.Wait a minimum of two minutes beforedisconnecting the battery.
Note:The engine management system hasa power hold function and remains poweredfor a period of time after you switch theignition off. This is to allow diagnostic andadaptive tables to be stored. Disconnectingthe battery without waiting can causedamage not covered by the vehicleWarranty.
4.Disconnect the negative battery cableterminal.
5.Disconnect the positive battery cableterminal.
6.Remove the battery securing clamp.
7.Remove the battery.
8.To install, reverse the removal procedure.
Note:Before reconnecting the battery, makesure the ignition remains switched off.
Note:Make sure the battery cable terminalsare fully tightened.
Note:After cleaning or replacing the battery,make sure you reinstall the battery cover orshield.
If you disconnect or replace the vehiclebattery, you must reset the followingfeatures:
•Window bounce-back. See Windows(page 131).
•Clock Settings.
•Pre-set radio stations.
•Steering Angle Sensor.
Note:To calibrate the steering angle sensor,drive the vehicle above 30 mph (50 km/h)for a minimum of 1.2 mi (2 km). Make sure todrive straight ahead for a minimum of 30seconds. Several vehicle functions aredisabled and a warning light could appearuntil the sensor is calibrated.
Note:The battery sensor must be reset whena new battery is installed. Install only abattery approved by Ford for use in thevehicle. Use the following procedure toperform the battery sensor reset:
1.1. Turn ignition to on and leave engineoff. Steps 2 and 3 must be completedwithin 10 seconds.
2.2. Flash the high beams 5 times, endingwith the high beams off.
3.3. Press and release the brake pedal 3times.
The battery warning light on the cluster willflash 3 times to confirm that the reset wassuccessful.

•Use a spray with a 40° wide spray anglepattern.
•Keep the nozzle at a 12 in (305 mm)distance and 90° angle to your vehicle'ssurface.
•Do not use water pressure higher than2,000 psi (14,000 kPa).
•Do not use water hotter than 179°F (82°C).
Note:Holding the pressure washer nozzleat an angle to the vehicle's surface maydamage graphics and cause the edges topeel away from the vehicle's surface.
CLEANING CAMERA LENSES ANDSENSORS
We recommend that you only use lukewarmor cold water and a soft cloth to clean thecamera lens and sensors.
Note:Do not pressure wash camera lensand sensors.
CLEANING THE UNDERBODY
Flush the complete underside of your vehiclefrequently. Keep body and door drain holesfree from packed dirt.
Rear suspension components may requireregular cleaning with a power washer or athorough rinse with a strong stream of waterif the vehicle is operated in dusty or muddyenvironments. Rear leaf springs or othersuspension components may emit squeakingor popping noises while operating thevehicle if particles, such as dirt, rocks, orother debris, are present in the components.
WAXING
Wax the high-gloss painted surface of yourprewashed vehicle once or twice a year.
We recommend that you only use anapproved quality wax that does not containabrasives. For additional information andassistance, we recommend that you contactan authorized dealer.
When washing and waxing, park your vehiclein a shaded area out of direct sunlight.
Note:Avoid waxing unpainted or low-glossblack colored parts, they discolor over time.
CLEANING THE INTERIOR
CLEANING THE INSTRUMENT PANEL
WARNING: Do not use chemicalsolvents or strong detergents whencleaning the steering wheel or instrumentpanel to avoid contamination of the airbagsystem.
We recommend that you only clean theinstrument panel and cluster lens with adamp soft cloth. Dry the area with a clean,soft cloth.
For additional information and assistance,we recommend that you contact anauthorized dealer.
Note:Avoid cleaners or polishes thatincrease the gloss of the upper portion ofthe instrument panel. The dull finish in thisarea helps protect you from undesirablewindshield reflection.

It is recommended that the two fronttires or two rear tires generally bereplaced as a pair if the worn tires stillhave usable depth.
To avoid potential All-Wheel Drive (AWD)malfunction or (AWD) system damage,it is recommended to replace all fourtires rather than mixing significantly worntires with new tires.
The tire pressure sensors mounted inthe wheels (originally installed on yourvehicle) are not designed to be used inaftermarket wheels.
The use of wheels or tires notrecommended may affect the operationof your tire pressure monitoring system.
If the tire pressure monitoring system
indicator is flashing, your system ismalfunctioning. Your replacement tiremight be incompatible with your tirepressure monitoring system, or somecomponent of the system may bedamaged.
Age
WARNING: Tires degrade overtime depending on many factors suchas weather, storage conditions, andconditions of use (load, speed, inflationpressure) the tires experiencethroughout their lives.In general, tires should be replacedafter six years regardless of treadwear. However, heat caused by hotclimates or frequent high loadingconditions can accelerate the agingprocess and may require tires to bereplaced more frequently.You should replace your spare tirewhen you replace the road tires orafter six years due to aging even if it
has not been used.
U.S. DOT Tire Identification Number
Both United States and Canada Federalregulations require tire manufacturersto place standardized information on thesidewall of all tires. This informationidentifies and describes the fundamentalcharacteristics of the tire and alsoprovides a U.S. DOT Tire IdentificationNumber for safety standard certificationand in case of a recall.
This begins with the letters DOT andindicates that the tire meets all federalstandards. The next two numbers orletters are the plant code designatingwhere it was manufactured, the next twoare the tire size code and the last fournumbers represent the week and yearthe tire was built. For example, the
numbers 317 mean the 31st week of1997. After 2000, the numbers go to fourdigits. For example, 2501 means the25th week of 2001. The numbers inbetween are identification codes usedfor traceability. This information is usedto contact customers if a tire defectrequires a recall.
