conditions bydimming individual LEDs in the
headlamps. The driver and other road users are
dazzled less as a result.

The city lighting function
City lighting impr ovesth e illumination of roadsides
in urban areas using a broad distribution of light.

Based on map data, the lighting system responds
pre-e mptively todi.erent road heights. This
means that the headlamp range remains virtually

DIGITAL LIGHT visually expands on the driver
assistance systems byprojecting the assistant
displa ysin front of theve hicle while it is in
motion. DIGITAL LIGHT can therefore help the
driver in critical situations.

The system is active in thefo llowing cases:
R The light switch is in theà position.
R The high beam is switched on.
% Ifyo u activate the head-up display with aug-
mented realit y,the projections can be deacti-
va ted depending on the situation.
% Depending on the country in which you are
cur rently driving, cer tain functions may be
disabled due todi.erent legal requ irements,
ev en if they are enabled in the multimedia
system. When a border is crossed, theve hicle
will automatically adapt totheva lid requ ire-

guidance is active, ECO Assist will operate with
gr eater accuracy. The basic function is also availa-
ble without active route guidance. Not all informa-
tion and tra1c situations can be fore seen. The
qu ality depends on the map data.
ECO Assist is only an aid. The driver is responsible
fo rke eping a safe distance from theve hicle in
front, forve hicle speed and for braking in good
time. The system may be impaired or may not function
in
thefo llowing situations:
R Ifth ere is poor visibility, e.g. due toinsu1cient
illumination of thero ad, highly variable shade
conditions, rain, sno w,fog or heavy spr ay.
R Ifth ere is glare, e.g. from oncoming tra1c,
direct sunlight or re0ections.
R Ifth e windscreen in the area of the multifunc-
tion camera is dirty, or if the camera is misted
up, damaged or co vered.
R Ifth e tra1c signs are hard todetect, e.g. due
to dirt, snow or insu1cient lighting, or
because they are co vered.
R Ifth e information in the navigation system's
digital map is incor rect or out-of-date.

regula testhe
brake pressure in critical driving situations:
R During braking, for instance, at maximum full-
stop braking or if there is insu1cient tyre trac-
tion, the wheels are pr evented from locking.
R Vehicle steerability while braking is ensure d.
If ABS inter venes when braking, you will feel a
pulsing in the brake pedal. The pulsating brake
pedal can be an indication of hazardous road con-
ditions and can ser veas a reminder totake extra
care while driving.

If BAS is malfunctioning, the braking distance
in an emer gency braking situation is
