WIPER PRECAUTIONS
Do not operate the wipers on a drywindshield. This could scratch the glass ordamage the wiper blades. Use thewindshield washers before wiping a drywindshield.
Fully defrost the windshield before youswitch the windshield wipers on.
Switch the windshield wipers off beforeentering a car wash.

Note:For vehicles with a service position,make sure the windshield wipers are in thisposition before proceeding.
Note:You can use the service position toprovide easier access to the wiper bladesfor freeing them from snow and ice.
Note:Switch the windshield wipers offbefore switching the ignition off.
Make sure your vehicle is off beforebeginning this procedure.
1.Move the wiper blades to the serviceposition.
Note:To place the wiper arms in a serviceposition, switch your vehicle on in accessorymode, switch on the wipers and switch yourvehicle off when the wipers are at theirhighest position.
Note:Do not manually move the wiperarms to the service position unless the wiperpath is obstructed by snow or ice.

2.Lift the wiper arms away from thewindshield.
Note:Do not hold the wiper blade to lift thewiper arm.
3.Press the wiper blade locking buttonstogether.
Note:Make sure that the wiper arm doesnot spring back against the glass when thewiper blade is not attached.
4.Slightly rotate the wiper blade.
5.Replace the wiper blade.
Note:Make sure that the wiper blade locksinto place.
6.Lower the wiper arms to thewindshield.
7.Switch the ignition on.
Note:Do not switch the ignition on or turnon the accessory mode when the wiperblades are off the windshield.
8.Cycle the wipers once.
WASHERS
WASHER PRECAUTIONS
WARNING: If you operate yourvehicle in temperatures below 41°F(5°C), use washer fluid with antifreezeprotection. Failure to use washer fluidwith antifreeze protection in coldweather could result in impairedwindshield vision and increase the riskof injury or accident.
Do not operate the washers when thewasher reservoir is empty. This could causethe washer pump to overheat.
Keep the outside of the windshield clean.The rain sensor is very sensitive and thewipers may operate if dirt, mist or insectshit the windshield.

OPENING AND CLOSING THE
WINDOWS
WARNING: Do not leave childrenunattended in your vehicle and do notlet them play with the power windows.Failure to follow this instruction couldresult in personal injury.
WARNING: When closing thepower windows, verify they are free ofobstruction and make sure that childrenand pets are not in the proximity of thewindow openings.
Press the window control switchto open the window. Lift thewindow control switch to closethe window.
To reduce wind noise or pulsing noise whenjust one window is open, slightly open theopposite window.
One-Touch Down (If Equipped)
Press the window control switch fully andrelease it. Press again or lift it to stop thewindow.
One-Touch Up (If Equipped)
Lift the window control switch fully andrelease it. Press or lift it again to stop thewindow.
Resetting One-Touch Up
Start the engine.
1.Lift and hold the window control switchuntil you fully close the door window.Continue to hold the window controlswitch for a few seconds after youclose the window.
2.Release the window control switch.
3.Press and hold the window controlswitch until you fully open the doorwindow.
4.Release the window control switch.
5.Lift and hold the window control switchuntil you fully close the window.
6.Test for correct window operation bycarrying out the one-touch down andone-touch up features.
Accessory Delay
When you switch the ignition off, thewindow switches remain operational forseveral minutes or until you open eitherfront door.
WINDOW BOUNCE-BACK
WHAT IS WINDOW BOUNCE-BACK
The window stops and reverses somedistance if it detects an obstacle whenclosing.
OVERRIDING WINDOW BOUNCE-BACK
WARNING: If you overridebounce-back, the window does notreverse if it detects an obstacle. Takecare when closing the windows to avoidpersonal injury or damage to yourvehicle.
WARNING: Bounce-back is off untilyou reset the memory. Take care whenclosing the windows to avoid personalinjury or damage to your vehicle.
Note:The window stops if you release theswitch before the window fully closes.

To adjust the mirrors, switch your vehicleon and place the ignition in accessory orstart.
1.Select the mirror you want to adjust.The control light turns on.
2.Use the adjustment control to adjustthe position of the mirror.
3.Press the mirror control again. Thecontrol light turns off.
Integrated Blind Spot Mirror
WARNING: Objects in the mirrorare closer than they appear.
Blind spot mirrors have an integratedconvex mirror built into the upper outboardcorner of the exterior mirrors. They canassist you by increasing visibility along theside of your vehicle.
Check the main mirror first before a lanechange, then check the blind spot mirror.If no vehicles are present in the blind spotmirror and the traffic in the adjacent laneis at a safe distance, signal that you aregoing to change lanes. Glance over yourshoulder to verify traffic is clear, andcarefully change lanes.

WARNING LAMPS
Anti-Lock Braking System
If it illuminates when you aredriving, this indicates yourvehicle requires service. Yourvehicle continues to have normal brakingwithout the anti-lock brake systemfunction. Have your vehicle checked assoon as possible.
Battery
It illuminates when you switchthe ignition on.
If it illuminates when the engineis running, this indicates your vehiclerequires service. Have your vehiclechecked as soon as possible.
Brake System
It illuminates when you apply theparking brake and the ignition ison. If it illuminates when yourvehicle is moving, make sure theparking brake is released. If theparking brake is released, thisindicates low brake fluid level or the brakesystem requires service. Have your vehiclechecked as soon as possible.
Note:Indicators may vary depending onregion.
Door Ajar
It illuminates when you switchthe ignition on and remains on ifany door is open.
Electric Park Brake
It illuminates or flashes when theelectric parking brake requiresservice. Have your vehiclechecked as soon as possible.
Engine or Motor CoolantTemperature
If it illuminates, safely stop yourvehicle and switch your vehicleoff. Have your vehicle checkedas soon as possible.
Fasten Seatbelt
It illuminates and a tone soundsuntil you fasten the seatbelts.
Fasten Rear Seatbelt
It illuminates and a tone soundsuntil you fasten the rearseatbelts.
High Voltage Electric SystemFailure
It illuminates if your vehicle hasan electrical component fault orfailure that causes your vehicleto shutdown or enter a limited operatingmode. A message may appear in theinstrument cluster display.
Hood Ajar
It illuminates when the ignitionis on and the hood is notcompletely closed.

Low Beam Warning
It illuminates when the lowbeam headlamp requires service.Have the system checked assoon as possible.
Low Fuel Level
It illuminates when the fuel levelis low.
Low Tire Pressure Warning
It illuminates when your tirepressure is low. If illuminated,check your tire pressure as soonas possible. If it begins to flash at anytime,have the system checked as soon aspossible.
Low Washer Fluid
It illuminates when the washerfluid is low.
Malfunction Indicator Lamp
It illuminates when the ignitionis on and the engine is off, this isnormal operation. If it illuminateswhen the engine is on this indicates thatthe emission control system requiresservice. If it flashes, have your vehiclechecked immediately. See Starting andStopping the Engine – Warning Lamps(page 162).
Oil Pressure
It illuminates when the engineoil pressure is low.
Powertrain Fault
Illuminates when the powertrainrequires service. Have thesystem checked as soon aspossible.

WHAT IS REMOTE START
The system allows you to remotely startyour vehicle and to adjust the interiortemperature according to the settings thatyou chose.
REMOTE START
PRECAUTIONS
WARNING: Do not start the enginein a closed garage or in other enclosedareas. Exhaust fumes are toxic. Alwaysopen the garage door before you startthe engine. Failure to follow thisinstruction could result in personal injuryor death.
REMOTE START LIMITATIONS
Remote start does not work under thefollowing conditions:
•The alarm horn is sounding.
•The hood is open.
•The transmission is not in park (P).
•The ignition is on.
•The battery voltage is below theminimum operating voltage.
•Remote start is not enabled.
Note:Do not use remote start if the fuellevel is low.
ENABLING REMOTE START
1.Using the information display controlson the steering wheel, select Settings.
2.Select Vehicle Settings.
3.Select Remote Start.
4.Switch System on.
Note:To use remote start, make sure thatthe modem is enabled. See Enabling andDisabling the Modem (page 377).

STOPPING THE VEHICLE
Remotely Starting the Vehicle
Press the button on the remotecontrol.
Within three seconds, press thebutton twice on the remotecontrol.
Note:You can also use the FordPass Appto start the vehicle.
Note:The turn signals flash twice.
Note:The parking lamps turn on when thevehicle is running.
Note:The horn sounds if the system failsto start.
Note:All other vehicle systems remain offwhen you have remotely started the vehicle.
Note:The vehicle remains secured whenyou have remotely started the vehicle. Avalid key must be inside your vehicle toswitch the ignition on and drive your vehicle.
Remotely Stopping the Vehicle
Within three seconds, press thebutton twice on the remotecontrol.

WHAT IS THE REAR
OCCUPANT ALERT SYSTEM
The rear occupant alert system monitorsvehicle conditions and notifies you to checkfor rear seat occupants when you switchthe ignition off.
HOW DOES THE REAR
OCCUPANT ALERT SYSTEM
WORK
The system monitors when rear doors havebeen opened and closed to indicate thepotential presence of an occupant in therear seat.
A message displays in the information andentertainment display screen and anaudible warning sounds when you switchthe ignition off after any of the followingconditions have been met:
•A rear door is opened or closed whilethe ignition is on.
•You switch the ignition on within 15minutes of a rear door opening andclosing.
•You switch the ignition on within 15minutes of the alert having displayedor sounded.
REAR OCCUPANT ALERT
SYSTEM PRECAUTIONS
WARNING: On hot days, thetemperature inside the vehicle can risevery quickly. Exposure of people oranimals to these high temperatures foreven a short time can cause death orserious heat related injuries, includingbrain damage. Small children areparticularly at risk.
WARNING: Do not leave childrenor pets unattended in your vehicle.Failure to follow this instruction couldresult in personal injury or death.
REAR OCCUPANT ALERT
SYSTEM LIMITATIONS
The system does not function if any dooris removed.
The system does not detect the presenceof objects or passengers in the rear seat.It monitors when rear doors are openedand closed.
Note:It is possible to receive an alert whenthere is no rear seat occupant, but alertconditions are met.
Note:It is possible to receive no alert whenthere is an occupant in the rear seat, if alertconditions are not met. For example, if a rearseat occupant does not enter the vehiclethrough a rear door.
Note:The audible warning does not soundwhen the front door is opened before youswitch the ignition off.
SWITCHING REAR OCCUPANT

3.Switch Rear Occupant Alert on or off.
Note:The default setting is on.
