The icons will disappear if a button is not operated for approximately 5 sec-onds or more.
QAdjusting the display (digital mirror mode)
OIf the displayed image is adjusted, it may appear distorted. This is not a
malfunction.
OIf the brightness of the Digital Rear-
view Mirror is set too high, it may cause eye strain. Adjust the Digital Rear-view Mirror to an appropriate
brightness. If your eyes become tired, change to optical mirror mode.
OThe brightness of the Digital Rear-view Mirror will change automatically according to the brightness of the
area in front of your vehicle.
QTo prevent the light sensors from
malfunctioning
To prevent the light sensors from mal- functioning, do not touch or cover them.

Observe the following precautions.Failure to do so may result in death or serious injury.
QWhile driving
ODo not adjust the position of the
Digital Rear-view Mirror or adjust the display settings while driving.Stop the vehicle and operate the
Digital Rear-view Mirror control switches. Failure to do so may cause a steer-
ing wheel operation error, resulting in an unexpected accident.
OAlways pay attention to the vehi-cle’s surroundings.
The size of the vehicles and other
objects may look different when in digital mirror mode and optical mirror mode.
When backing up, make sure to directly check the safety of the area around your vehicle, especially
behind the vehicle. Additionally, if a vehicle approaches from the rear in the dark, such as at
night, the surrounding area may appear dim.

QCleaning the mirror surface
If the mirror surface is dirty, the
image on the display may be diffi-
cult to see.
Clean the mirror surface gently
using a soft dry cloth.
QCleaning the camera
If the camera lens is dirty, the dis-
played image may not be clear. In
this case, clean it with a soft cloth
dampened with water or a swab.
QThe camera
The camera for the Digital Rear-view Mirror is located as shown.
QThe cooling fan
There is a cooling fan in the Digital
Rear-view Mirror. Cooling fan sounds may be heard when using the system.
WARNING
QTo prevent causes of fire
If the driver continues using the Digi-
tal Rear-view Mirror while smoke or odor comes from the mirror, it may result in fire. Stop using the system
immediately and contact any autho- rized Toyota retailer or Toyota autho-rized repairer, or any reliable repairer.
Cleaning the Digital Rear-
view Mirror
NOTICE
QTo prevent the Digital Rear-view Mirror from malfunctioning
ODo not use detergents, such as thinner, benzene, and alcohol to clean the mirror. They may discolor,
deteriorate or damage the mirror surface.
ODo not smoke, use matches, use
cigarette lighters or allow open flames near the mirror. It may dam-age the mirror or cause a fire.
ODo not remove, disassemble or modify the mirror.
QTo prevent the camera from mal-functioning
OObserve the following precautions,
otherwise the Digital Rear-view Mir- ror may not operate properly.
• Do not strike or hit the camera or
subject it to a strong impact, as the camera installation position and angle may be changed.
• Do not remove, disassemble or modify the camera.
• Do not allow an organic solvent, car wax, window cleaner or glass coat-
ing to adhere to the camera. If this happens, wipe it off as soon as pos-sible.
• When cleaning the camera lens, wipe the camera lens with a damp
soft cloth. Do not strongly rub the camera lens, as it may be scratched and
will not be able to transmit a clear image.
• When applying colored film (includ- ing transparent film) to the rear win-dow glass, do not apply it to the
area in front of the camera. If film is applied to the area in front of the camera, the image from the
camera may not display properly.

camera.
Change to optical mirror mode.
(Change back to digital mirror
mode when the conditions have
improved.)
Foreign matters such as water
droplets or dust is on the cam-
era lens.Wipe the camera lens with a
damp soft cloth.

Putting the outside rear view mirror
folding switch in the neutral position
sets the mirrors to automatic mode.
Automatic mode allows the folding or
extending of the mirrors to be linked to
locking/unlocking of the doors.
QUsing automatic mode in cold weather
When automatic mode is used in cold
weather, the door mirror could freeze up and automatic stowing and return may not be possible. In this event, remove
any ice and snow from the door mirror, then either operate the mirror using manual mode or move the mirror by
hand.

To avoid personal injury and mirror malfunction, be careful not to get your hand caught by the moving mirror.

QWhen driving the vehicle
ODo not drive if you are unfamiliar
with the location of the brake and accelerator pedals to avoid depressing the wrong pedal.
• Accidentally depressing the accel- erator pedal instead of the brake pedal will result in sudden accelera-
tion that may lead to an accident.
• When backing up, you may twist your body around, leading to a diffi-
culty in operating the pedals. Make sure to operate the pedals properly.
• Make sure to keep a correct driving
posture even when moving the vehicle only slightly. This allows you to depress the brake and accel-
erator pedals properly.
• Depress the brake pedal using your right foot. Depressing the brake
pedal using your left foot may delay response in an emergency, result-ing in an accident.
OThe driver should pay extra atten-tion to pedestrians when the vehicle
is powered only by the electric motor (traction motor). As there is no engine noise, the pedestrians
may misjudge the vehicle’s move- ment. Even though the vehicle is equipped with the Acoustic Vehicle
Alerting System, drive with care as pedestrians in the vicinity may still not notice the vehicle if the sur-
rounding area is noisy.
ODo not drive the vehicle over or
stop the vehicle near flammable materials such as leaves, paper or rags.
The exhaust system and exhaust gases can be extremely hot. These hot parts may cause a fire if there is
any flammable material nearby.
ODuring normal driving, do not turn off the hybrid system. Turning the hybrid system off while driving will
not cause loss of steering or brak- ing control, however, power assist to the steering will be lost. This will
make it more difficult to steer smoothly, so you should pull over and stop the vehicle as soon as it is
safe to do so. In the event of an emergency, such as if it becomes impossible to stop
the vehicle in the normal way:  P.500
OUse engine braking (downshift) to maintain a safe speed when driving down a steep hill.
Using the brakes continuously may cause the brakes to overheat and lose effectiveness. ( P.277)
ODo not adjust the position of the steering wheel, the seat, or the
inside or outside rear view mirrors while driving.Doing so may result in a loss of
vehicle control.
OAlways check that all passengers’
arms, head or other parts of their body are not outside the vehicle.
QWhen driving on slippery road surfaces
OSudden braking, acceleration and
steering may cause tire slippage and reduce your ability to control the vehicle.
OSudden acceleration, engine brak-ing due to shifting, or changes in
engine speed could cause the vehi- cle to skid.

OIncrease the tire inflation pressure to
20.0 kPa (0.2 kgf/cm2 or bar, 3 psi) greater than the recommended value when towing. ( P.564)
OIncrease the air pressure of the trailer
tires in accordance with the total
trailer weight and according to the val- ues recommended by the manufac-turer of your trailer.
QSafety checks before towing
OCheck that the maximum load limit for the towing hitch/bracket and hitch ball
is not exceeded. Bear in mind that the coupling weight of the trailer will add to the load exerted on the vehicle.
Also make sure that the total load exerted on the vehicle is within the range of the weight limits. ( P.265)
OEnsure that the trailer load is secure.
OSupplementary outside rear view mir- rors should be added to the vehicle if the traffic behind cannot be clearly
seen with standard mirrors. Adjust the extending arms of these mirrors on both sides of the vehicle so that they
always provide maximum visibility of the road behind.
Trailer towing
Your vehicle is designed pri-
marily as a passenger carry-
ing vehicle. Towing a trailer
will have an adverse effect on
handling, performance, brak-
ing, durability, and fuel con-
sumption. Your safety and
satisfaction depend on the
proper use of correct equip-
ment and cautious driving hab-
its. For your safety and the
safety of others, do not over-
load the vehicle or trailer.
To tow a trailer safely, use
extreme care and drive the
vehicle in accordance with the
trailer’s characteristics and
operating conditions.
Toyota warranties do not apply
to damage or malfunction
caused by towing a trailer for
commercial purposes.
Ask your local authorized
Toyota retailer or Toyota
authorized repairer, or any reli-
able repairer for further details
before towing, as there are
additional legal requirements
in some countries.

pact spare tire is installed on your vehicle.
