Make sure when adjusting a seat that no
one has an

Rear passengers may come into contact with
par
ts of the mechanical seat components. 
If the front passenger seat backrest is
f

olded forwards and there is a passenger
in the car, the passenger must sit in the
rear seat behind the driver. To enlarge the load compartment, you can fold
t

he seat backrest on the front passenger side for-
wards.
Requirements: = The following seats are unoccupied:
- the rear seat behind the seat backrest that
is folded forwards on the front passenger
side
- the rear centre seat 
To fold forwards: pull r
elease handle 1 and
fold the seat backrest fully forwards onto the
sitting surface until it engages. 
To fold back: pull r
elease handle 1 and pivot
the seat backrest backwards until it engages. Through-loading feature in the rear bench seat

The rear bench seat, rear seat and seat back-

est may fold forwards, even while the vehicle
is in motion. 126
Seats and stowing

As a r esult, the vehicle occupant will be
pressed into the seat belt with increased
force. The seat belt will not be able to pro-
tect as intended and could cause addi-
tional injury.
= Objects or loads in the boot or load com-
partment cannot be restrained by the seat
backrest. 
Make sure that the rear bench seat, the
r
ear seat and the seat backrest are
engaged before every trip. If the seat backrests are not engaged and locked
in place, t

he lock veriNcation indicator will be red.
Always ensure that all vehicle occupants have
their seat belts fastened correctly and are sitting
properly. Particular attention must be paid to chil-
dren.
If you no longer require the folded-down seat
backrest as a loading area, fold the backrest back
into place. Requirements:
= The ar

ea into which the seat backrest is folded
is clear.
= To fold the centre seat backrest forwards: the
centre seat backrest has been unlocked.
= The armrest on the second row of seats is fol-
ded back and the cup holders are empty.
Folding the les and right seat backrests forwards
You can fold the centre and outer seat backrests
forwards. 
If necessary, fully insert the seat backrest
head r
estraints (  page 116).

Make sure that the seat belt is not trap-
ped when f
olding back the seat backrest. 
Move the driver's or front passenger seat for-
w

ards, if necessary. 
Fold the corresponding seat backrest 1 bac
k
until it engages.
Les and right seat backrests: if the seat back-
rest is not engaged and locked in place, the
red lock veriNcation indicator 2 will be visi-
ble.
Centre seat backrest: if the seat backrest is
not engaged and locked in place, the red lock
veriNcation indicator 3 will be visible. 128

Locking the release catch of the centre rear seat

Requirements: = The les and centre seat backrests are
engaged and joined together.
You can lock the centre seat backrest. The centre
seat backrest can then be folded forwards only
together with the les seat backrest. 
Fold the centre and les seat bac krests for-
wards. 
To lock or unlock: slide catc
h 1 upwards or
downwards.

The rear bench seat, rear seat and seat back-
r
est may fold forwards, even while the vehicle
is in motion.
= As a result, the vehicle occupant will be
pressed into the seat belt with increased
force. The seat belt will not be able to pro-
tect as intended and could cause addi-
tional injury.
= Objects or loads in the boot or load com-
partment cannot be restrained by the seat
backrest. 
Make sure that the rear bench seat, the
r
ear seat and the seat backrest are
engaged before every trip. For vehicles with longitudinally adjustable rear
seats, y
ou can also adjust the angle of the rear
seat backrests. There are several possible detent
positions.

the attachment of objects The release loops of the seat backrests in the

ear may be damaged due to the attachment
of objects. 
Only attach objects to the tie-down eyes. Seats and stowing

poorly secured objects
The load compartment cover alone cannot
secur
e or restrain heavy objects, items of lug-
gage or heavy loads.
You could be hit by an unsecured load, partic-
ularly in the event of abrupt changes in direc-
tion, sudden braking or an accident. 
Always stow objects in such a way that
t

hey cannot be thrown around. 
Secure objects, luggage or loads against
slipping or tipping o

ver, e.g. by using
lashing material, even if you are using
the load compartment cover. Requirements:
=

more than 2.5 kg. %
Please note that the load compartment cover

t not be pushed further upwards when the
tailgate is open. 
To remove: pull hang
er 3 on the tailgate
upwards out of eyelet 1 and unhook it. 
Swivel the load compartment cover down-

The partitioning net alone cannot secure or

estrain heavy objects, items of luggage or
heavy loads. You could be hit by an unsecured load, partic-

les and right on the roof lining. 
Without load compartment enlargement:

les and right in such a way that hooks 3
point backwards. 
With load compartment enlargement: attach

s 3 to tie-down eyes 4 on the les and
right in such a way that hooks 3 point to the
door. 
Pull on the loose ends of the lashing straps at

he same time until the partitioning net 1 is
tight and the top edge of partitioning net 1 is
horizontal. Removing 
Turn the buckle of the lashing strap in the
dir

ection of arrow 6. 
Slide the loose end of the lashing strap into
t

he buckle in the direction of arrow 5 until
the lashing straps are loose.

om tie-down eyes 4 on
