The shoulder section of the seat belt should
not touch your neck nor be routed under your
arm or behind your bac k.
R Avoid wearing bulky clo thing, e.g. a winter
coat.
R Push the lap belt down as far as possible
across your hips and pull tight with the shoul-
der section of the belt. Neverro ute the lap
belt across your abdomen.
Pregnant women must also take particular
care with this.
R Neverro ute the seat belt across sharp, poin-
te d, abrasive or fragile objects.
R Only one person should use each seat belt at
any one time.
R Never secure objects with a seat belt if the
seat belt is also being used byone of theve hi-
cle's occupants.
Also ensu rethat no objects, e.g. a cushion,
are ever placed between a person and the
seat. If
ch ildren are tr avelling in theve hicle, be sure to
obser vethe inst ructions and saf ety no tes on

The seat belt extender extends.
% Ifth eve hicle is equipped with the MBUX Inte-
ri or Assistant, the seat belt extender extends
when youre ach forth e seat belt tongue.
The seat belt extender retracts again in thefo llo w-
ing cases:
R the seat belt tongue is engaged in the seat
belt buckle R
the seat belt tongue is not engaged in the seat
belt buckle within a cer tain time
R there specti vedoor is opened
R a cer tain speed is exceeded aTer pulling away &

icall y,it can be retracted manuall y.To do so,
press the seat belt extender back as far as it will
go before starting theve hicle. Pressing the seat

Fully retract the seat cushion length adjust-

is in the lo west position. #
Set the seat backrest tothe most vertical
position possible. #
Install thech ild restraint system.
The entire base of thech ild restraint system
must al ways rest on the sitting sur face of the
front passenger seat. #
Always make sure that the shoulder belt strap
is cor rectly routed from the seat belt outlet of
th eve hicle tothe shoulder belt guide on the
ch ild restraint system.
The shoulder belt strap must be routed for-
wa rds and down wards from the seat belt out-
let. #
If necessar y,adjust the seat belt outlet and
