3126-3. Do-it-yourself maintenance
■Effects of incorrect tire inflation
pressure
Driving with incorrect tire inflation pres-
sure may result in the following:
●Reduced fuel economy
●Reduced driving comfort and poor handling
●Reduced tire life due to wear
●Reduced safety
●Damage to the drivetrain
If a tire needs frequent inflating, have it
checked by any authorized Toyota retailer or Toyota authorized repairer, or
any reliable repairer.
■Instructions for checking tire infla-
tion pressure
When checking tire inflation pressure, observe the following:
●Check only when the tires are cold.If your vehicle has been parked for at
least 3 hours or has not been driven
for more than 1.5 km or 1 mile, you will get an accurate cold tire inflation
pressure reading.
●Always use a tire pressure gauge.
It is difficult to judge if a tire is properly
inflated based only on its appearance.
●It is normal for the tire inflation pres-
sure to be higher after driving as heat is generated in the tire. Do not reduce
tire inflation pressure after driving.
●Passengers and luggage weight
should be placed so that the vehicle is
balanced.Tire inflation pressure
Make sure to maintain proper
tire inflation pressure. Tire
inflation pressure should be
checked at least once per
month. However, Toyota rec-
ommends that tire inflation
pressure be checked once
every two weeks.

■Proper inflation is critical to save
tire performance
Keep your tires properly inflated. If the tires are not properly inflated,
the following conditions may occur
which could lead to an accident
resulting in death or serious injury:
●Excessive wear
●Uneven wear
●Poor handling
●Possibility of blowouts resulting
from overheated tires
●Air leaking from between tire and
wheel
●Wheel deformation and/or tire dam-
age
●Greater possibility of tire damage
while driving (due to road hazards, expansion joints, sharp edges in the
road, etc.)
NOTICE
■When inspecting and adjusting tire inflation pressure
Be sure to put the tire valve caps back
on. If a valve cap is not installed, dirt or
moisture may get into the valve and
cause an air leak, resulting in decreased tire inflation pressure.

3487-2. Steps to take in an emergency
tle. The sealant should be replaced
before the expiry date. Contact any authorized Toyota retailer or Toyota
authorized repairer, or any reliable
repairer for replacement.
●The sealant stored in the emergency
tire puncture repair kit can be used only once to temporarily repair a sin-
gle tire. If the sealant has been used
and needs to be purchased, contact any authorized Toyota retailer or
Toyota authorized repairer, or any reli-
able repairer. The compressor is reus- able.
●The sealant can be used when the outside temperature is from -30°C
(-22°F) to 60°C (140°F).
●The kit is exclusively designed for size
and type of tires originally installed on
your vehicle. Do not use it for tires that a different size than the original ones,
or for any other purposes.
●If the sealant gets on your clothes, it
may stain.
●If the sealant adheres to a wheel or
the surface of the vehicle body, the
stain may not be removable if it is not cleaned at once. Immediately wipe
away the sealant with a wet cloth.
●During operation of the kit, a loud
operation noise is produced. This
does not indicate a malfunction.
●Do not use the emergency tire punc-
ture repair kit to check or to adjust the tire pressure.
●In extremely low temperatures -30°C to -20°C (-22°F to -4°F), the viscosity
of the sealant increases and the seal-
ant will flow more slowly. In such tem- peratures, bring the sealant into the
vehicle to warm it up before use.
■Note for checking the emergency
tire puncture repair kit
Check the sealant expiry date occasion- ally.
The expiry date is shown on the bottle.
Do not use sealant whose expiry date has already passed. Otherwise, repairs
conducted using the emergency tire
puncture repair kit may not be per-
formed properly.
WA R N I N G
■Caution while driving
●Store the repair kit in the trunk.
Injuries may result in the event of an accident or sudden braking.
●The repair kit is exclusively only for
your vehicle. Do not use repair kit on other vehi-
cles, which could lead to an acci-
dent causing death or serious injury.
●Do not use repair kit for tires that are different size than the original
ones, or for any other purpose. If
the tires have not been completely repaired, it could lead to an acci-
dent causing death or serious
injury.
■Precautions for use of the seal-
ant
●Ingesting the sealant is hazardous
to your health. If you ingest sealant,
consume as much water as possi- ble, then immediately consult a
doctor.
●If sealant gets in eyes or adheres to
skin, immediately wash it off with
water. If discomfort persists, consult a doctor.
●If a person who is allergic to natural rubber comes in contact the seal-
ant, allergy symptoms may occur.

■During customization
As the engine needs to be running
during customization, ensure that the vehicle is parked in a place with ade-
quate ventilation. In a closed area
such as a garage, exhaust gases including harmful carbon monoxide
(CO) may collect and enter the vehi-
cle. This may lead to death or a seri- ous health hazard.

■During customization
To prevent battery discharge, ensure that the engine is running while cus-
tomizing features.
