Zone coverage also decreases whenparking at narrow angles. The sensor onthe left-hand side is mostly obstructed andzone coverage on that side is severelyreduced.
Cross Traffic Alert SystemLimitations
The system may not correctly operatewhen any of the following occur:
•Something blocks the sensors.
•Adjacently parked vehicles or objectsobstruct the sensors.
•Vehicles approach at speeds less than4 mph (6 km/h) or greater than 37 mph(60 km/h).
•The vehicle speed is greater than 7 mph(12 km/h).
•You reverse out of an angled parkingspace.
Switching the System On and Off
To switch the system on or off, adjust thesettings using the touchscreen. SeeSettings (page 431).
Note:The system turns on every time youswitch the ignition on. To permanentlyswitch the system off, contact an authorizeddealer.
Cross Traffic Alert System Sensors
The sensors are behind the rear bumperon both sides of your vehicle.
If something blocks the sensors, a messagemay appear in the information displaywhen you shift into reverse (R).
Note:Keep the sensors free from snow, iceand large accumulations of dirt.
Note:Do not cover the sensors with bumperstickers, repair compound or other objects.
Note:Blocked sensors could affect systemperformance.
Note:Bike and cargo racks could causefalse alerts due to obstruction of the sensor. We recommend switching the feature offwhen using a bike or cargo rack.
Cross Traffic Alert Indicator
When the system detects anapproaching vehicle, a tonesounds, a warning lampilluminates in the relevant exterior mirror, and arrows appear in the informationdisplay to show which side theapproaching vehicle is coming from.
Note:If arrows do not display, a messageappears in the information display.
If the system malfunctions, a warning lampilluminates in the instrument cluster anda message appears in the informationdisplay. Have your vehicle checked as soonas possible.

STEERING
Electric Power Steering
WARNING: The electric powersteering system has diagnostic checksthat continuously monitor the system. Ifa fault is detected, a message displaysin the information display. Stop yourvehicle as soon as it is safe to do so.Switch the ignition off. After at least 10seconds, switch the ignition on andwatch the information display for asteering system warning message. If asteering system warning messagereturns, have the system checked assoon as possible.
WARNING: If the system detectsan error, you may not feel a difference inthe steering, however a serious conditionmay exist. Have your vehicle checked assoon as possible. Failure to do so mayresult in loss of steering control.
Your vehicle has an electric power steeringsystem, there is no fluid reservoir, nomaintenance is required.
If your vehicle loses electrical power whileyou are driving, electric power steeringassistance is lost. The steering system stilloperates and you can steer your vehiclemanually. Manually steering your vehiclerequires more effort.
Extreme continuous steering may increasethe effort required for you to steer yourvehicle, this increased effort preventsoverheating and permanent damage tothe steering system. You do not lose theability to steer your vehicle manually.Typical steering and driving maneuversallow the system to cool and return tonormal operation.
Steering Tips
If the steering wanders or pulls, check for:
•Correct tire pressures.
•Uneven tire wear.
•Loose or worn suspensioncomponents.
•Loose or worn steering components.
•Improper vehicle alignment.
Note:A high crown in the road or highcrosswinds may also make the steeringseem to wander or pull.

EQUIPPED)
Selectable Drive Modes
Selectable drive modes deliver acustomized driving experience using avariety of electronic vehicle systems. Thesystems optimize vehicle dynamics andpowertrain response based on yourselected mode. Systems associated withselectable drive modes are:
•Electronically power assisted steering.See Steering (page 202).
•Electronic stability control and tractioncontrol maintain your vehicle controlin adverse conditions or highperformance driving. See StabilityControl (page 175). See TractionControl (page 174).
•Electronic throttle control enhancesthe powertrain response to your drivinginput.
•Adaptive dampers, if your vehiclecomes with them.
•Active exhaust, if provided on yourvehicle, adjusts the soundcharacteristics of your vehicle.
Using Selectable Drive Modes
To change the drive mode setting, pressthe mode button on the instrument panelunder the display. The first pressilluminates the selected mode, subsequentpresses change the selected mode.
Note:Mode changes are not available whenthe ignition is off or when the transmissionis in reverse (R). Some modes may beunavailable when the transmission is in drive(D) or sport (S).
Note:Your vehicle may have some of thedrive modes that follow.
Modes:
•Normal – Best suited for everydaydriving. If your vehicle has adaptivedampers, the suspension delivers abalanced combination of comfort andhandling. Selectable steering defaultsto normal but you can change it usingthe steering button.
•Sport – Engages when you shift yourautomatic transmission into sport (S).Sport mode increases throttleresponse and helps your vehicleaccelerate faster, but does not changethe vehicle dynamics or stabilitysystem. The automatic transmissionholds lower gears and a higher RPMwhen lifting off the accelerator. Theautomatic transmission downshifts toa higher RPM when brakingaggressively.
•Sport+ – Best suited for spirited driving. This mode increases throttle response, and if your vehicle has active exhaust,it takes on a more powerful tone. If yourvehicle has adaptive dampers, thesuspension becomes stiffer, bodymotion reduces and the steeringbecomes more precise. Selectablesteering defaults to sport. Dependingon your vehicle configuration, you maybe able to change the selectablesteering setting by pressing the steering

•Normal - Default factory setting.
•Sport - Raises the noise of the exhaust.
•Track - Tunes the exhaust for trackperformance.
Note:The track exhaust mode setting isonly for use at tracks and not for use onpublic roadways. Use of this setting resultsin increased exterior noise, which may notmeet state and local laws and regulations. It is the obligation of the driver to operatethe vehicle in a manner that complies withstate and local requirements. Only use thetrack exhaust mode setting at a competitiontrack or an off-road course where elevatedexterior vehicle noise is acceptable.
Rev Match (If Equipped)
This feature provides a smoother drivingexperience, particularly during a downshiftevent. You can accomplish this by a shiftposition prediction that commands a quickengine RPM match to the selected gear. You can switch this feature on and offthrough the information display. SeeGeneral Information (page 98).
Note:The system remembers your lastselection through ignition cycles.
Note:Rev match is only available with amanual transmission.

No Lift Shift (If Equipped)
This feature provides you with the abilityto keep the accelerator pedal firmlypressed down during high engine speed, wide open throttle accelerations. Duringwide open throttle gear shifts, the enginecontroller prevents the engine speed fromflaring with the clutch disengaged duringa rapid upshift. This allows reducedmanual transmission upshift time, resultingin quicker acceleration and smoother nolift shifts.
