*1: Move the front seat fully rearward. If the passenger seat height can be
adjusted, move it to the upper most position.
*2: Adjust the seatback angle to the
most upright position.
When installing a forward-facing
child seat, if there is a gap
between the child seat and the
seatback, adjust the seatback
angle until good contact is
achieved.
*3: If the head restraint interferes with your child restraint sys tem, and the
head restraint can be removed, remove the head restraint.
Otherwise, put the head restraint in the upper most position.

The child restraint system can be used in the seating positions for
“fixture” mentioned in the table above. For kind of “fixture” r elation,
confirm the following table.
If your child restraint system has no kind of “fixture” (or if you can-
not find information in the table below), please refer to the c hild
restraint system “vehicle list” for compatibility information o r ask the
retailer of your child seat.

• If a vehicle ahead is irregularly shaped, such as a tractor or side car
• For region A: If a vehicle ahead is a child sized bicycle, a b icycle that is
carrying a large load, a bicycle ridden by more than one person , or a
uniquely shaped bicycle (bicycle with a child seat, tandem bicy cle, etc.)
• For region A: If a pedestrian/or the riding height of a bicycl ist ahead is
shorter than approximately 1 m (3.2 ft.) or taller than approxi mately 2 m
(6.5 ft.)

• When driving in inclement weather such as heavy rain, fog, sno w or a
sandstorm
• When driving through steam or smoke
• When the surrounding area is dim, such as at dawn or dusk, or while at
night or in a tunnel, making a detectable object appear to be n early the
same color as its surroundings
• When driving in a place where the surrounding brightness chang es sud-
denly, such as at the entrance or exit of a tunnel
• After the hybrid system has started the vehicle has not been d riven for a
certain amount of time
• While making a left/right turn and for a few seconds after mak ing a left/
right turn
• While driving on a curve and for a few seconds after driving o n a curve

■ Conditions under which the system may not function correctly
● The BSM function may not detect vehicles correctly in the following situa-
tions:
• When the sensor is misaligned due to a strong impact to the se nsor or its
surrounding area
• When mud, snow, ice, a sticker, etc., is covering the sensor o r surround-
ing area on the rear bumper
• When driving on a road surface that is wet with standing water during bad
weather, such as heavy rain, snow, or fog
• When multiple vehicles are approaching with only a small gap b etween
each vehicle
• When the distance between your vehicle and a following vehicle is short
• When there is a significant difference in speed between your v ehicle and
the vehicle that enters the detection area
• When the difference in speed between your vehicle and another vehicle
is changing
• When a vehicle enters a detection area traveling at about the same
speed as your vehicle
• As your vehicle starts from a stop, a vehicle remains in the d etection area
• When driving up and down consecutive steep inclines, such as h ills, dips
in the road, etc.
• When driving on roads with sharp bends, consecutive curves, or uneven
surfaces
• When vehicle lanes are wide, or when driving on the edge of a lane, and
the vehicle in an adjacent lane is far away from your vehicle
• When a bicycle carrier or other accessory is installed to the rear of the
vehicle
• When there is a significant difference in height between your vehicle and
the vehicle that enters the detection area
• Immediately after the BSM system is set to on
• When towing a trailer
