For safety and security
Airbag sensor assembly
The main SRS airbag system components are shown above. The SRS air-
bag system is controlled by the airbag sensor assembly. As the airbags
deploy, a chemical reaction in the inflators quickly fills the airbags with non-
toxic gas to help restrain the motion of the occupants.
■If the SRS airbags deploy (inflate)
●Slight abrasions, burns, bruising etc.,
may be sustained from SRS airbags, due to the extremely high speed deployment (inflation) by hot gases.
●A loud noise and white powder will be emitted.
●Parts of the airbag module (steering wheel hub, airbag cover and inflator)
as well as the front seats, parts of the front and rear pillars, and roof side rails, may be hot for several minutes.
The airbag itself may also be hot.
●The windshield may crack.
●The EV system will be stopped. ( P. 9 0 )
●All of the doors will be unlocked. ( P.186)
●The brakes and stop lights will be con-
trolled automatically. ( P.406)
●The interior lights will turn on automat-
ically. ( P.432)
●The emergency flashers will turn on
automatically. ( P.506)
●If any of the following situations occur,
the system is designed to send an emergency call to the eCall control center, notifying them of the vehicle’s
location (without needing to push the “SOS” button) and an agent will attempt to speak with the occupants to
ascertain the level of emergency and assistance required. If the occupants are unable to communicate, the agent
automatically treats the call as an emergency and helps to dispatch the necessary emergency services.
( P. 6 5 ) • An SRS airbag is deployed.• A seat belt pretensioner is activated.
• The vehicle is involved in a severe rear-end collision.
■SRS airbag deployment conditions
(SRS front airbags)
●The SRS front airbags will deploy in
the event of an impact that exceeds the set threshold level (the level of force corresponding to an approxi-
mately 20 - 30 km/h [12 - 18 mph] frontal collision with a fixed wall that does not move or deform).
However, this threshold velocity will be considerably higher in the following situations:
• If the vehicle strikes an object, such as a parked vehicle or sign pole, which can move or deform on impact
• If the vehicle is involved in an under- ride collision, such as a collision in which the front of the vehicle under-
rides, or goes under, the bed of a truck
●Depending on the type of collision, it is possible that only the seat belt pretensioners will activate.
■SRS airbag deployment conditions
(SRS side and curtain shield air- bags and SRS front seat center air-bag)
●The SRS side and curtain shield air-bags and SRS front seat center airbag
will deploy in the event of an impact that exceeds the set threshold level (the level of force corresponding to
the impact force produced by an approximately 1500 kg [3300 lb.] vehi-cle colliding with the vehicle cabin
from a direction perpendicular to the vehicle orientation at an approximate speed of 20 - 30 km/h [12 - 18 mph]).
●Both SRS curtain shield airbags will deploy in the event of a side collision

bumper again during the halted opera- tion, the back door will perform the reverse operation.
■Luggage compartment light
●The luggage compartment light turns on when the back door is opened.
●When the power switch is turned off, the light will go off automatically after 20 minutes.
■Back door closer
In the event that the back door is left slightly open, the back door closer will automatically close it to the fully closed
position.
Whatever the state of the power switch, the back door closer operates.
■Power back door operating condi-
tions
The power back door can automatically open and close under the following con-
ditions:
●When the power back door system is
enabled. ( P.202)
●When the power switch is in ON, in
addition to the above for the opening operations, the back door operates for
any of the following conditions: • Parking brake is engaged• The brake pedal is depressed
• The shift position is in P.
■Operation of the power back door
●A buzzer sounds and the emergency
flashers flash twice to indicate that the back door is opening/closing.
●When the power back door system is disabled, the power back door does not operate but it can be opened and
closed by hand.
●When the power back door automati-
cally opens, if an abnormality due to people or objects is detected, opera-tion will stop.

5-3.Operating the lights and wipers
Operating the switch turns on
the lights as follows:
1 The front position, tail,
license plate and instrument
panel lights turn on.
2 The headlights and all the
lights listed above turn on.
3 The headlights, daytime
running lights ( P.259) and all
the lights listed above turn on
and off automatically.
■AUTO mode can be used when
The power switch is in ON.
■Daytime running light function
To make your vehicle more visible to
other drivers during daytime driving, the
daytime running lights turn on automati-
cally whenever the EV system is started
and the parking brake is released with
the headlight switch in the position.
(Illuminate brighter than the front posi-
tion lights.) Daytime running lights are
not designed for use at night.
■Headlight control sensor
The sensor may not function properly if an object is placed on the sensor, or
anything that blocks the sensor is affixed to the windshield. Doing so interferes with the sensor
detecting the level of ambient light and may cause the automatic headlight sys-tem to malfunction.
■Automatic light off system
●When the light switch is in or

cally if the power switch is turned to
ACC or OFF.
●When the light switch is in posi-
tion: The headlights and all the lights

WARNING
■For safe use
●The driver monitor is not designed to prevent the driver from driving carelessly or having a poor driving
posture. Pay careful attention to the sur-rounding conditions in order to
ensure safe driving.
●The driver monitor cannot reduce
drowsiness. If you feel unable to concentrate or drowsy, take a break and sleep as necessary in order to
ensure safe driving.

settings
PCS (Pre-Collision Sys-
tem)
The pre-collision system uses
sensors to detect objects
( P.284) in the path of the
vehicle. When the system
determines that the possibility
of a frontal collision with a
detectable obj ect is high, a
warning operates to urge the
driver to take evasive action
and the potential brake pres-
sure is increased to help the
driver avoid the collision. If the
system determines that the
possibility of a collision is
extremely high, the brakes are
automatically applied to help
avoid the collision or help
reduce the impact of the colli-
sion.
The pre-collision system can be
disabled/enabled and the warn-
ing timing can be changed.
( P.293)
WARNING
■For safe use
●Driving safely is solely the responsi-
bility of the driver. Pay careful atten- tion to the surrounding conditions in order to ensure safe driving. Never
use the pre-collision system in place of normal braking operations. This system cannot help avoid or
reduce the impact of a collision in every situation. Over-reliance on this system to drive the vehicle
safely may lead to an accident resulting in death or serious injury.
