The automatic brake hold function maintains
the braking force without the driver having to
depress the brake pedal when the vehicle is
stopped at a traffic light or intersection. As
soon as the driver depresses the accelerator
pedal again, the automatic brake hold func-
tion is deactivated and the braking force is
released. The operating status of the auto-
matic brake hold can be displayed.
To use the automatic brake hold function, the
following conditions need to be met:
• The driver’s seat belt is fastened.
• The electronic parking brake is released.
• The vehicle is not in the P (Park) position.
• The vehicle is not parked on a steep hill.
For additional information, see “Warning
lights, indicator lights and audible reminders”
(P. 2-12).
WARNING
• The automatic brake hold function is not
designed to hold the vehicle on a steep
hill or slippery road. Never use the auto-
matic brake hold function when the ve-
hicle is stopped on a steep hill or slippery
road. Failure to do so may cause the ve-
hicle to move. •
Warnings may appear to request that
the driver retake control by depressing
the brake pedal.
•
When the automatic brake hold function is
activated but fails to maintain the vehicle
at a standstill, depress the brake pedal to
stop the vehicle. If the vehicle unexpect-
edly moves due to outside conditions, the
chime may sound and automatic brake
hold warning may illuminate.
• Be sure to deactivate the automatic
brake hold function when using a car
wash or towing your vehicle.
• Make sure to place the shift position in
the P (Park) position and apply the park-
ing brake when parking your vehicle, en-
tering or exiting the vehicle, or loading
luggage. Failure to do so could cause the
vehicle to move or roll away unexpect-
edly and result in serious personal injury
or property damage.
• If any of the following conditions occur,
the automatic brake hold function may
not function. Have the system checked
promptly. It is recommended that you
visit an INFINITI retailer for this service.
– A warning message appears. –
The indicator light on the automatic
brake hold switch does not illuminate
when the switch is pushed.
Failure to operate the vehicle in accordance
with these conditions could cause the ve-
hicle to move or roll away unexpectedly and
result in serious personal injury or property
damage.
• The automatic brake hold function will
not be activated if the Slip indicator
light, electronic parking brake warning
light or master warning light illuminate
and the chassis control system fault
message appears in the vehicle informa-
tion display.
• Automatic brake hold function is oper-
ated by applying sufficient braking force
to hold the vehicle in its place, so there
are cases when this hold function is
maintained even if the accelerator pedal
is depressed. In this situation, it is ad-
vised to depress the brake pedal first,
then to turn off automatic brake hold
switch. This will cancel the hold function.
• To maintain the braking force to keep
the vehicle to a standstill, a noise may be
heard. This is not a malfunction.

UNAVAILABLE
If the vehicle is parked in direct sunlight under
high temperature conditions (over approxi-
mately 104°F [40°C]) and then started, the
LDW system may be deactivated automati-
cally and the following message will appear in
the vehicle information display: “Unavailable:
High Cabin Temperature."
When the interior temperature is reduced, the
LDW system will resume operating auto-
matically.
The LDW system is not designed to warn
under the following conditions:
• When you operate the lane change signal and change traveling lanes in the direction
of the signal. (The LDW system will become
operable again approximately 2 seconds
after the lane change signal is turned off.)
• When the vehicle speed lowers to less than approximately 37 mph (60 km/h).
After the above conditions have finished and
the necessary operating conditions are satis-
fied, the LDW functions will resume.

SYSTEM TEMPORARILY
UNAVAILABLE
Condition A:
The warning and assist functions of the LDP
system are not designed to work under the
following conditions:
• When you operate the lane change signal and change the traveling lanes in the direc-
tion of the signal. (The LDP system will be
deactivated for approximately 2 seconds
after the lane change signal is turned off.)
• When the vehicle speed lowers to less than approximately 37 mph (60 km/h). After the above conditions have finished and
the necessary operating conditions are satis-
fied, the warning and assist functions will
resume.
Condition B:
The assist function of the LDP system is not
designed to work under the following condi-
tions (warning is still functional):
• When the brake pedal is depressed.
• When the steering wheel is turned as far as
necessary for the vehicle to change lanes.
• When the vehicle is accelerated during LDP system operation.
• When the Intelligent Cruise Control (ICC) approach warning occurs.
• When the hazard warning flashers are operated.
• When driving on a curve at high speed.
After the above conditions have finished and
the necessary operating conditions are satis-
fied, the LDP system application of the
brakes will resume.
Condition C:
If the following messages appear in the ve-
hicle information display, the LDP system will
be turned off automatically. • “Not Available Poor Road Conditions”
When the VDC system (except Traction
Control System [TCS] function) or ABS
operates.
• “Currently not available”: – When the VDC system is turned off.
– When the SNOW mode is selected.
Action to take:
When the above conditions no longer exist,
turn off the LDP system. Push the ProPILOT
Assist switch (for vehicles with ProPILOT
Assist) on the steering wheel again to turn the
LDP system back on.
Temporary disabled status at high
temperature:

– When a sudden change in brightness
occurs. (For example: when the ve-
hicle enters or exits a tunnel or under
a bridge.)
• Do not use the BSI system under the fol-
lowing conditions because the system
may not function properly.
– During bad weather (for example:
rain, fog, snow, etc.).
– When driving on slippery roads, such
as on ice or snow, etc.
– When driving on winding or uneven
roads.
– When there is a lane closure due to
road repairs.
– When driving in a makeshift or tem-
porary lane.
– When driving on roads where the lane
width is too narrow. –
When driving with a tire that is not
within normal tire conditions (e.g.,
tire wear, low tire pressure, installa-
tion of spare tire, tire chains, non-
standard wheels).
– When the vehicle is equipped with
non-original brake parts or suspen-
sion parts.
– When towing a trailer or other
vehicle.
• Excessive noise (e.g., audio system vol-
ume, open vehicle window) will interfere
with the chime sound, and it may not be
heard.
Starting and driving5-65

Vehicle detected ahead
When a vehicle is detected in the lane ahead,
the ICC system decelerates the vehicle by
controlling the throttle and applying the
brakes to match the speed of a slower vehicle
ahead. The ICC system then controls the ve-
hicle speed based on the speed of the vehicle
ahead to maintain the driver selected
distance.
NOTE:
•The stop lights of the vehicle come on when
braking is performed by the ICC system.
• When the brake is applied by the system,a noise may be heard. This is not a
malfunction.
When the ICC system detects a vehicle
ahead, the vehicle ahead detection indicator
and the speed control status indicator (dis-
tance control mode) illuminates (solid green
).
Vehicle ahead stops
When the vehicle ahead decelerates to stop,
your vehicle decelerates to a standstill. Once
your vehicle stops, the ICC system automati-
cally applies the brakes to keep the vehicle
stopped. When your vehicle is at a standstill,
the “(RES+) Press to start” message is dis-
played on the vehicle information display.
NOTE:
When your vehicle stops for less than 3 sec-
onds, your vehicle will automatically follow
the vehicle as it accelerates from a stop.
Vehicle ahead accelerates
• When your vehicle is stopped for less than approximately 3 seconds and the vehicle
ahead begins to move, your vehicle will
start moving again automatically. • When your vehicle is at a standstill for more
than approximately 3 seconds and the ve-
hicle ahead begins to accelerate, push up
the RES+ switch or lightly depress the ac-
celerator pedal. The ICC system starts to
follow the vehicle ahead.
• Always check surroundings before restart- ing the vehicle.
• For vehicles equipped with ProPILOT As- sist with Navi-link and only when on a lim-
ited access freeway (as identified in the
navigation map data):– The time the vehicle can remain stopped and automatically restart is extended
from 3 seconds to 30 seconds.
– If a vehicle ahead cuts in or out of the lane ahead, the vehicle may not auto-
matically start when the traffic ahead
begins to move. You need to push up the
RES+ switch or lightly depress the accel-
erator pedal to follow the vehicle directly
ahead when it is safe to do so.Vehicle ahead not detected
When a vehicle is no longer detected ahead,
the ICC system gradually accelerates your
vehicle to resume the previously set vehicle
speed. The ICC system then maintains the set
speed.

5-100Starting and driving

If the driver does not operate the steering
wheel after the warning has been displayed,
an audible alert sounds and the warning
flashes in the vehicle information display, fol-
lowed by a quick brake application to request
the driver to take control of the vehicle again.
If the driver still does not respond, the ProPI-
LOT Assist turns on the hazard flasher and
slows the vehicle to a complete stop.
The driver can cancel the deceleration at any
time by steering, braking, accelerating, or op-
erating the ProPILOT Assist switch.
WARNING
Steering Assist is not a system for hands-
free driving. Always keep your hands on
the steering wheel and drive your vehicle
safely. Failure to do so could cause a colli-
sion resulting in serious personal injury or
death.
NOTE:
If the driver lightly touches (instead of firmly
grips) the steering wheel, the steering
torque sensor may not detect the driver’s
hand(s) on the wheel and a sequence of
warnings may occur. When the driver holds
and operates the steering wheel again, the
warnings turn off.
Steering Assist limitations
WARNING
• In the following situations, the camera
may not detect lane markers correctly or
may detect lane markers incorrectly and
the Steering Assist may not operate
properly:
– When driving on roads where there
are multiple parallel lane markers,
lane markers that are faded or not
painted clearly, nonstandard lane
markers, or lane markers covered
with water, dirt, snow, etc.
– When driving on roads with discon-
tinued lane markers
– When driving on roads with a widen-
ing or narrowing lane width
– When driving on roads where there
are multiple lanes or unclear lane
markers due to road construction
– When driving on roads where there
are sharply contrasting objects, such
as shadows, snow, water, wheel ruts,
seams, or lines remaining after road
repairs (the Steering Assist could de-
tect these items as lane markers)
– When driving on roads where the
traveling lane merges or separates •
Do not use the Steering Assist under the
following conditions because the system
may not properly detect lane markers.
Doing so could cause a loss of vehicle
control and result in an accident.
– During bad weather (rain, fog, snow,
dust, etc.)
– When rain, snow, sand, etc., is thrown
up by the wheels of other vehicles
– When dirt, oil, ice, snow, water, or an-
other object adheres to the camera
unit
– When the lens of the camera unit is
foggy
– When strong light (for example, sun-
light or high beams from oncoming
vehicles) shines on the camera
– When the headlights are not bright
due to dirt on the lens or the head-
lights are off in tunnels or darkness
– When a sudden change in brightness
occurs (for example, when the vehicle
enters or exits a tunnel or is under a
bridge)
–
When driving on roads where the trav- eling lane merges or separates or
where there are temporary lane mark-
ers because of road construction
