Used Vehicle/Digital Key
Maintenance
Purchasing used vehicle
If any of the digital key devices (smart
phone key, card key) are registered in
the vehicle, the message ‘Digital key(s)
active’ will appear on the instrument
cluster once when the vehicle is turned
on after unlocking the vehicle door.
When purchasing a used car, be sure to
check the message and delete the smart
phone key and card key registered by
the previous user. Please let us know
the purchase of a used vehicle through
Genesis Customer Care. Check whether
the card key that came with the used
vehicle operates properly. If the card key
does not work properly, delete the card
key and register the smart phone key,
and then re-register the card key.
Digital Key Maintenance
If you need to have your Digital Key
System repaired or replaced, the
registered smart key/card key can be
deleted. In this case, you should delete
the digital key on the smart phone and
re-register the key.
Limitations of the System

[Genesis Digital Key App on the smart
phone and card key may not work if
any of the following occurs:
- The Digital Key App in the smart
phone is deleted (reinstall the app)
- Account log information of Genesis
Digital Key App is expired (required
to re-log in)
- When you try to log in from
another smart phone instead of the
registered smart phone with same
user account
- Smart phone rooting or app
hacking is detected
- Smart phone battery or the vehicle
battery is discharged
- Smart phone’s screen is off or
locked
- NFC or Bluetooth is turned off in the
smart phone settings
- Smart phone’s mobile network
setting is off or airplane mode is
activated
- A credit card is overlapped in the
back of your smart phone, or metal
or thick smart phone case is used
- Using the card key with other cards,
or using it in a wallet or card holder
- There is electronic interference by
other vehicles, objects, etc.

[The vehicle may not be controlled
by the smart phone if any of the
following occurs:
- Basic and necessary functions of
the smart phone are operating
(general call, urgent call, audio or
NFC payment)
- Using wireless earphone

[When the vehicle entry with face
recognition is disabled, touching
the sensor on the outer door handle
will not operate the face recognition
camera. It is activated automatically
when the face is registered.

[If you have left your smart key or
digital key in your vehicle and locked
the vehicle door with Face Connect,
keep the smart key out of sight to
prevent theft.
WARNING
Do not register a child’s face on the
vehicle as unexpected accidents may
occur.
When Purchasing a Used Vehicle
If you purchase a used vehicle, you
should confirm and delete all registered
face in Driver 1 and Driver 2 profile.
If a face is registered, the message
“Biometric authentication active”
appears on the instrument cluster once
when the vehicle is turned on while the
doors are unlocked.
Legal Compliance
This system uses facial recognition and
authentication which may be considered
"biometrics" under law. Use of this
system consents to the collection,
use, and storage of your data for the
disclosed activities. (By setting your
Facial Recognition Profile, you consent to
using facial recognition for locking and
unlocking the vehicle.) We will only use
or share your data as needed for system
use, maintenance, and storage. Stored
data cannot be converted into your
facial image. You may delete your facial
recognition data at any time.

Vehicle Auto-Shut Off Function
If you forget to turn off the vehicle that
EV Drivable for a period of time, Vehicle
Shuts Off automatically to prevent waste
electric power.
Operating Conditions
Vehicle Auto-Shut Off timer activates
when the following conditions are met

[Not Auto-Shut Off timer reset
condition
- Vehicle is not EV ready state(Only
Ignition On) or the utility mode on
- Gear Shift Other than P
- Stepped on the brake pedal of the
accelerator pedal
- Fastened driver’s seat belt and
passenger’s seat belt
- Passenger`s seat is occupied
- The vehicle moves(vehicle speed is
above 2 mph (3 km/h))
- When Auto-Shut Off timer is left
10minutes, the user setting mode
pops up in the instrument cluster.
And you can check the time left. If
you push the ‘OK’ button, Auto-Shut
off timer is reset.

off function during inside V2L, use the

System Operation
If the system is satisfied operating
conditions after 90 minutes, vehicle shut
off automatically.

Convenience Features
Electric Power Steering (EPS)
The system assists you with steering the
vehicle. If the vehicle is turned off or
if the power steering system becomes
inoperative, you may still steer the
vehicle, but it will require increased
steering effort.
Should you notice any change in the
effort required to steer during normal
vehicle operation, have the system
checked by an authorized retailer of
Genesis Branded products.
CAUTION
If Motor Driven Power Steering does not
operate normally, the warning light
and the message ‘Check motor driven
power steering’ will illuminate on the
instrument cluster. You may steer the
vehicle, but it will require increased
steering efforts. Take the vehicle to an
authorized retailer of Genesis Branded
products and have the system checked
as soon as possible.
Information
The following symptoms may occur during
normal vehicle operation:

vehicle is at a stop or at a low driving
speed.

may occur. If the temperature rises, the
noise will disappear. This is a normal
condition.

the steering effort assist function will
not be activated in order to prevent
fatal accidents. Instrument cluster
warning lights may be on or the
steering effort may be high. If these
symptoms occur, drive the vehicle to
a safe area as soon as it is safe to do
so. Have the system checked by an
authorized retailer of Genesis Branded
products as soon as possible.

Tilt/Telescopic Steering
When adjusting the steering wheel to a
comfortable position, adjust the steering
wheel so that it points toward your chest,
not toward your face. Make sure you can
see the instrument cluster warning lights
and gauges. After adjusting, push the
steering wheel both up and down to be
certain it is locked in position.
Always adjust the position of the steering
wheel before driving.
WARNING
NEVER adjust the steering wheel while
driving. This may cause loss of vehicle
control resulting in an accident.
NOTICE
While adjusting the steering wheel
height, please do not push or pull it
hard since the fixture can be damaged.
Manual adjustment

To adjust the steering wheel angle and
height:
1. Pull down the lock-release lever (1).
2. Adjust the steering wheel to the
desired angle (2) and distance
forward/back (3).
3. Pull up the lock-release lever to lock
the steering wheel in place.
Information
Sometimes the lock release lever may not
engage completely. This may occur when
the gears of the locking mechanism do not
completely mesh. If this occurs, pull down
on the lock-release lever, readjust the
steering wheel again, and then pull back
up on the release lever to lock the steering
wheel in place.

Hood
Opening the hood

1. Park the vehicle and set the parking
brake.
2. Pull the release lever to unlatch the
hood. The hood should pop open
slightly.

3. Go to the front of the vehicle, raise the
hood slightly, push up the secondary
latch (1) inside of the hood center and
lift the hood (2).
After the hood has been lifted halfway,
it will raise completely by itself.
Closing the hood
1. Before closing the hood, check in and
around the vehicle compartment to
ensure the following:
- Any tools or other loose objects
are removed from the motor
compartment area or hood
opening area
- All glove, rags, or other
combustible material is removed
from the motor compartment
- All filler caps are tightly and
correctly installed
2. Lower the hood halfway (lifted
approximately 30 cm (12 in.) from the
closed position) and push down to
securely lock in place. Then double
check to be sure the hood is secure.
If the hood can be raised slightly, it is
not securely locked. Open it again and
close it with more force.
WARNING

[Before closing the hood, ensure
all obstructions are removed from
around the hood opening.

[Always double check to be sure that
the hood is firmly latched before
driving away. Check there is no
hood open warning light or message
displayed on the instrument cluster.
Driving with the hood opened may
cause a total loss of visibility, which
might result in an accident.

[Do not move the vehicle with the
hood in the raised position, as vision
is obstructed, which might result in
an accident, and the hood could fall
or be damaged.

Convenience Features

[Do not operate the power liftgate
under the following conditions.
The power liftgate may not operate
properly.
-One side of the vehicle is lifted to
inspect the vehicle or change a tire
-Parking on an uneven road such as
a slope, etc.

[Close the liftgate completely and
lock all doors and liftgate using the
central door lock button before using
an automatic car wash.

[Do not spray high pressure water
directly on the power liftgate outside
open/close button. The liftgate may
open unintentionally. Information

[If the liftgate is not fully closed and
vehicle speed is at or above 1.8 mph (3

Immediately park the vehicle at a safe
place, close the liftgate, and check
that the liftgate open warning on the
instrument cluster is turned off.

[In cold and wet climates, the outside

not work properly due to freezing
conditions. If this occurs, remove the
ice before using the outside power

smart key or the instrument panel.

[Operating the power liftgate more
than 5 times continuously could cause
damage to the operating motor. If
this occurs, the power liftgate will not
operate to prevent the motor from
overheating. If any of the power liftgate
buttons are pressed to try to open the
liftgate, the chime will sound 3 times,
but the liftgate will remain closed.
Allow the power liftgate system to cool
for about 1 minute before operating the
system again.

Convenience Features
CAUTION

[Do not try forcibly open the charging
door. If you try to force the charging
door to open, the charging door may
stop working.

[The charge door rises up when
opened. When opening or closing
the charge door, check the safety
around the outside before opening
or closing. Always be careful not to
bump your face, head, etc. or get
your hands caught.

[Do not hold the supporting part
(hinge). Be careful as there may be
a risk of vehicle damage or safety
accidents due to deformation of
parts.

[After closing, double check that it is
completely closed.

[Make sure that the charge door is
closed well before driving. If the
charge door is not closed correctly,
Mechanical parts attached to the
charge door may be damaged.

[Make sure the charge door is closed
and the charging door open warning
light on the instrument cluster is
turned off.

[If you leave the vehicle with the
charge door open, there is a risk of
theft, so be sure to check it.

[After charging, the inlet cover must
be in place. Closing the charge door
without opening it in place may
damage the machine parts.

[Do not excessively spray liquid on
the charging door when washing the
car.
Closing the charging door

1. After recharging, install the charging
inlet cover.
2. Push the Close button located inner
part of the charging door.
