WHAT IS SPEED SIGN
RECOGNITION
Speed sign recognition detects speed limitsigns to inform you of the current speedlimit. Detected speed signs appear in theinstrument cluster display.
HOW DOES SPEED SIGN
RECOGNITION WORK
Speed sign recognition uses a sensorbehind the interior mirror to detect speedsigns.
If your vehicle has speed sign recognitionwith navigation, stored speed sign datamay influence the indicated speed limitvalue.

WARNING: The system may notoperate properly if the sensor is blocked.Keep the windshield free fromobstruction.
Note:Do not carry out windshield repairsin the immediate area surrounding thesensor.
Note:If your vehicle has a suspension kitnot approved by Ford, the system may notcorrectly function.
Note:The system may not detect all speedsigns and may incorrectly read signs.
Note:Always fit our original parts whenreplacing headlamp bulbs. Other bulbs mayreduce system performance.

LIMITATIONS
Speed sign recognition may not operatecorrectly due to:
•Outdated map data.
•Incorrect recognition of speed limits bythe sensor of signs on parallel roads orexit ramps.
•Missed recognition of faded, dirty, ordistorted signs.

JUMP STARTING THE VEHICLE
Connecting the Jumper Cables
WARNING: Do not connect thenegative jumper cable to any other partof your vehicle. Use the ground point.
Note:If you are using a jump pack orbooster box, follow the manufacturer'sinstructions.
1.Pull the red rubber boot backward.Connect the positive (+) jumper cableto the positive (+) terminal of thedischarged battery.
2.Connect the other end of the positive(+) jumper cable to the positive (+)terminal of the booster vehicle battery.
3.Connect the negative (-) jumper cableto the negative (-) terminal of thebooster vehicle battery.
4.Make the final connection of thenegative (-) jumper cable to the jumpstart stud as shown in the followingillustration.
Note:Do not use the hood latch as anegative (-) connection point. This couldcause springs in the latch to burn andprevent the hood from operating correctly.
Starting the Engine
1.Start the engine of the booster vehicleand moderately rev the engine, orgently press the accelerator to keepthe engine speed between 2000 RPMand 3000 RPM, as shown in yourtachometer.
2.Start the engine of the disabled vehicle.
3.Once you start the disabled vehicle, runboth vehicle engines for an additionalthree minutes before disconnecting thejumper cables.
Removing the Jumper Cables
Remove the jumper cables in the reverseorder that they were connected.
Note:Do not switch the headlamps onwhen disconnecting the cables. The peakvoltage could blow the bulbs.

High Series Lamps: Use a 6 mm hex key orPhillips PH1 screwdriver to adjust.
6.Repeat Steps 3 through 5 to adjust theother headlamp.
Note:The vertical adjuster is in the samelocation for all headlamps.
7.Close the hood and turn off the lamps.
Horizontal Aim Adjustment
Horizontal aim is not required for thisvehicle and is not adjustable.

Headlamp bulbs must bemarked with an authorized D.O.T. markingfor North America to make sure they havethe proper lamp performance, lightbrightness, light pattern and safe visibility.The correct bulbs will not damage thelamp assembly or void the lamp assemblywarranty and will provide quality bulbillumination time.

REMOVING A REAR LAMPASSEMBLY - CHASSIS CAB
1.Switch all of the lamps and the ignitionoff.
2.Remove the screws and the lamp lensfrom lamp assembly.
3.To install, reverse the removalprocedure.
REMOVING A REAR LAMPASSEMBLY - PICKUP
1.Make sure the headlamps are off.
2.Open the tailgate to access the rearlamp assemblies.
3.Remove the bolts from the tail lampassembly.
4.Carefully pull the lamp assembly fromthe tailgate pillar by releasing the tworetaining tabs.
5.To install, reverse the removalprocedure.
CHANGING A HEADLAMP BULB
WARNING: Make sure the bulbshave cooled down before removingthem. Failure to follow this warning couldresult in serious personal injury.
Note:To access the right-hand side bulbs,remove the air intake pipe. See Changingthe Engine Air Filter (page 445).
For vehicles with diesel engines, to accessthe left-hand side bulbs, remove the washerreservoir filler tube.
