In these cases, the system may brake late orunexpectedly.
If something hits the front end of your vehicleor damage occurs, the radar-sensing zonemay change. This could cause missed orfalse vehicle detection.
Optimal system performance requires a clearview of the road by the windshield-mountedcamera.
Optimal performance may not occur if:
•The camera is blocked.
•There is poor visibility or lightingconditions.
•There are bad weather conditions.
SWITCHING ADAPTIVE CRUISE
CONTROL ON AND OFF
The cruise controls are on the steeringwheel.
Switching Adaptive Cruise Control On
Press the button to set the systemin standby mode.
The indicator, current gap setting and setspeed appear in the information display.
Switching Adaptive Cruise Control Off
Press the button when the systemis in standby mode, or switch theignition off.
Note:You erase the set speed when youswitch the system off.

ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL
AUTOMATIC CANCELLATION
The system may cancel if:
•The tires lose traction.
•You apply the parking brake.
The system may cancel and set the parkingbrake if:
•You unbuckle the seatbelt and open thedriver door after you stop your vehicle.
•Your vehicle is at a stop continuously formore than three minutes.
The system may deactivate or preventactivating when requested if:
•The vehicle has a blocked sensor.
•The brake temperature is too high.
•There is a failure in the system or arelated system.
SETTING THE ADAPTIVE CRUISE
CONTROL SPEED
Drive to the speed you prefer.
Press either button to set thecurrent speed.
Take your foot off the accelerator pedal.
The indicator, current gap setting and setspeed appear in the information display.
A vehicle image illuminates if there is avehicle detected in front of you.
Note:When adaptive cruise control is active,the speedometer may vary slightly from theset speed displayed in the informationdisplay.
Setting the Adaptive Cruise Speedfrom a Complete Stop
Press and release either buttonwhile keeping the brake pedal fullypressed.
The set speed adjusts to 20 mph (30 km/h).
The indicator, current gap setting and setspeed appear in the information display.
Note:The system will activate from acomplete stop only when it detects a leadvehicle in close proximity.
Manually Changing the Set Speed
Press and release to increase theset speed in small increments.
Press and hold to increase the set speed inlarge increments. Release the button whenyou reach the speed you prefer.
Press and release to decrease theset speed in small increments.

The system resumes operation when yourelease the accelerator pedal. The vehiclespeed decreases to the set speed, or a lowerspeed if following a slower vehicle.
ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL
INDICATORS
Illuminates when you switchadaptive cruise control on. Thecolor of the indicator changes toindicate the system status.
White indicates the system is on but inactive.
Green indicates that you set the speed andthe system is active.

WARNING: Normal cruise control willnot brake when your vehicle isapproaching slower vehicles. Always beaware of which mode you have selectedand apply the brakes when necessary.
You can change from adaptive cruise controlto normal cruise control through theinformation display.
The cruise control indicator lightreplaces the adaptive cruisecontrol indicator light if you selectnormal cruise control. The gap setting doesnot display, and the system does not respondto lead vehicles. Automatic braking remainsactive to maintain set speed.
LANE CENTERING
HOW DOES LANE CENTERING WORK
Adaptive cruise control with lane centeringuses radar and camera sensors to help keepyour vehicle in the middle of the lane byapplying continuous assistance steeringtorque input toward the lane center onhighways.
Note:The adaptive cruise control gap settingoperates normally.
If you drive off-center within the lane, thesystem sets and maintains that preferred laneposition. The system provides continuousassistance steering torque input toward thepreferred position.
Note:The system can only set preferred lanepositions within the lane.
Note:If the system cancels, the preferredposition erases. On the next activation, thesystem provides continuous assistancesteering torque input toward the lane center.

SWITCHING LANE CENTERING ONAND OFF
You must keep your hands on the steeringwheel at all times.
The controls are on the steering wheel.
Press the button.
The indicator appears in the informationdisplay. When the system is on, the color ofthe indicator changes to indicate the systemstatus.
You can override the system at any time bysteering your vehicle.
Note:The correct requirements must be metbefore you can switch the system on. SeeLane Centering Requirements (page 264).
LANE CENTERING ALERTS
When the system is active and detects nosteering activity for a certain period of time,the system alerts you to put your hands onthe steering wheel. If you do not react to thewarnings the system cancels and slows yourvehicle down to idle speeds whilemaintaining steering control.
The system also alerts you if your vehiclecrosses lane markings without detectedsteering activity.
Note:The system may detect a light grip ortouch on the steering wheel as hands-offdriving.
LANE CENTERING AUTOMATICCANCELLATION
When an external condition cancels thesystem, for example, no lane markingsavailable, a tone sounds and a messageappears in the information display.
If your vehicle starts to slow down,you must provide steering input tothe wheel and press and releasethe button to regain full system performance.
Automatic cancellation can also occur if:
•The lane becomes too wide or toonarrow.
•The system cannot detect valid lanemarkings.
•Lane markings cross over one another.
Note:The system disables until the next keycycle if your vehicle slows down due to driverinactivity twice within a key cycle.
LANE CENTERING INDICATORS
Illuminates when you switch lanecentering on. The color of theindicator changes to indicate thesystem status.
Gray indicates the system is on but inactive.
Green indicates the system is active andapplying steering torque assistance input tokeep your vehicle in the center of the lane.

WHAT IS THE LANE KEEPING
SYSTEM
The lane keeping system alerts you byproviding temporary steering assistance orsteering wheel vibration when it detects anunintended lane departure.
HOW DOES THE LANE KEEPING
SYSTEM WORK
The lane keeping system uses a forwardlooking camera mounted on the windshieldto monitor vehicle movement within thetravel lane.
When the camera detects a drift out of thetravel lane, the lane keeping system alertsthe driver by vibrating the steering wheel, oraids the driver by providing a small steeringinput to move the vehicle back into the travellane.
The driver can select one of three modes:
•Alert (If Equipped)
•Aid
•Alert + Aid

LANE KEEPING SYSTEM – FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Why is the feature not available (lane markings are gray) when I can see the lane markings on the road?
Your vehicle speed is less than 40 mph (65 km/h).
The sun is shining directly into the camera lens.
A quick intentional lane change has occurred.
Your vehicle stays too close to the lane markings for an extended interval of time.
Driving at high speeds in curves.
The last alert warning or aid intervention occurred a short time ago.
Ambiguous lane markings, for example, in construction zones.
Rapid transition from light to dark, or from dark to light.
Sudden offset in lane markings.
ABS or AdvanceTrac™ is active.
There is a camera blockage due to dirt, grime, fog, frost or water on the windshield.
You are driving too close to the vehicle in front of you.
Transitioning between no lane markings to lane markings, or vice versa.
There is standing water on the road.
Faint lane markings, for example, partial yellow lane markings on concrete roads.

WHAT IS PRE-COLLISION ASSIST
Pre-collision assist detects and warns ofapproaching hazards in the roadway. If yourvehicle is rapidly approaching anotherstationary vehicle, a vehicle traveling in thesame direction as yours, or a pedestrianwithin your driving path, the system providesmultiple levels of assistance to help avoid acollision.
HOW DOES PRE-COLLISION
ASSIST WORK
The system warns the driver of potentialhazards by providing three levels ofassistance.
If your vehicle is rapidly approachingpotential hazards, the system provides thefollowing levels of functionality:
1.Alert.
2.Brake Support.
3.Automatic Emergency Braking.
Alert: When active, a flashing visual warningappears and an audible warning tonesounds.
Brake Support: The system is designed tohelp reduce the impact speed by preparingthe brakes for rapid braking. The systemdoes not automatically apply the brakes. Ifyou press the brake pedal, the system couldapply additional braking up to maximumbraking force, even if you lightly press thebrake pedal.
Automatic Emergency Braking: Automaticemergency braking could activate if thesystem determines that a collision isimminent.
Note:If you perceive pre-collision assistalerts as being too frequent or disturbing,then you could reduce the alert sensitivity.The manufacturer recommends using thehighest sensitivity setting where possible.Setting a lower sensitivity would lead tofewer and later system warnings.

PRE-COLLISION ASSIST
LIMITATIONS
Pre-collision assist depends on the detectionability of its camera and sensors. Anyobstructions or damage to these areas canlimit detection or prevent the system fromfunctioning. See Locating the Pre-CollisionAssist Sensors (page 285).
