2023 FORD F150 brake fluid

The brake indicator momentarilyilluminates when you switch theignition on to confirm the lampis functional. It may also illuminate whenyou apply the parking brake and theignition is on. If it illuminates when yourvehicle is moving, make sure the parkingbrake is disengaged. If the parking brakeis disengaged, this indicates low brake fluidlevel or a brake system fault. See anauthorized dealer.
BRAKES – FREQUENTLY ASKEDQUESTIONS
Is it normal for my brakes to makenoise?
Occasional brake noise is normal. If ametal-to-metal, continuous grinding,or continuous squeal sound is present,the brake lining could be worn-out.Have the system checked by anauthorized dealer.
There is an electrical motor soundwhen I press on the brake pedal oractivate the park brake switch. Is thisnormal?
Yes, those sounds are the electronicbrake booster or the electronic parkbrake operating.
Note: Brake dust could accumulate on thewheels, even under normal drivingconditions. Some dust is normal as thebrakes wear and does not contribute tobrake noise. See Cleaning Wheels (page530).

HOW DOES ELECTRIC POWERSTEERING WORK
Adaptive Learning
Adaptive learning helps correct roadirregularities and improves overall handlingand steering. It communicates with thebrake system to help operate advancedstability control and crash avoidancesystems.
Note:When the battery is disconnected ora new battery is installed, you must driveyour vehicle a short distance before thesystem relearns the strategy and reactivatesall systems.
Steering Tips
If the steering wanders or pulls, check for:
•An improperly inflated tire.
•Uneven tire wear.
•Loose or worn suspensioncomponents.
•Improper vehicle alignment.
Note:A high crown in the road or highcrosswinds could also make the steeringwander or pull.
ELECTRIC POWER STEERINGPRECAUTIONS
WARNING: The electric powersteering system has diagnostic checksthat continuously monitor the system. Ifa fault is detected, a message displaysin the information display. Stop yourvehicle as soon as it is safe to do so.Switch the vehicle off. After at least 10
seconds, switch the vehicle on andwatch the information display for asteering system warning message. If asteering system warning messagereturns, have the system checked assoon as possible.
WARNING: If the system detectsan error, you may not feel a difference inthe steering, however a serious conditionmay exist. Have your vehicle checked assoon as possible. Failure to do so mayresult in loss of steering control.
Adapt your speed and driving behavioraccording to reduced steering assist.
Extreme continuous steering may increasethe effort to steer. This occurs to preventinternal overheating and damage to thesteering system. If this occurs, you will notlose the ability to steer your vehiclemanually nor will it cause damage to thesystem. Normal steering and driving allowsthe system to cool down and steeringassist returns to normal.
Note:There is no fluid reservoir to check orfill.
ELECTRIC POWER STEERINGADAPTIVE STEERING - VEHICLESWITH: ACTIVE STEERING
Electric Power-Assisted Steering (EPAS)
The adaptive steering system changes thesteering ratio with changes to vehiclespeed, optimizing the steering response inall conditions. The system also changeswhen you switch on the transmissiontow/haul feature. When you select thetow/haul button, the adaptive steeringsystem reduces vehicle sensitivity tosteering inputs at higher vehicle speeds,while maintaining the ease of parking andmaneuverability at low speeds.

HIGH VOLTAGE BATTERY
VEHICLE PRECAUTIONS -
HYBRID ELECTRIC VEHICLE
(HEV)
In the event of damage or fire involving anelectric vehicle or hybrid-electric vehicle:
•Assume the high-voltage battery andassociated components are energizedand fully charged.
•Physical damage to the vehicle orhigh-voltage battery could result inimmediate or delayed release of toxic,flammable gases and fire.
Crashes
A crash or impact significant enough torequire an emergency response forconventional vehicles would also requirethe same response for an electric orhybrid-electric vehicle.
If Possible:
1.Move your vehicle to a safe, nearbylocation and remain on the scene.
2.Roll down the windows before youswitch your vehicle off.
3.Place your vehicle in park (P), applythe parking brake, switch off thevehicle, turn on the hazard flashers andmove the key at least 16 ft (5 m) awayfrom the vehicle.
Always:
•Call emergency assistance if neededand advise that an electric orhybrid-electric vehicle is involved.
•Avoid contact with leaking fluids andgases, and remain out of the way ofoncoming traffic until emergencyresponders arrive.
•When emergency responders arrive,tell them that the vehicle involved is anelectric vehicle or hybrid-electricvehicle.
Fires
As with any vehicle, call emergencyassistance immediately if you see sparks,smoke or flames coming from the vehicle.Remain a safe distance from the vehicleand try to stay clear of the smoke.
1.Exit the vehicle immediately.
2.Advise emergency assistance that anelectric or hybrid-electric vehicle isinvolved.
3.As with any vehicle fire, do not inhalesmoke, vapors or gas from the vehicle,as they may be hazardous.

•Set the parking brake, shift thetransmission to park (P) and block thewheels.
