Illuminated Exit
The interior lamps and select exteriorlamps illuminate when all doors are closedand you switch the ignition off.
The lamps turn off if all the doors remainclosed and:
•After 25 seconds elapse.
•You press the START/STOP button.
Battery Saver
If you leave on the courtesy lamps, domelamps or headlamps, the battery saverturns them off 10 minutes after you switchoff the ignition.
Accessory Mode Battery Saver forIntelligent Access Keys
If you leave your vehicle in the run ignitionstate, it turns off once it detects a certainamount of battery drain or after 45minutes.

COMPARTMENT RELEASE
WARNING: Keep vehicle doors andluggage compartment locked and keepkeys and remote transmitters out of achild’s reach. Unsupervised childrencould lock themselves in the trunk andrisk injury. Children should be taught notto play in vehicles.
WARNING: Do not leave childrenor animals unattended in the vehicle. Onhot days, the temperature in the trunk orvehicle interior can rise very quickly.Exposure of people or animals to thesehigh temperatures for even a short timecan cause death or serious heat-relatedinjuries, including brain damage. Smallchildren are particularly at risk.
Your vehicle is equipped with a releasehandle that provides a means of escapefor children and adults if they becomelocked inside the luggage compartment.
Adults should familiarize themselves withthe operation and location of the releasehandle.
The handle is located inside the luggagecompartment either on the luggagecompartment door (lid) or near the taillamps. It is composed of a material thatwill glow for hours in darkness followingbrief exposure to ambient light.
Pull the handle and push up on the luggagecompartment door (lid) to open fromwithin the luggage compartment.

PASSIVE ANTI-THEFT
SYSTEM
Note:The system is not compatible withnon-Ford aftermarket remote start systems.Use of these systems may result in vehiclestarting problems and a loss of securityprotection.
Note:Metallic objects, electronic devicesor a second coded key on the same keychain may cause vehicle starting problemsif they are too close to the key when startingyour vehicle. Prevent these objects fromtouching the coded key while starting yourvehicle. Switch the ignition off, move allobjects on the key chain away from thecoded key and restart your vehicle if aproblem occurs.
Note:Do not leave a duplicate coded keyin your vehicle. Always take your keys andlock all doors when leaving your vehicle.
SecuriLock
The system helps prevent your vehiclefrom starting unless you use a coded keyprogrammed to your vehicle. Using thewrong key may prevent your vehicle fromstarting. A message may appear in theinformation display.
If you are unable to start your vehicle witha correctly coded key, it is not operatingproperly. A message may appear in theinformation display.
Automatic Arming
Your vehicle arms immediately afterswitching the ignition off.
Automatic Disarming
Switching the ignition on with a coded keydisarms your vehicle.
Replacement Keys
Note:Your vehicle comes equipped withtwo intelligent access keys.
The intelligent access key functions as aprogrammed key that operates the driverdoor lock and activates the intelligentaccess with push button start system, aswell as a remote control.
If your programmed transmitters are lostor stolen and you do not have an extracoded key, you need to have your vehicletowed to an authorized dealer. You needto erase the key codes from your vehicleand program new coded keys.
Store an extra programmed key away fromyour vehicle in a safe place to help preventany inconveniences. See your authorizeddealer to purchase additional spare orreplacement keys.
Programming a Spare IntelligentAccess Key
Note:You can program a maximum of fourintelligent access keys to your vehicle.
You must have two previouslyprogrammed intelligent access keys insideyour vehicle and the new unprogrammedintelligent access keys readily accessible.See an authorized dealer to have the sparekey programmed if two previouslyprogrammed keys are not available.
Make sure that your vehicle is off beforebeginning this procedure. Make sure thatyou close all the doors before beginningand that they remain closed throughoutthe procedure. Perform all steps within 30seconds of starting the sequence. Stopand wait for at least one minute beforestarting again if you perform any steps outof sequence.
Read and understand the entire procedurebefore you begin.

1.Remove the rubber covering (A) fromthe cupholder. Place the firstprogrammed key in the backup slot (B)at the bottom of the cupholder, thenpress the push button ignition switch.
2.Wait five seconds and then press thepush button ignition switch again.
3.Remove the intelligent access key.
4.Within 10 seconds, place a secondprogrammed intelligent access key inthe backup slot. Press the push buttonignition switch.
5.Wait five seconds and then press thepush button ignition switch again.
6.Remove the intelligent access key.
7.Place the unprogrammed intelligentaccess key in the backup slot and pressthe push button ignition switch.
Programming is now complete. Verify theremote control functions operate and yourvehicle starts with the new intelligentaccess key.
If programming was not successful, wait10 seconds and repeat Steps 1 through 7.If you are still unsuccessful, take yourvehicle to your authorized dealer.
ANTI-THEFT ALARM (IF EQUIPPED)
The system will warn you of anunauthorized entry to your vehicle.
It will be triggered if any door, the luggagecompartment or the hood is openedwithout using the key or remote control.
The direction indicators will flash and thehorn will sound if unauthorized entry isattempted while the alarm is armed.
Take all remote controls to an authorizeddealer if there is a potential alarm problemwith your vehicle.
Arming the Alarm
The alarm is ready to arm when there isnot a key in your vehicle.
Electronically lock your vehicle to arm thealarm.
Disarming the Alarm
Disarm the alarm by any of the followingactions:
•Unlock the doors or luggagecompartment with the remote control.
•Switch your vehicle on or start yourvehicle.
•Use a key in the driver door to unlockyour vehicle, then switch your vehicleon within 12 seconds.
Note:Pressing the panic button on theremote control will stop the horn and signalindicators, but will not disarm the system.

Opening the Windows
You can open the windows for a short timeafter you unlock your vehicle with theremote control. After you unlock yourvehicle, press and hold the remote controlunlock button to open the windows.Release the button once movement starts.Press the lock or unlock button to stopmovement.

Fold-Away Exterior Mirrors
Push the mirror toward the door windowglass. Make sure that you fully engage themirror in its support when returning it to itsoriginal position.
Heated Exterior Mirrors (If Equipped)

Memory Mirrors (If Equipped)
You can save and recall the mirrorpositions through the memory function.See Power Seats (page 136).
Signal Indicator Mirrors (If Equipped)
The outer portion of the appropriate mirrorhousing will blink when you switch on theturn signal.
Projection Lights (If Equipped)
The lights are on the bottom of the mirrorhousings. See Welcome Lighting (page83).
Integrated Blind Spot Mirrors (If
Equipped)
WARNING: Objects in the mirrorare closer than they appear.
Blind spot mirrors have an integratedconvex mirror built into the upper outboardcorner of the exterior mirrors. They canincrease your visibility along the side ofyour vehicle.
Check the main mirror first before a lanechange, then check the blind spot mirror.If the blind spot mirror does not show anyvehicles in its viewing area and the trafficin the adjacent lane is at a safe distance,signal that you intend to change lanes.Glance over your shoulder to verify trafficis clear and carefully change lanes.

WHAT IS REMOTE START
The system allows you to remotely startyour vehicle and therefore to heat or coolthe interior to a predeterminedtemperature.
REMOTE START LIMITATIONS
Remote start does not work under thefollowing conditions:
•The alarm horn is sounding.
•The hood is open.
•The transmission is not in park (P).
•The ignition is on.
•The battery voltage is below theminimum operating voltage.
Note:Do not use remote start if your fuellevel is low.
ENABLING REMOTE START
1.Press Settings on the touchscreen.
2.Press Vehicle.
3.Press Remote Start Setup.
4.Switch Remote Start on or off.
Note:To remote start with FordPass, makesure that the modem is enabled. SeeConnecting FordPass to the Modem(page 368).
REMOTELY STARTING THE
ENGINE
WARNING: Do not start the enginein a closed garage or in other enclosedareas. Exhaust fumes are toxic. Alwaysopen the garage door before you startthe engine. Failure to follow thisinstruction could result in personal injuryor death.
To start the engine, do the following:
Press the button on the remotecontrol.
Within three seconds, press thebutton on the remote control.
Within three seconds, press thebutton again.
Note:You can also use the FordPass appto start the engine.
Note:The turn signals flash twice.
Note:The parking lamps turn on when theengine is running.
Note:The horn sounds if the system failsto start.
Note:All other vehicle systems remain offwhen you have remotely started the engine.
Note:The vehicle remains secured whenyou have remotely started the engine. Avalid key must be inside your vehicle toswitch the ignition on and drive your vehicle.
