The functions of the drive prog ram are only tools.
The driver is responsible for maintaining a su1-
cient lysafe dis tance totheve hicle in front, vehi-
cle speed and for braking in good time. The function of
the drive prog ram may be restric-
te d in thefo llowing situations:
R If visibility is poor, e.g. due toinsu1cient illu-
mination of thero ad, highly variable shade
conditions, rain, sno w,fog or heavy spr ay.
R Ifth ere is glare, e.g. from oncoming tra1c,
direct sunlight or re0ections.
R Ifth ere is dirt on the windscreen in the area of
th e multifunction camera or the camera is
misted up, damaged or obscured.
R Ifro ad signs are hard todetect, e.g. due to
dirt, snow or insu1cient lighting, or because
th ey are obscured.

aids. They are not a substitute foryo u paying

ing a safe distance totheve hicle in front, forve hi-
cle speed, for braking in good time and for st aying

cameras clear of any obst ructions and

gr ille or stone chipping in the area of the
front and rear wind owsre paired at a
qu ali/ed specialist workshop. Pa
rticular ly,ke ep the areas around the sensors
and cameras free of dirt, ice or slush
(/ page 312). The sensors and cameras must
not be co vered and the de tection ranges around
th em must be kept free. Do not at tach additional
licence plate brac kets, advertisements, stic kers,
fo ils or foils toprotect against stone chippings in
th e de tection range of the sensors and cameras. Make sure
that there are no overhanging loads

speed adjustment forth ero ute event ahead is
less than the stored speed, the segments in the
speedome ter light up. The Instrument Display
sho ws th e deactivation of Active Distance Assist
DISTRONIC, as well as alterations tothe speed
due tomanual or automatic adoption of the maxi-
mum permissible speed.

In addition, on slippery roads, braking or acceler-

traction and theve hicle could then skid.
